Edit: now I see. Counterpoint is all about being able to hear individual lines in head and an excel in voice leading. Not memorising rules or copying the aesthetic of Fux or someone. He's absolutely right.

Just discovered Gavin Harrison .... dude is so awesome and very technical !!! I love this song .... i hear Alice In Chains melodies , tool , and the guitar in the beginning reminds me of The Toadies. My new fave song and drummer !!!

If Steven Wilson is really a "bad guitarist", then what makes all these other musicians want to play with him? All jokes and sarcasm aside, years ago I used to grade guitarists the same way. But Steven Wilson was the one musician whose music made me rethink it through. First and foremost he creates incredible music, but I'm also a fan of his guitarwork and the way he uses the instrument in service of a song. I find nothing missing about his work, or about him as a musician or guitarist. Or even as a live performer.

Fantastic. An intense, melodic, riveting, outstanding performance. Such imaginative and innovative use of keyboards and sampling, a killer guitar tone, otherworldly drumming. This is a killer band.

@@icstatonato this song was written by Harrison/Wilson specifically for a drum clinic at first but the rest of the band found the demo so good that it ended up as a PT song...it was released on the Futile EP in 2003 after the IA release with some other gems like Orchidia www.discogs.com/Porcupine-Tree-Futile/master/240980 and watching a close-up of Harrison playing it live is something else ruclips.net/video/QvYLHG86Iwo/видео.html
