I was seriously hoping to see more AoW4 stuff from you. These videos are just fun you know. Also congrats, not every addict gets to say they got their dealer to sponsor them.
my only gripe is that we don't have randomised generated maps yet :( edit: I didn't realise the Create Realm button was the randomised map generator, had a blast after finding out 10/10 game
@@rimreld What do you mean? If you mean the map traits, the last major update before the current one gave the option to randomize traits to the point that you need to discover them during play. Otherwise the maps themselves were always randomised
Age of Wonders 4 is genuinely the greatest 4x ever made. I was so surprised at how easy it was to pick up, while being jam PACKED with content. It's not too complicated but it's just enough to keep it interesting. Love it.
The reason Oathsworn can't choose Fabled Hunters or Scions of Evil is because those traits provide bonus starting units and Oathsworn don't have t1 or t2 units in those categories.
Dragons look great, especially when they appear on the battle map with oversized wings and the roaring animation. It looks so cool with the wings almost spanning your seven units. You can feel the danger that a dragon represents.
The one thing I do personally think would improve the game is a solid campaign. We've got story missions now, and they are connected to each other, but I don't actually have a connection to the characters that I play in them- as they are all different and unrelated. I'd love something more like AOW3 / Planetfall. Either a sort of set party of heroes, who you switch between in each mission (aow3), or a preset character that can be customized and carries over to the next mission. (planetfall) It being more connected would also allow your choices from previous missions to have an effect, which adds even more replayability
They need to polish game , my PC can handle RDR2 or Cyberpunk on highest settings az 60 FPS , but this game after playing longer time just starts to lag!
They already have the ascension system for Rulers that finish one realm, it would be great if you could build upon it and essentially level a ruler through completed realms. That way you could have a power fantasy of a single ruler growing more powerful (with other rulers in the story missions getting stronger as well) and once you're done with the story realms (or just custom realms), you could seed those overpowered rulers you grew as your enemies in a custom realm and give them a hard AI for a more challenging run. That way they could go back to the previous challenge realms and power them up as well.
Cyberpunk optimization has been fixed already? Lol, I remember how utterly crap it was around release. Didn't had the best PC so in theory it should run on high settings but to get stable 60 FPS I had to run it on literally lowest settings as even on medium there were random lag spikes. Hard to believe they managed to fix it.

The synergy you have going in this game is impressive. I enjoy listening to the passion in your voice discussing all your game decisions. I'm a new subscriber. Glad to have found your channel.
man, I've played so much this game today, so much fun, love every second of it. Please do more videos of AOW 4, already seen all of yours of this game.
Seeing this made me go by the dlc to run my own simian oathsworn. My faction has become unstoppable even though the game decided to use all the other rulers as one's I've made. Love seeing the playstyle you use for your videos that I pick apart to help myself get better at the game!
Age of wonders is one of the best and most creative 4x games. And I also believe it has the most bang for your buck. The expansions add alot without costing your entire wallet.
Bought it with all dlc's some time ago. Now i added the second season pass. Normally i wouldn't buy a season pass ahead of time but here i actually want to support the devs. Because this game has brought me so much joy already and still continues to get better. No worries here.
This was a lot of fun to watch! Glad to see you return to AOW 4 for a bit. I wouldn't say this game is underrated, but I would say it's underrepresented in the 4x space (especially considering how good it is). IMO, taking elusive and ferocious (along with bulwark) are also very strong picks for this build...but it would require you to abandon the flying mounts. Tough choice 🤔
There is a new map modifier called unbound tomes that removes the affinity requirement for tomes. I am curious as to what the most broken tome combo you could possibly make might be and seeing you play it.
As a tip. You can skip production on turn 1 to annex a farm next turn and start building the workshop with a discount. It'll be same building time, but a lot of coins saved. Not that it matters for tis build, but for others it might. And don't focus too much on city morale. Note that negative morale gives you -% to everything, but positive will only boost food, production and draft - no mana, no money, no research. Also, new culture is awesome! Both in terms of roleplay and mechanics.
Wait, the game now has elephants mounts? Yeah, yeah, I know, dragons are cool and broken and all that... But elephants man! I somehow doubt either dragons or elephants can really compete with the brokenness that was all-out ranged army on spider mounts to web enemies while having 2-3 more range than any other faction in the game, but if seeing this video made me think I might start another run, the elephant mounts are turning that into question of "when" not "if".
I'm just honestly glad Triumph is doing well enough to warrant another expansion to this game. Age of Wonders was the first CD game I ever got for my Windows 98 as a kid. I spent dozens of hours just making custom maps and fantasizing about how cool lizard wizards riding frogs into battle was. Was a little scared when Paradox absorbed them, but I'm glad it seems to have turned out well. AoW4 is my favorite in the series since 1.
I'm really enjoying this game. More than civilization. I hope you make more videos for this game and its not just a sponsor. I would love it if someone would play games with their fan submitted factions. There are some funny combos like i made some canibalistic high orcs with taking advantage of having neutral karma with a high society right out of the gate.
So for real the only thing I would change about the game would be to give eacher race 1 unique trait that is locked in then you can spend your 5 points like normal. Just to make race choice not purely cosmetic.
I can see how this isn't for everyone. I have trouble finding motivation in sandbox type games. In Endless games, the unique mechanics of the Horatio or the Hissho gives me a good idea of what to strive for and the pre-established lore and faction quests gives me a grounding on who and what is going on in the setting. Still this game lets me design my own Order of Bird people so 10/10.
My favorite way to play this game is to make it chaotic as possible with regenerating infestations... Usually also with the underground adaptation trait, and artifact hoarders for easy clappers lol
I like: "I want to make my dragon as much damage as human possible" Man it is the biggest and dangerous dragon, it should do more then every human possible demange 😅
I sometimes do Vassel. Get max 4 cities. Create more cities and then release them as vassles. Surround my area with vassles as an early detection system.
I find that, since launch, it's still a struggle to close games out. I am typically just moving units, auto resolving everything, and ending turn for ~20 turns - and the time it takes for turns to end adds a lot of time to the game. The first ~50 turns tends to be the most fun and challenging.
The only problem I had, when I bought it back when it was released, was the animation speed of the combat. I get that a lot of people like swift combat animations so that fights don't take so long, but for me personally if just felt jaring. I wish they had an option to use "normal" speed or something like that.
Playing this map myself at the moment and the Righteous Oathsworn is a bloody menace. I have an alliance with the Harmony ruler and the only other ruler that is not from the traits and we still can't make headway. Edit: Fabled Hunters with Harmony Peacekeepers would be hilariously broken.
One note for the future: Probably better to use those deleted units for the Turn 1 combats then delete them. You might miss out on a little XP, but the health of the units you are keeping will be higher for Turn 2 etc.
Question ~~~ How many hours do you have in Age of Wonders 4? How long did it take you to figure out this combo? Also, is there any other combo like this as strong? If so, what's the combo and have you made a video playing it?
I found for this game the most fun I've had is not playing to win, but making a faction and role-playing that faction. Like it's probably the worst idea to attack this guy since he's super strong but I don't care because my short king hobbit hates people that are better than him soo
I'm liking that hero leveling system. Would be cool if regular units could get access to that system if they gain enough veterancy - maybe once they hit Elite.
