The penguins are probably a reference to At the mountains of madness by H.P. Lovecraft. The characters encounter giant albino penguins in that story.
The evil dire penguin thing was a meme in aow for a very long time and it probs came from its death animation that looked like it was possessed or something. Direcasters, umbral penguins, are inspired by that book however.

Undead Penguins being "true Evil" is the single best thing in a 4x I've ever seen.
I like that you power spells by stealing your enemies souls, get food by eating your enemies' flesh, and then use necromancy to reanimate their bones as mindless servants. You're like those indigenous tribes that had a use for every part of the buffalo, except with sentient beings.

I have only played Age of wonders 3 but it was pretty fun, looks like they changed the mechanics as in AOW 3 if I recall correctly you were guaranteed to hit but for a range of damage based on different factors, meaning you can plan off the damage numbers.
In that one you could choose a race and a faction/focus, my favorite being dreadnaught which is machine focused.
They have land battleships called juggernauts that are terrorizing, a mortar and broadside making quick work of most ground units.
The riflemen have no penalties for movement but instead must spend every other turn's action loading
One of my favorite units being the spy drone, a spell that makes a spy drone on the campaign map, these are flying making great scouting units which helps find things quickly as you start with the spell but since you can spawn them beside cities and armies you can reinforce armies before fighting. The drone's flying lets it get close to enemy units quickly and when it dies it self destructs, doing 10 physical and 10 fire damage to all nearby units which is quite significant to most units.
Fun Fact: Frogs, do have skeletons, which include a fairly wide skull. They do not have ribs or a pelvis, and as tadpoles don't start with bones
I like how the diplomacy interface is bugging out while you're playing a lovecraftian horror.

Never played a grand strategy game before. Had to look up a beginner guide video to actually understand what in the world I was suppose to do. But now I kinda get the gist of things and I'm having a blast

I illegally crossed the boarder into Mexico, walked 1 state over, crossed back into the US, spoke 3 words of from a Tacobell menu and was rewarded with a pension, government funded healthcare, a place to live for free *AND* I got to vote 41 times in 3 different states.

31:19 also combat casting points (the red ones) are different from world casting points (blue) but that shadow affinity empire skill can get that number to a ridiculous amount, also using a wizard king leader or a mystic culture gives a bonus to those numbers

Dear Mr Kleaper, i write to inform you of my responses to your latest video.
As a watcher who uses a standard speaker setup rather than headphones, i found the audio to create a "swishing" effect as the volume veered towards left and right ears.
Fortunately i was able to remedy this by immediately setting up an experiment whereby i took an extension lead to my bathroom, plugged in my toaster, immediately jumping in the bath with the toaster duct-taped to the offending ear. The experiment was so successful that i bought another toaster to apply to the opposite ear, and now all my pretensions towards normality are cured!

It would seem that when you give necromancy to a mind-controlling insanity-inducing eldritch being, allowing it to summon units out of thin air, which then upon being slain turn into zombies, which then turn into mana that can be used to do it all over again... it turns out pretty powerful. Who would've thought.

At least in regard to something like Warhammer 3 the combat is turn based rather than real time strategy. So that is interesting. Probably makes a game last a long time though
