RH Fusiliers did a tour of the US around 1966 and the P&D , brass band, dancers and comedy British drill team were all RH Fusiliers. The audiences in Cleveland OH loved it, and I became a bagpipe maker.

Quite a feat to get it that good when you're sprinting down the street, whilst trying to keep everything in focus, and maintain those unwavering framed shots. Nothing comes close to a company of Highlanders jauntily swinging along a highway, the steady rhythmic snap of boots, in concert with the thud of Bass, and skirl of pipes. Och Aye.

I have a question - near the end at George Square where they 3 Guard platoon/division/group all give the eyes right to the dignatories on the plinth (one being the Glasgow Lord Provost), some folks don't do it and look straight ahead - why is this?
they are the markers and everybody marching and giving the eyes right will have a peripheral view of the guys looking forward and they can keep station on them .You are welcome

R H F now there's a regiment with some serious history. One of the oldest regiments.inthe British army. Royal scots and highland light infantry amalgamation. Only regiment that's allowed two regimental colour standards if a remember right. Battle honours too many to mention. I know all this cos my dad was a fusilier for years and I grew up amongst it Believe me it rubs off. I could give complete a to zoom on malayan campaign.

The Kings Own Scottish Borderers,The Royal Scots,the Highland Light Infantry and the Scots Fusiliers were all lowland Regiments and wore the trews.Accept for the Pipers who wore Kilts.

The last time the 93rd Highlanders (Argyle & Sutherland’s) faced off & defeated Russian Cavalry (Mainly Cossacks) was at the Battle of Balaclava, during the Crimean War on the 24/October/1854! This was when around 500 Of these Scots Highlanders (Infantry) effectively held their position to successfully prevent a similar number of Russian horsemen breaking through the British lines to capture their rear positions there. The action was & still is known famously in British Military History as the “Thin Red Line!” During this action numerous Victoria Crosses were awarded to the 93rd Regiment of Foot (These were incidently, also amongst the very first ever of these such medals to be awarded!), the Sutherland Highlanders! As today, as also in Victorian Times, the Highlanders & the Guards, & the Connaught Rangers, along with the Rifle Brigade, the Light Infantry Regiments were some of the finest, most-gallant & accomplished soldiers of entire British Army! Thomas Brown there are 3 different bands for the RS, the regular one with the red and the black ones with no kilt (lowland) and kilt (highland)

The drum major in this regiment wears mackensie tartan trews from the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
