from a us Vietnam vet thanks my Brothers
around 12:20 when those vets are lined up and that old salt calls to salute is my favorite part. just makes me smile. those old dogs looking into the faces that are the future of their nation's security, and those men in the parade looking to the faces who protected their nation in the past. what an awesome moment.
can you tell me what he says exactly i don t understand very well thanks ;) i am French
I agree 100%. One of the few times I marched soldiers in formation as a Lieutenant (US Army), there was a group of WW2 vets standing nearby for a reunion, visiting the post. I'm still not 100% sure but I thought I spotted a Medal of Honor on one of their necks (several awardees of the medal lived in the area at the time). I called an "eyes right" and saluted them as went past. Later, a couple of NCOs came up and said they thought I had lost my mind with that order, UNTIL they saw the veterans at the curb. One said, "That was a class act, Sir," which I still consider one of the best compliments I ever got from an NCO.
aw man that gave me wood!!
Me too! Just grand!!
@@eliasfastVegas Bonjour, yes, he is ordering the veterans to salute the Regiments colours ( the flags carried by the soldiers in kilts) the colours are flags with the Regiments battle honours embroidered on them. The colours of British army Regiments are held as almost sacred and are gifted to them by the monarchy
I never knew Drachinifel was a Drum Major.... I am a Yank here, but descended of Scottish blood. MacAndrew(s). They dropped the Mac when they came to America in the 1800s. My mom would not let my dad listen to the Pipes at home. they drove her nuts... I guess you either love or hate the bagpipes and drums! We would listen to Bluegrass and Scottish Pipe and Drum music when Mom was not around. I have always been very proud of my Scottish heritage, Back in the early 80s or so, my Cousin was stationed around Europe in the Military and did a deep dive in to our family history. We re- discovered our family Crest and Tartar and traced our lineage back to St. Andrew. To go any further back would have taken more money than he had at the time. On my bucket list is a trip to Scotland to see a REAL Scottish Military pipe and drum parade and to visit St. Andrews golf course, and take in the beautiful countryside. Just imagine being the enemy, hearing this coming for several hours, knowing that each beat of that drum brought many angry Scottsmen one step closer to you. It is truly amazing how the bagpipes can be mournful, uplifting and cheerful, and terrifying all at the same time. it brought a tear to my eye. When they passed the Veterans, and they called BATTALION, EYES RIGHT, SALUTE and the vets said SCOTLAND SALUTES wow, what a moment of shared respect. I am far away but my heart is in Scotland.
There's a reason the Scottish are known as the bravest of the brave. Wonderful country and people, and incredible soldiers. Love from England.
Love the pipes and drums, the RCMP has one of them here in Ottawa and they are well liked.
and America

That we choose to fondly remember.
@@duncanlaing6078 If you think that, do some research on Anglo-Scottish conflict in medieval times. The Scots got hammered quite a few times- the power of the English long bow dominated European battlefields for several centuries.
You Scots gotta be a Proud people ! watching this i wish we had this pride in our armed forces in my country ,but thats years ago. Cheers Scotland from a neighbour country across the north sea.
5:37, the old soldiers who stands to attention. Warms my heart!

Let's hear it for the bass drummer, the only guy that can't take a rest!
Amazes me how that guy can parade from start to finish without missing a beat!
being a bass drummer is a lot harder than people think. Especially when you're regiment plays everything at the speed of sound.
Thats Great. You know
@@JimRamsayJWR The young dude beside the bass drummer must have very tired arms from all that twirling.
Go boys give her hell I love the order of the boys it's just that kind of music that gets your heart pumped in the morning
I don’t have words to express my pleasure at seeing and hearing this parade. I’m proud to be of Scottish decent.
This is a great video...I am proud to be of part Scottish descent on my Mom's side...Watson by name
The Bassdrummer is Crazy.20 Minutes.No Time Outs.Great.This is "Superman".Fantastic.

The tall kid on the tenor drum is amazing, could watch the tenors all day. Such skill..quality 👌👍🏴
They're all great. But this one is truly special.
Not even scottish, I'm danish, and this fills me with pride and patriotism. Good Lawd.
From the City of Perth, capital of Western Australia, to out friends in Perth, Scotland. Warm greetings and Gday.
Don't I wish I had an airplane and a few bucks to bring them here for a parade in Wallingford, CT. One of the greatest pipe bands in the world. And of course, the beast on the bass drum is relentless. Classy outfit.
Hey next time you are looking for a pipe band I recommend checking out a parade the Waterbury Police Pipes & Drums are playing. Or if you want more in the Fall at the Goshen fair there is often a Highland Games where they do massed bands. Not quite this level, of course, but still really great for local bagpipe bands!
You Sir, are a genius... Coming from SA, I would sincerely appreciate watching that particular parade, if only to be in awe of the Military discipline, & the finest. Rgds.
My grandad was in the black watch and fought on the beaches of Normandy..he was and my family are of the clan Macdonald of Glencoe...if you know your history..that my grandad was a member of a of the Blackwatch..a predominately clan Campbell regiment...then you know he had balls of steel...thank you for the pipes...they remind me of him
Or MacDhomhnaill in Gáidhlig :)
Being though born English descendant of Clan Bruce me and I fucking love it, love Clan Donald why was Aonghus Óg without them Clan Donald and the Campbells the Bruce's back in the early 1300s would have been fucked lol take care James :)
Slightly Foxed, and so warriors were made. I know my Father, a Royal Naval Submariner, would tell his sons (my brothers) to make sure to always select a Clan MacDonald of Glencoe for a decent man and one whose word was just that. Alba gu bràth 🏴🏴
Me and my parents are french and so gratefull !!
I am French and these bagpipes remind me of my regiment of bagpipes in Brittany, the 41st Infantry Regiment of Reyne Marie Antoinette which was unfortunately dissolved. But I have always had great admiration for Scotland's friend of France in history. Thank you to this beautiful regiment for his great performance. My heart is half French half Scottish
Normandy to the North East is where the Clan I am a descendant of were from originally, that being Clan Bruce :)
Your Bruce family, is an important Norman family that originated in Brix, south of Cherbourg...it's cool, and we have in common, to be close by this proud history ... ;)
@@mikele1 It's a case of genuine respect for me for France it's an amazing country!
thank you for the attention you have for France :) Scotland is beautiful too, it looks like the French Basque Country, with a resemblance a little, in the way of dancing (Fandango) :)
personally I live in the south west of France, in Pau (Navarre). I think next year I will move to the Basque Country near my family
@@mikele1 Used to go to the south of France for holidays before going to farther places by air, this is going way back to when I was pre 10 years old though, yeah always loved France tbh, though I can't exactly remember where it was haha.
Yeah one of my two middle names is Andrew after my dads mothers father Andrew Bruce, which means I can legit become a member of the Assoc. of Bruce's would be amazing! Actually Robert I would have spoken Norman French predominantly I suppose as well as Gáidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) and rather rarely English, Latin as well though that'd be more often than English.
Moving to the core, if I was going into battle I would want to be with these guys
Those harmonies are absolutely magnificent.

To play an instrument and March at that cadence. Wow, Hats off to you! If I were on the street and this parade would pass before me I would certainly remove my hat and come to attention and remain at attention until the whole regiment has passed by me not just for the colours.

Great piping and excellent drums, fitting for one of the finest regiments in any army. Love pipes, met their commander long ago in NYC abd later that of the Scots Guards. Love those guys. Long history of hard fighting men.
My mother was upset at the French for the debacle in 1940, and I was a bun in the oven. She asked for the name of an ancestor who we knew fought the French in the field. Thus, I am James Stuart, named after a private (later a captain) in the Black Watch who fought the French at Fontenoy. Alas, a French victory, but you can't have everything. A fine parade. A fine regiment.

I really appreciate it our allies you guys look good. I enjoyed it very much with the precision you cant ask for anything better than this kudos!
How I love the sound of a bag pipe. The drum section is what keeps everyone marching to the beat. Thus there is usually no break for the drum section but to play on the entire length of the parade. At least, that's how it was when I played in a marching bank and, yes, I played the snare drum.
Can you imagine back in the day hearing bagpipe as you entered the battlefield. You would just have the feeling of here it comes oh __________wad about to hit the fan.

Shit aint it! Every day one of my videos gets done for copyright!!
Man, I LOVE this. Hello from New York.
Hello from Perth
Edit: if you wish to follow the route via Google Maps, the parade started at the base of Mill Street at the Perth Concert Hall and headed East towards the Perth and Kinross Council offices and turned left onto Kinoull Street, crossing onto Scott Street, the Tresspass store and church spire seen along the route is where Kinoull Street, Scott Street and the High Street meet, High Street continues from the church spire visible when passing Tresspass on down behind the cameraman to just before the River Tay, continuing along Scott Street before turning onto South Street, ironically named as the street actually runs west to east but so named as it was the southern most road in Perth at a point in history if I recall correctly.
Continuing along South Street, passing a Greggs bakers you get an opportunity to see onto the High Street and where the majority of Perthshire shopping takes place thanks to St John's Shopping centre plus the various shops along the High Street, continuing past that, the parade turns onto St John's Street passing St John's Kirk, continuing along to the end of St John's Street and turning right onto the High Street before turning Left onto George Street, at the top of which lies the Museum the building with the Pillars in white and adjoining structure to the left of the pillars, continuing back to the left to finish again outside the Concert Hall along Bridge Lane, Horse Cross and Mill Street, these 3 street names very tightly packed close together, where the parade ends.
