I remember the 20 guys on my hockey team phoning the British Consolate in Ottawa to try to sign up to fight for our Queen. The secretary said we'd have to wait in England for 6 months before we could sign up. We knew it would be over by then but, if needed, we will always be there. God Save the Queen from Canada.

I'm Canadian and I think it's undemocratic that our head of state is an unelected dynastic monarch who has no real qualification other than a 'birthright'. The governor general has interfered with the will of the people; proroguing parliament and changing how politics work in Canada. I don't understand why national pride is wrapped up with this anachronistic symbol of imperialism and in my opinion; ignorance. I don't support what the batenburgs or whatever have done in India, China, the Caribbean and Canada. When Canada went to war in WW1 Canadian troops were used as cannon fodder. They also killed princess Diana when she tried to break away.

The RN is in a stronger state today with two aircraft carriers and f35bs, higher technological capability, only one of two blue water fleets in the world, the other being the USN . We also have a permanent deployment of 2k troops in the Falklands, type 26 which would blow anything Argentina has out of the water. The British Army may also be small and a little underequipped but has more than enough to secure the islands.
On the other hand Argentina has a navy of about three fishing patrol boats, no amphibious vehicles, most of their planes date back at least 40 years.

Joined as boys, Maltese men were British subjects and proudly served in all wars and conflicts from early 1800s . I grew up with the picture of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II (long May She live). I moved to the U.K. in my early 20s, and reside 7 minutes walk away from the place where the parade was held.
