  • It was a bit of a red hot one at Gurston, first thing is a massive thanks to the orange army who had to deal with the most difficult conditions I’ve ever seen. Truly thankful to each and every one of you for everything you give, truly amazing and thank you again. Through the heat, fires and accidents everyone was absolute stars. The team at Gurston put on a great weekend even with the difficult conditions. Well done to the team for the communication through the weekend. Saturday sadly was unfortunate, clubs do get days where things just go wrong but I think with a total of 4 hours worth of issues due to fires and accidents it was always going to be difficult to fulfill a full car and bike entry meeting to all its runs. I believe the correct decision to run just the 1 practice and 1 timed run was correct mainly for the orange army, there was no need to keep everyone out longer than needed, for time purposes I think in general as well as we would have been running exceptionally late if there was an additional run. Also additional incidents could have occurred so I believe the right choices were made at the end of the day. Hopefully Sam who was attended by the medical team is feeling better. Results wise for myself I was very happy, 1st in class and then a 4th in the run off on Saturday. Great watching the PB times fall. It was a really tight top 12 with 0.17s separating the top 4 well done to Tony, Paul and Steve on great drives. Sunday was another red hot day in which pb times fell. I lowered my pb bar in second practice to the lower it again on the first timed run with a 30.73 only to be towed back to the paddock with a lack of clutch. Thanks to the marshalling team at the top who got me rolling back down the hill and then towed back into the paddock from hollow. It put me in a great position for the run off qualifying 3rd. The day wasn’t without incidents but thankfully the Foster side car duo were ok and were well taken care of by the great team up at Gurston. The run off went very well there was a small delay due to a vehicle having to chase Paul “fire starter” Crute up the hill to make sure the grass wasn’t alight. Great time in the runoff going 0.03 off of pb and slotting into 2nd behind Tony. Even with how Saturday played out it was still a great weekends racing and a real pleasure to see everyone back at Gurston. Looking forward to the next one in August for the final round of the Championship. Well done again everyone for working so hard and making it a great weekend.
