This is an excellent video for the beginner. I've tried to find out what the thread colors meant when stitching out a design. You are the first person to really address the placement stitch vs, the tack down stitch. I guess most persons assume that we already know what they are for. Thanks so much. You've made my life a lot easier.
Im new to your channel. I love the way you explain every single step so straight to the point. I do appreciate this. Im staring using my machine fallowing your videos. Thank you again!🌺
I am new to the embroidery world. I got my Brother Innovis 5100 in May and love it!!! Videos are so helpful. Thanks for making it so easy for beginners like me! !!
Oh this is the best true from start to finish I’ve seen ! Ty very much ! There are so many blogging about daily life that is fine but it seems you just get vague how tos ! Ty hon
Thank you! I want to do some of this. It looks like so much fun. I bought some designs several years back and have never used them. Got sick and haven't messed with my machine for years up until here recently and having to relearn how to use it. Got a friend that works at a monogram store so she will help me since they also do this. But when she and I get together I want to teach HER to sew and not spend our time for me on applique. So I am subscribing to your channel so I will get updates and can learn. My daughter has a little purse she's been wanting me to applique some tulips on since forever now and that would be a NICE surprise for her this coming spring. :D Thank you for what you're doing here!!!!
This was more helpful that I anticipated! I like how there was a brief description of scissors and stabilizers, I wasn't expecting that. Thanks for the useful info and I can't wait to watch more!!
May I ask a question? How do you clean your embroidery needles when they get the stabilizer glue on them? I have looked and looked but can find no answer. I have really enjoyed your video. I have been very hesitant to do any kind of applique. You taught it in a simplified manner so that it is easy to understand. Thank you!
Thanks for the awesome video. I've been embroidering for a few months but was a bit reluctant to try applique - Gonna get my supplies out and try this now!
Thanks for sharing, love the big hoops your machine has. My bernina is an older model and has only two. so stabilizer should always extend the hoop or just be put on the back of the project. does each machine have a tacking process? What is this cover fabric on the back of the shirt and where do you purchase?
Please post a video on how to machine applique a t-shirt using the float method. Also, your video doesn't mention using Heat & Bond light or Steam a Seam on the fabric pieces that will be appliqued onto the garment on top of the placement stitch. Thanks for your help.
Starting basic.. what brand or kind of thread do you use? I feel mine is always too thin or too thick. Im trying to teach myself again, after storing my machine for a year. :)
That was very informative...I never knew there was a backing you put on the back of the design.....cant wait to try the free design..it will be my first applique.
This was a great tutorial, very clear and easy to understand.. I have a question. I used an Iron On stablizer on the front of my design but how so I get it off? I am having a horrible time, help me please.
Thanks Kristin! I enjoyed your video. My question is about the appliqué designs. Do you know of any place what can custom design an appliqué? I'm looking for interesting patterns that I can draw digitally that can be turned to appliqué. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. the iron on stabilizer you used on this t-shirt is it soft, medium, heavy, and the sheet you added at the end so the skin doesn't touch the rough edges what is it called and where can I find these products? also, what type of thread did you use? I'm new to embroidery, so I'm clueless. can you please put links to where we can buy these products? tia.
This was informative and a great way to show how some designs let you use up small scraps, but I would never recommend trimming after the tack down stitches without taking the hoop off the machine. It is too easy to bump push or pull the fabric and offset the alignment of the design.
I have used the exact technique you used. I always wash the t-shirt and applique fabric before I make a t-shirt. My problem is that once I wash it, it never looks the same. I have tried using wonder under or heat n bond on the applique fabric before I use it. After the tack down stitch and trimming, I iron the fabric with a small craft iron before the final stitching and it still wrinkles after washing. Do you have any other suggestions?
where do you buy the topper to protect baby's skin. Enjoyed your video very much. I am trying my 1st applique now & watched your video a 2nd time as a refresher.
I know I'm about 8 years late..lol... but this video was AWESOME! Very detailed, informative, and straight to the point. Thank you! 😊
