I drove a genuine 400bhp rwd saff, it was an absolute weapon and squatted so much under boost that the backbox would scrape the road!

Nice car and good vid, not a 4 wheel drive spoiler, they were all the same until the facelift 4x4’s in 92 that had no black lip and shark tooths.

Yes your right about the spoiler, it was 2wd and 4x4 so very appropriate as part of a 4wd look. Thanks.

My friend had a saff, back in the day. His was around 280 break. Venoms, konis, big intercooler, and a peco big bore. Old school! It was rapid back in the day. Sadly it got stolen, and burnt. Like so many other cossies. I always wanted an rs turbo as a kid, I could never afford the insurance on a cossie.

The lights are standard across all 1990!spec onwards cars. The spoiler is the same across all sapphire cosworths apart from the last cars that had the black lip painted body coloured.

2:08 it's a 4-door saloon. the hatchbacks are 3-door and 5-door (and the estates are 5-door) while the saloons are 4-door. on a hatchback (or estate), the hatch is counted as an extra door, but on a saloon, the boot lid is not counted as an extra door.

Max & Lee. Firstly Thank You! Absolutely fascinating. And what a machine. [Max, your face provided quite an insight! ]
Lee, what a machine you have 'created'! So good to know that you get thumbs up and that the 'younger' generation can appreciate a 'classic fast Ford'. Never quite understand why 'hot' Fords are not appreciated more. Yes the Fiesta ST gets the praise it rightly deserves yet the latest Focus ST goes completely unnoticed? Why? Certainly up there with the i30N and the 'soft around the ediges' latest Golf GTi. Would be so good if You and Lee could get your hands on the swansong Focus ST and take it out on the Welsh roads. Or indeed your up coming Lakes Road trip. Thanks again guys, not least Lee for this fascinating insight. Right back to work! .

Enjoyed this. Love your Cosworth👍 Owned 3 Sapph Cossies in the past, one 2wd and two 4x4's. Similar to Lee I sold my last one a 'K' Plate 351 BHP Smokestone example 10 years ago for nearly the same money as Lee's 3 Door sold back then. I miss the Cossie, just a great thing to drive that looked so good and went so well. Would have another tomorrow but a little too strong money wise for me in todays climate

@@exgtt2061 a t34 isn't big , I've owned cosworths in the past and driven plenty with 400+bhp that would light up 2nd gear off the throttle bouncing off the limiter and with 225 rear section tyres , I'm not saying it's not 411bhp it just didn't look like it not 1 little bit , still a fantastic example and the owner was a true fanatic

@@LeeMllison-white-pj6zkFellow Cossie nutter here, had a 2wd saph 380hp UT T34 then moved on to my current 3dr. At 9.30 odd you pulled in 1st into 2nd, are you honestly telling me that was your foot down to the floor 32 psi? If not why not? because the whole point is to prove the famous Cossie pull as your passenger expressed before the drive. I have a vid on my channel with my 3dr modifies T3.
The T34 isn't a big turbo it's an outdated piece of crap and so are the T38's. Putting a. 48 or. 55 housing on the T34 is a far better experience, but there are so many better turbo's and injector options these days I seriously recommend you upgrade.
The lag in the video sounds like a. 63 housing but there's little turbo pressure buildup and a strong sacrifice of torque, hence it's either a really bad portrayal and you should of given it full send, or you were and that's all it had to give.

Sorry but for a 411bhp Sierra it's one of the most boring car videos I've ever seen. 2 guys talking and that's it. I mean, show the whole car, dashboard, accessories, how it burns tires, the whole engine bay, the sound coming out the exhaust, compare it to the 1st cosworth, the merkur xr4ti, the Sierra XR4... but no.
