    You did good It is a huge improvement. I`m going to do the same to my 1980 one day. I really don`t like the covers that people put over the wiper bay. I think they look cheap. But I can understand why people want to cover up that eyesore.
    What you are doing is similar to what the euro car crowd call OEM+. You restore and improve on the car in such a way that it looks like it could have been built like that only with a nicer finish. Usually with a properly done OEM+ build you can`t tell that the car is modified unless you are into the same cars yourself and know how rough they were stock. I guess a restorod is kind of the same thing.
    Im looking forward to the next videos.

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Год назад

      Thank you! I love the OEM+ way of describing the detail work. Had never heard that and it makes perfect sense. I did not modify the wiper bay. I just refinished it the way it should’ve been done by the manufacturer in the first place.
      As far as the cowl covers, yeah, not my thing, and most of the ones I’ve seen don’t seem to fit very well.
      Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. 😊👍🏻

    Have you ever thought about using a Dremel to cut off the excess panel bond? You can also get little drum sanders for them, that just seems easier and faster, just a suggestion, but yours turned out great!
    Im with you on the way that you restore your cars,” what looks good to me” that’s the way I do mine. GM should be ashamed of themselves for the way the left this area! Looks like the slobs were assigned this job!

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Год назад

      That’s a good idea, Dan, and honestly, never crossed my mind. No clue why. And I’ve had a Dremel for years. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      They are great tools and-as long as they don’t get away from you-you can probably cut the time spent manually filing, at least in half.
      The only thing I don’t care for is the dust storm they generate, but the time savings can be substantial, so thanks for the suggestion.
      And yes, I refinished the wiper bay the way the factory should’ve but didn’t. 😊👍🏻

    So I'm about to start on my wiper bay (79). There is something on the bottom left side (D) that starts close to the wiper motor and ends near the wiper attachment plate. It's on the bottom flat surface, about an inch wide and 6-7" long. Anyway it's vary hard and I can't tell if it's part of the wiper bay or a blob of old sealer or bondo. The surface is not flat and smooth like yours. Not sure if I want to take a chisel to it. Any thoughts?
