That would be heaven. The GCAM mods generally work well though, I have an S8 and the GCAM mod works amazing. I dont know if the S20 has a mod yet.

The S20 Ultra just had a software update that improved camera performace. Have you downloaded the update? What does it improve exactly?
Yes, seems to be very minor focusing improvements
Yes we had an G988BXXU1ATCT april 1 security patch update for exynos 990 users. update could bring some improvement for the camera little bit but unfortunately the phone display getting bit faded whenever we launch camera app or any app which uses camera. As this is a very minor issue hopefully it will fix by next patch.
As a common examination the winners
Samsung wins over iphone 11 pro max and ofcorz oneplus 8 pro
1. Samsung is fully loaded with features. you can imagine how well it can capture images in 10X or even 30X but others are way behind.
2. Iphone 11 pro max is the winner for overall video capturing but still, samsung offers 8K resolution.
3. For macro shots one plus is the ultimate winner because it has seperate sensor for that.
4. For low light photography some times samsung edges but sometimes iphone. Oneplus is not there in this story
5. If you could spend so much penny you will worth buying it, thats what S20 ultra offers

There is no point in camera comparison...Although the photos should be natural...People tend to like saturated and bright images to upload on social media (Instagram, Facebook, twitter)

Also would like to see quality differences in video recording when you zoom in 2x as these phones have to crop in on the main sensor before switching to telephoto

So it seems like if 1+ could figure out their colour problems, their cameras could actually be really good.
It's already pretty good, comparable to the Samsungs and the huaweis and just below the iphones and pixels. The present color system is something that most people don't really mind. I personally like the vibrant colors but if it's tweaked with a little I think it can surpass samsung

@@amo_res9266 It's either ways for both the brands ...Apple iPhone xs and xs max were launched with worst night mode Cameras where Huawei launched an excellent night mode and Samsung used 1.5 variable aperture Camera for night modes much before Apple launched xs...It took Apple forever to launch a nightmode which is still not the best night mode...
By the way Pixel's have excellent Camera, Night and Portrait modes

Love your comparisons. Thanks for that. I've been watching tons of comparison videos. For me the camera is the most important factor about my phone as I'm not using a separate dedicated camera. I'm going onto hikes often and I just can't be bothered dragging a system camera or a heavy DSLR with me. I currently have the S20 FE 5G and the OnePlus 8 Pro here with me. I'd need a mixture of both of them. The 1+ definitely takes the better photos, more true to life and great macro mode, but I don't like that the ultrawide isn't as wide as the Samsung one. Also, the 1+ sometimes produces unsharp photos which is horrible for a point and shoot situation. The Samsung is doing much better there. What I hate about the S20 FE - or the newer Samsung phones in general is the oversaturation of photos even when AI and HDR is turned off. With GCam installed, I get the colors I want, but it's not very stable and the quality of those photos is worse than of the standard camera app ...... also I find the 1+ a bit too huge and heavy. Not a fan of edge displays on top of that. Even the S20 FE is a bit too big ... I'm coming from a S7 ...... which needs to be replaced. I want to keep my device for as long as possible. My S7 is still very capable, but now that I've seen what newer cameras can do, esp. ultrawide, I need this in my life. :) Contemplating giving Pixel 5 a chance instead .....

It's shocking that the gap has been minimised significantly.
I still prefer s20 ultra for photos and iphone for daylight videos, and a mix between s20 ultra and 11 pro max for selfies.
Oneplus has really impressed me though.
S20 Ultra's Focusing issue is still there and the flash performance is not as good (oneplus is not as bad on focus), oneplus has worse low light performance, and iphone has too warm colours sometimes.

I actually like the Samsung the most with some moments where the iPhone was better, but OnePlus was the worst in almost all cases (almost because the night time is a debatable one, some would say that they prefer the night to be night dark rather than bright like day)

Smartphones these days are so good that there's really no more "best smartphone" category anymore, they're all equally as good, one can be better than the other depending on what it is, they each take over each other's weaknesses with their own respective strengths, be it recording videos, capturing photographs, macro shots, processing power etc. The only thing that can really be compared nowadays is software, but even the softwares have their advantages and disadvantages, so there's really no point saying which is better or worse, they do things differently depending on the needs of the users. Therefore, the smartphones on the high-end spectrum don't necessarily have a "bad" smartphone anymore, the disparity between then in the past is now practically non-existent, now we just have to appreciate how good smartphones these days are, and buy them according to your needs
And consider which is better value for money. Like here the OnePlus isn't the best phone, but it's the best value for money.

You know what's truly good nowadays? - PC. Because you can find one for any price point, with all the features you could ask for and it'll easily last you 5 years with full software support.
