Thanks for the video. Here are my favorite lenses for shooting landscapes with my Nikon SLR: 14mm f/2.8 Nikkor 28mm f/2 Zeiss Distagon ZF 135mm f/2 Zeiss Sonnar
Nikon 850, ziess 20mm, sigma 35mm art, Nikon 85mm 1.8. The sig is the only lens I have that comes close to the resolution of the sensor on the D850. If I’m serious about resolution I rent a 55mm Otis, no zooms of any kind not good enough for my big prints
Water: ND filter and blurred or wide open in sunshine and 1/4000 of a second freezing drops in the air? The classic and accepted way is the first. But there are times to break every rule of photography. My answer is that there is no answer. Personally, I would go classical most of the time and go daring once in a while. One place where the reverse is wanted is when you want to freeze fast motion and see something your eye does not usually see. For instance, a dip of coffee falls from the pot's spigot into the cup and makes an interesting splash pattern, frozen in time. On a bigger scale, if you find the right angle at the base of a waterfall, each of those large drops is generating it's own tiny rainbow color. So give something different a try.
I just came accross this video now Darrell I've got the 20mm f1.8 and the 24-120 f4 also. The former is almost welded to my D800, I use it so much. I've a 70-300 f4.5-5.6 lens which is shoot mainly on my D7200 camera (not as sharp as the 70-200 but great reach on DX) I've also taken a photo of Skogafoss several years ago now 😂📷👍
Beautiful photos I have D810 17 -35 mm 35-150 mm, 100 - 400 mm Tamron, very sharp at a reasonable price. Zeiss Planar 50 mm 1.4 unbelievable bokeh, but not too sharp, which I like, Samyang 85 mm too sharp for portraits, Sigma 105 mm for macro. I recommend it. I was 24 -120 mm but I switched to the tamron above because I wanted a longer one at the end of the focal length. 12:18 is Wales Snowdonia Cregennan Lakes?
Darrell, well stated experience, price, weight, and what meets your requirements for your style of shooting. With my D810 I carry 2 prime and 1 zoom. 18mm & 25mm Zeiss Distagons and a Tamron 80-200.
Hi Darrell, Very informative vlog. I also have a 24-120mm F4 lens. The only disadvantage of this lens is focussing in manual mode. Does this sound familiar or am I the only one?
Very interesting video Darrel. I see you have taken some cracking images. Like yourself i to have a Nikon 24-120mm lens on my secondhand Nikon D810 most of the time and love the quality. I also have a 18-35 g lens and a 70-300 g lens. Thank you for sharing.
