I laughed out loud when you blotted the dry brush on your pants! I do the same thing, wipe paint from my hands and brushes onto whatever I'm wearing (not always "official" painting clothes)! By the end of most projects I've messed up yet another perfectly nice outfit that's good for nothing now but more paint clothes! Drives my husband crazy! Enjoy your videos, keep 'em coming!!
Thank you so much for giving so many issues & problems people might have with a set like this. I personally have a dinning room set large table, 4 turned legs, no leaf & 6 chairs... The only difference is it came from a high end furniture store, was an original when they where popular years ago & was kept in a large furniture warehouse until the furniture store finally closed after 100 years. It is solid wood, "yellow" with just a top coat, no stain. But the top is different than any I've seen. It is small pieces of solid wood all glued together to create the table top, for 6 chairs. The 4 legs are big and you can see there 1 piece of turned solid wood. Same with the 6 chairs. I'd like to redo it, with a white wash??? Legs, so you can see the fact that it's solid turned wood. It's got great striations. Then I'd like to do the table top & the 6 chairs with a med/light stain & then seal it well. I think all I'd have to do is sand all pieces down to remove the heavish top coat, that I've just let ware off to make it easier. Any tips or easier ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm 40 something & recently got sick & am not disabled & medically homebound with a nurse that helps me everyday... I was wondering if you could suggest a sprayer that's light weight, easy to pull the trigger & is self contained ( DOES NOT) need an air compressor?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?? I also plan on selling the table & 6 chairs when I get it done, it's to big for my now downsized living. Sincerely Lori K.
Sounds like a fun project! I’ve had good luck with this sprayer. We use an HVLP because of the volume we do but this is good for around the house projects. amzn.to/2Czj7dy
I have been wondering about veneer. Thank you so much for covering it along with some awesome tips and tricks! Definitely saving this video into my favorites! 🙋♀️👍💕
Oh Jami your dry brushing has come a long ways 😂 I would have thought this was perfect if I didn’t see your amazing technique now, which I could never duplicate. You are a master at dry brush!
Thank you so much for sharing! I am getting ready to move and I have one of those old tables like that one. I am wanting to get that same look on mine. I've been thinking about it for years. After watching you I decided to go for it! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Can't wait to get started! God Bless you both and your family!
Beautiful job. Jamie you and Zeb are very Talented. I Love the combination colors of the Table with the chairs and you two give Great Instruction. TUFS
Thanks for the trick to sand the edges, I am planning to paint my dinning room table and didn't how to sand the edges. The table looks beautiful, great job.
Wow. You answered all my questions on milk paint getting mixed with chalk paint. I had the same issue because I had a little leftover of each. That helped soo much ! Thank you 😊
those chairs and their color are the exact I had in my first house! I had them around an 'This End Up' dining room table.....It looked terrific but your table is the bomb! loved the informative format!!!
Love it my friends but I’m telling you this would be so hard for me to do by myself outside especially, or at least very time consuming, you guys make a great team 💕
What a fabulous look! I'd buy this in a second! The table top sounded rough as Zeb rubbed his hands on it. (Good mic on that phone!) AMAZING refinish job!!
The company has gone out of business. We use SP milk paint for stain now. We water it down 8-9 parts water to one part paint and it creates a food safe stain. jamirayvintage.com/collections/milk-paint
I’ve only recently found you guys and have been watching lots of your current videos (today is 8/10/22) and this one popped up as a suggestion to watch. Fun to see how far you two have come in video editing and recording. ;) Great info in this video thanks!!
I'm in Italy and can't get your brands of paint. I have an antique bedroom set--2 twin beds, dresser with grey marble top and 2 bedside tables with the same marble tops. I recently discovered that the wood is veneer because a couple of pieces came off. As most Italian antique or vintage furniture is dark, I thought I'd just go a bit darker. I love painted furniture, but feel I need to respect this Italian style, especially as I live in an 800 year old house. I want to see if I can make the clay/chalk paint. I've never heard of the combination, so thanks so much to both of you for letting me in on this. I love how you work together on everything (almost everything). Your great relationship comes right through the screen, an added touch to your amazing talent. Very grateful for all you're teaching me. BTW, I found you through Angie at Transcending Furniture Gallery.
@@JamiRayVintage Hi! Thanks so much for responding. You're so busy I never even expected a response. I don't know where your energy comes from, especially with 5 children. I am the oldest of 5 and grew up with a working mother, so I kind of get it. Good to know you ship to Italy. I will keep that in mind. Meanwhile. I''m bingeing your videos while making Christmas wreaths with vines from my landlords vineyards. Love you guys. You have a very special relationship. xoxoxo
TFS Table & chairs are beautiful Great job 👍🏼😀 I’ve only tackled few small pieces end tables small shelves I’m working up courage to do coffee table lol Take Care & have a wonderful weekend
You 2 are Amazing at transforming furniture. I Love the base style & chipped color, along the chairs. Awesome. However, it may just be the camera but the top still looks cheap & definitely like veneer, which I know it is. But everything 6else is great
You guys are just my heros...I'm a newbie to all of this, trying to pay off my divorce attorney bill. Thank you for all your awesomeness. What are your favorite chalk paints for newbie furniture flippers?
Your videos are always so good!! A lot of information but easy to understand . How do you know when to stop sanding the veneer....before it's too late!! Thank you!!
Hi, great video! can you let me know how this table's pedastal legs are fixed to the table top? We have a similar table but the top does not screw on to the pedestal so it is pretty unstable at the moment .. trying to figure out how it can be permanently attached.
Once you've sanded the top, what paint did you use... milk paint (diluted with water)? ... it's a little unclear because in the video you said "real paint" and when I checked the Paints and Products link you've got only milk paint. Thanks
@@JamiRayVintage I'm sorry still not seeing where he goes back to the damage and fixes it.🤔 I watched this where he points it out and says after applying the stain he will show how to fix it. It's probably like when I can't find my glasses and there on top of my head,😉 a little more info will help.

great trick with the water to show the missed spots! I'm in the middle of stripping a coffee table and this was just what I needed to know.

I love the blue chairs with white washed table
I love the way you two work together! I’m believing for a great partner in crime for myself too. 🤗
Beautiful set and the chair color is so nice.
Very nice. I liked the muted effect the table top had.
Cracked me up that Zeb kept rubbing it all through the outro.
Lol. Best way to find the defects in your finish. 😂
Beautiful job.

My Mom's kitchen table is this table!!!! Very cool.
Wow. You answered all my questions on milk paint getting mixed with chalk paint. I had the same issue because I had a little leftover of each. That helped soo much ! Thank you 😊
We didn’t mix the milk paint with chalk paint. It was DIY clay based paint with Fairy Chalk Mother Chalk paint.
The stain was Milk Stain. 👍
Turned out really pretty , great job you guys 🤗💕👍🏻

Amazed you were able to produce these results on a veneer table top.

Thanks! It’s nice and smooth. Zeb hands are rough though! 😂
Great job a lot of hard work you put in the table ... thanks for sharing. 🐶🐶
We have those same Arrowback chairs. Our table has the big single turned pedestal. We have had them since the 1980's.
I should paint them! :-)
This was a fantastic video. I have got some great tips and really want to do my own table now. Xx
Glad it helped!
Beautiful job. I love the lighter wood look. Thanks for all the tips.
Thanks! ❤️
Great job! What you need is a big lazy susan to put chairs on to turn as you spray.
Almost every time I think of doing a new project, you have a new video that gives me an idea of what I want to do. Thanks !! Y'all are great !!
What is the real stain you use on this tabletop and where can I find it? You two are so inspiring. Thank you.

It turned out really good love the mix match.
I think that it would have looked nice with a hint of the blue from the chair color smudged onto the table too like the gray and white.
Love the table finish !everything out both do is beautiful ..

Thumbs up. Shared to Facebook.
Really helpful Zeb
Love this project!
Love the color!
Gorgeous i love the stains ur usin
Also i wanted to ask...does the stain come in pints as well??
Not yet just quarts for now.
Beautiful! ♥️
Love the mixed colors of this table!!! I just found you and yes I subscribed!
Yay! Thank you!
Gorgeous !♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! Excellent content.
You guys are so stinking cute together!
Love this tutorial, did you just clean the table base & chairs or did you scuff sand first? Thank you
Super cute!!!
What color/brand of stain did you use? I really like the lightness of the color.
is this iron-oxide stain?
thanks for the video
Your videos are always so good!! A lot of information but easy to understand . How do you know when to stop sanding the veneer....before it's too late!! Thank you!!
You can see it start to get thin. It will be a little different color. Usually lighter.
Beautiful😊
Any recommendations on spray guns???
Hi, great video! can you let me know how this table's pedastal legs are fixed to the table top? We have a similar table but the top does not screw on to the pedestal so it is pretty unstable at the moment .. trying to figure out how it can be permanently attached.
Thanks for the tips. I copied your table on a round one. I trying to decided what color to do the chairs. I am thinking grey with a little blue added.
Gray goes beautifully with this style top. It pulls the colors together nicely.
Great look to the table! I was curious to know how you did the underside of the lip going around the table.
We paint the underside to match the base of the table.
Thanks Jami!
How awesome! Have you guys ever done it with kitchen cabinets?
Not this particular finish but the process would be the same 😊
🦋helpful video.

Yes milk paint diluted with water.
What is or where do you get real stain #2. I have never heard of it before
Can u put chalk paint in that sprayer, and if so what kind is it?
Somehow I missed the fix for the bubbled veneer, can you direct me to the time frame in the video where to watch it?
About 4-1/2 to 5 minutes in.
@@JamiRayVintage I'm sorry still not seeing where he goes back to the damage and fixes it.🤔 I watched this where he points it out and says after applying the stain he will show how to fix it. It's probably like when I can't find my glasses and there on top of my head,😉 a little more info will help.

If I need to stain it I use plastic wood by DAP
Thank you! I will give that a try.
Cute but still love the table you did for kimmy.
That was a good one!
Great information! It looks so nice. I have a Formica topped table I want to update. Can I sand it down to wood?. Thanks 😎
Formica is a little different. It won’t take stain like a veneer. If you sand it a bit you could probably use gel stain on the top.
New to your videos.... So fun to watch, can't wait to try them.... ALL!!! Contemplating chalking and distressing kitchen cabinets... - any thoughts
We did ours without distress but next time I’ll probably distress them. (We’re currently renting from Zeb’s cousin so we had to be neat) ❤️❤️

I put an acrylic enamel on my table top its white, what can I put on top of it to tone it down some?
What if you have deep scratches/grudges on the table? Can I fill it and still use a stain?
Love
Love this. 💖
Thanks!
Awesome!!
Thanks! 😀
What is the brand of stain that you used on table top?
So freaking beautiful!! I have an old dresser given to me today and the veneer on the sides are trashed what would you do ? Replace it or just peel it the rest of the way and paint what's underneath?
If it’s really cracked and gone I just remove it
Ok! Thank you!
I use wood conditioning first. I hope it doesn’t change my color.
Did you sand the chairs
We did not. We cleaned them with soapy water and painted.
What is the natural stain made with? Steel wool and vinegar?
Have the same table . Love ❤️ it !!! .. can I used a stripping gel on the table top ?
You can, I would babysit it a little. Harsh gels can bubble the veneer if left on too long.
Jami Ray Vintage thanks 😊
What stain did y’all use?
It might sound weird but I LOVED YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD!! I'm from NYC and always dreamed with life in the suburbs!! Where are you guys from! By the way I am going to use all tips!
