Hi Jason I'm very new to photography and have just purchased this camera, so I really appreciate the time it has taken you to shoot and edit this excellent tutorial.
This is the most useful guide yet! Just upgraded from my phone camera to the r10, and your tutorials are my saving grace😅I thought I would have to scroll through Reddit for hours! Thank you!
So glad I came across both of your videos for the R10. I will be saving both these videos for future reference. Thanks for sharing all this information.
This is an excellent video. There was one thing I would add, in the FV mode he showed selecting which setting the front wheel adjusts by touching the screen, this can also be done by the knob that is on top of the on/off switch. This is useful if you are using the eyepiece.
Amazing guide. I learned (or maybe re-learned 😆) quite a few things I didn't even know from my Rebel SL1, in addition to some newer settings for this camera. The distinction between P and Av was especially helpful to suss out, as they are quite similar at first blush. Thank you so much for making this!
Probably the best tutorial I’ve seen so far. I’m also a new photographer, & you just taught me $1000 worth of game for free!! Keep it up dude! You’re a beast 🔥🔥
I saw all the comments praising this video … and I’ll leave another one! Amazing video for beginner photographers to learn in general and specifically with the Canon EOS R10. Providing links as well in the description box is greatly appreciated. Great video, thank you!!!
I too am brand new to the world of photography. I have stumbled upon some great content and content providers here on YT. Your tutorial is by far the best I've encountered for the R10. You are a stellar educator. Thank you. Just subscribed. 🤙
just wanted to say thanks for the video - just bought an R10 and learning to use it for the first time. I was so overwhelmed before that I got a bit depressed and thought about never even starting to learn, just keeping it on Auto mode. Now I have seen this video, wow, I am just so excited to go out and use some of the more simple creative mode settings!
Still awaiting the arrival of my R10! Your tutorial was so helpful, I am going to use it as a go to for learning to use the different modes. Rock on! Thanks!
Very good, very informative. Id say almost comprehensive. Almost because, like I asked in an earlier post, I like to see how the R10 with 18-45mm and 18-150mm performs under low light conditions and how far it can be pushed.
Yeah, this is a tutorial and not a camera low light test. I did do a low light/ high ISO test with the R10 and compared it to the Sony ZV-E10 here: ruclips.net/video/bvx5sg8_nd0/видео.html
Really lovely overview, thank you! I would like to hear more about all the video options as I plan to primarily use to the camera to shoot RUclips videos.
Jason! I just got the Canon EOS R10, This Camera has Everything and I've been watching the Canon R10 Modes Explained for Beginners and I better Watch it a Couple more times as well of Your others Video's on the R10..
Left the canon rebel t6 to go to a r10 and im currently waiting on my 50 mm lens and wow this camera is a huge jump from what ive shot before. Thanks for the video! I now feel confident to take some really unique shots.
Best video so far! Thank you for the breakdown and so well explained step by step! Look forward for more videos . Can’t wait to start using my canon r10’today! It just arrived and I’m new to photography
Thank you for this new and useful tutorial as always. If you allow me I would like to add some more "real world" comments. I bought this camera Thursday before going for a little trip (video tomorrow on my channel) with the idea to test the camera. I am coming from Sony, Panasonic, and Fuji and finally, I found a camera that I really like and is close to my test. Few things: 1 - The camera is amazing and I didn't expect that watching useless RUclips reviews complaining basically about everything; 2 - I have got the kit lens of 18-45mm which is not the best but allows you to start shooting as you explained right out the box; 3 - I ordered already a speed booster and a 50mm 1.8 lens - Correct if I am wrong looks like a good fit for this camera or for an R7; 4 - Installing a third-party software Technicolor Cinestyle you have for free a profile really close to C-Log and with the annex LUT S-curve you are good to go immediately. But you already know this profile. 5 - Low light capabilities A M A Z I N G! Using HDR-PQ I didn't notice any grain/noise until zooming to 899% in DaVinci Resolve and using Color Management in Davinci you are good to go in minutes 6 - Lack of IBIS - I did all the clips handheld with no issues sometimes I noticed movement only I moved my hand at 45mm. Overall a fantastic camera so far
Appreciate the feedback, I just ordered the camera after being stuck on between The are r10 in the R7 because of so many youtubers talking about how the R7 is so much better than the R10 but realistically the price of the R7 ends up being almost twice as much as the r10 which wasn't making sense to me so at the end I decided to just go with the r10 and the biggest thing I was worried about was the image stimulization but after reading your comment I suppose I'm not gonna have any problems so appreciate it, also So how have your experience been so far with the Camera in the last 2 months
Hey Jason, appreciate the more in-depth tutorials you have recently posted about the R10. Reading a manual and actually seeing settings being changed (and explained) are definitely two different scenarios. Some people have mentioned an issue with finger clearance on the right side between the body and certain lenses. Have you experienced anything like that or is the RF18-45 zoom the only lense you have used so far?
Hey Michael, thanks for the kind words and it is a little tight in the fingers area to your point, but no I did not have any clearance issues. I also have the 18-150mm lens and compared both if you want to see here: ruclips.net/video/BV6Xf_EVBS4/видео.html There are no other RF-S lenses yet to try... Full frame fat RF Glass would prolly be tight by the grip area I would imagine. The R7 is quite a bit larger than the R10, so that might be a better option if you're concerned about the small R10 camera body. I hope that helps, Jay
Awesome video. I have been looking for a decent camera review/tutorial for years. Would recommend that you do more general photography videos/classes. You are a very good teacher and repeat things as necessary. Advice: don't limit yourself to one camera/lens/tutorial. More broad topic=more broad audience. Thanks for the help!
Love your content first of all, i am really struggling with my choice selection I currently have a Cannon T7i , an upgrade is needed. So what i want to do with the camera is shoot food pics and video, i will also do some product shots. So i am looking at Cannon EOS R50 , Cannon R10, Fuji
All great options Chef :) The R10 is a really good camera for the money... I don't have much experience with Fuji, but they also make great cameras. The R50 is a cheaper version of the R10 pretty much...
Excellent video! Will allow me to make friends with my new Canon R10 😅I wonder if I can set one of the C modes to slow motion filming ( 100 f/s)? I will try.
Do you have any videos recording with the R10? Especially for filming hunting or fishing adventures. Any tips I would love to hear about them. Just a beginner.
I don't specifically have any videos like that, sorry... Those types of videos tend to be non camera specific based and you can find tons and tons of people on youtube doing that sort of stuff. It tends to not be for beginners though, which is why I made this video so you can at least understand the concepts in order to try and emulate/ duplicate the style you are interested in. I recommend just getting out there and start shooting with what you learned in this video! You will be surprised how good it comes out... Story telling and composition also factor in to the quality of the video as well which there are many videos on youtube to watch and learn.... This game has a lot of elements and the Pro's really do make it look easy.... I still feel like a beginner myself often times ;)
I would go with the R10, because the M50 has been discontinued and is no longer being supported with new lenses and stuff... The R10 has the RF mount which offers more lens options, although a lot of them are expensive!
Yeah, that is what I would recommend if you are just starting out. Maybe like 1/500sec or 1/1000sec in shutter priority mode depending on the lighting, lens you are using, and speed of the animal you are tracking.
I have a canon r10 please be advise which mode is the best using … and also I need to buy another canon camera which one is the best … please be advise sir Thanks … ❤🎉
Well it depends on what you are doing and your skill level which mode to use. Based on your question I would say start with Auto Mode if you don't know which mode to use. In general I would use Aperture Mode most of the time and for portraits. Shutter mode is great for sports if you need a fast shutter or for long er exposures if you need a slower shutter. Manual Gives you full control, but you need to know how everything works fully to use it effectively. As far as which camera, currently the R3 geni.us/slh9noS is the best model in my opinion, then the R5 geni.us/fBiDPU and the the R6 Mark II geni.us/kKxMhW
We just bought the R10 and I enjoyed the couple of videos I have watched so far - great information and explained in a "R10 for Dummies" format (which is much appreciated). Will be looking for a nice Zoom lens - we bought the 18-150 mm with the camera. I want to take pictures in Costa Rica of wildlife as well as landscape on an upcoming adventure to Portugal and Spain. Thoughts and suggestions for lenses that won't cost an arm and a leg? We are strictly amateurs documenting our travels. :-) I'll peruse your videos as well and see if there are any that would address my question! (Side note: We have a Canon SX 740 that takes GREAT pics, and bought the R10 to move up from a Rebel T3 which we never really learned how to use)...
In the A+ mode there is a rainbow-like button in the lower right corner on the screen with lots of choises behind. Please make a tutorial about that. Thank you for great videos 🎉
Many times when I hand my camera to someone else to take my photo, they focus on something other than my face. What setting should I set the camera for when others take a photo of me (resulting in my face being in focus)?
I would leave it on the wide area and have the facial recognition on. Make sure they don't touch the screen, because that will change the focus to touch area most likely...
Hi Jason I'm struggling with my camera has been shooting in HDR PQ mode and I'm trying to transfer them to my phone but it's saying I need to convert them to JPEG on my camera. how do I do that please ? I have the Canon EOS R10? Iv found your videos very good as iv only just got my camera. Thank you for your help.
Hey Jason! Great video! I was following along and noticed I don't have an option for Exposure+DOF, do you know why this might be? My firmware is up to date and all that, just don't have that same setting. Thanks!
