Great vid man and great to see you again ! I always did find PRS tone a little too slick for me but they indeed do their own thing. To find a guitar that would stop fender from making strats/ teles & Gibson from making LPs/SGs would be difficult if not impossible. Great points were raised in this vid and I especially like how you neatly wove a crime drama and demo into one :) Keep at it dude!

the headstock bit was too funny👌 (and even a PRS with a "f- type" vibrato system has its own voice, and it can't all come down to the slight difference in scale length; which is only on some of their range anyways). love em or hate em, their creator is a big brain freak that has mental maps of energy/signal chains that would blow our minds. sweet vid.

BTW, I bought two Harley Benton SG clones over quarantine and...uhhhthey're dope. A PRS would be great for beginners because you'd be learning on a very nice guitar that's set up well and enjoyable to play. But they are more expensive so if you don't stick with it then you made an expensive mistake.

I think you're wrong,my 594 S2 gives me a better Gibson tone it doesn't get muddy like a LP does and the split coil pickups give me a more refined Strat and Tele tones,in my opinion it's a Gibson killer.

From Leo: I have been playing my 1st SG since 1971. Even bought a 2nd one. Washburn idol series(Wi64 and Wi66) was just as playable with far better ergonomics and balance with no quality issues. I bought a couple of them. It is hard to crush the SG 40 year head start. That thin body PRS looks like a great guitar, that I would possibly buy, but as you say, The SG will still survive honest competition.

Props to PRS for making what they do. I just can’t get behind them for the the following reasons: 1) body shape 2) headstock 3) overall look and 4) most importantly, the midrange sonics of the guitars just aren’t vibey enough for me. But again, they make great products. Thanks for the video!

No- construction is nothing alike. People think because a guitar is mahogany with a. Set neck it’s identical. The neck to body ratio, flat top, and much lesser mass of the SG makes it entirely different animal which is why none of PRS’ offerings have ever sounded anything like it save maybe the Vela/Starla but still those are much closer to LP Specials than SGs.

I prefer PRS guitars in general over Gibson, and have never been a huge SG fan. I did buy and quickly sell an S2 594 Thinline. It was lighter, better designed and better built than an SG but the pickups, electronics, hardware and gig bag are cheap and once you factor in the upgrades you’re better off buying a nice used core model.

As the owner of both a ‘72 Gibson SG and a PRS Custom 22, I can honestly say, the PRS is easier to play. The PRS has a growl that almost matches the SG. That being said, I would love to have the McCarty, but I can’t justify it, since I already have those tones covered 🥲
