- On the 9th video of my 2024 Travels, I camp at the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico. This is my kind of city! Although I had a "Rocky" start, things were better after admiring this truly unique State Park.

The stars in New Mexico are unreal!
Especially in that area! Western New Mexico has great night skies
Hot damn sir, I am super impressed with your drone! That thing is amazing.
Your photography is so good. I love the way you see the world. Thank you for your wholesome, wonderful content. And thank you for sharing your meal with us ❤
Incredible video. I never cease to be amazed at the lengths you go to provide such amazing vlogs. Many thanks. Stay safe.
There are only a few non reservation sites for camping. Half of the hook up sites, I think it was the odd numbers and the non-hookup sites around 40 to 45. Everything else is reservation only. Sites 29 to 33 are dubious since the west windmill makes noises when the wind blows.
The visitor center is only open when they have a volunteer to man it. There is one there on Monday's. It was closed Tuesday and Wednesday when we were there St. Paddy's day weekend.
Wow!
I haven't been there since I was a child...
Before it was commercialized...
No picnic tables, no fee to go in, you could park anywhere you wanted, have a picnic.and crawl all over the rocks!!
Hello again Slim and thumbs UP! I will watch the video twice because it is an amazing video! I appreciate all the time that you put into filming and editing. The night time lapse of the Star lite sky is mesmerizing ! Thank you for taking us along Slim!
I kept waiting too see Fred and Wilma. Keep the good stuff coming.
Ya know what?! I wondered why it seemed familiar when there! Of course! You're right. 😊😂😅
Me too! And Dino!

Really love your Nightscape / Astro Timelapse !!! Awesome :-)))
Great video Slim. So relaxing to watch. I really enjoyed your walk through the boulders near dusk. The music was very spiritual. You could just almost picture what it would have been like for the first humans to find this area. They must have felt it was very sacred. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Amazing video, loved the night sky.
Look in Wal-Mart in the isle where the boxes and bag potatoes are, Hungry Jack makes a hash browns in a box milk carton shaped. Just add water, then fry. No refrigeration needed. 😁
You can get dehydrated hash browns. They come in a small carton (like you'd get milk in). You pour hot water in the carton, rehydrate the hash browns, and fry them up. Anything left in the carton, you put in your fridge for breakfast, with eggs. :)
Nice wildlife and rock sculptures. That one looked rock hard. :)

Magical Place ❤
Night lapse is
breathtaking ❣️
Thank You 🙏👍
What a fascinating park.
The owl did it for me.
I always hear them, but never see them.
Almost reminds me of the set for the Movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock"... a very creepy movie for its day....thanks again very enjoyable
Love the way you articulate your travels in your videos. Prayers of safty hapiness and health
Loved the "follow you camera" perspective. Great video! 😁😁😎😎👍👍
Great synopsis and photography; brings back memories when we camped there a couple years ago. City of Rocks Visitor Center is definitely worth the time as well. The overall "theme" of the park is sky, constellations, planets...all things astronomical due to the clear, incredible night skies. The trail Slim walked on through the rocks has interpretive signs that are placed proportionate to our planet system with the trailhead near the visitor center the center sun. So you'll get a few signs right away, and then they're spaced further apart as you walk. Campsites are named for constellations. It's really a wonderful gem. By the way, the two birds were Canyon Towhee and Rock Wren (along with raven and great horned owl). Well done. A fun place to stay; 2-3 nights will give you plenty of time to enjoy all the amenities. Oh, the Deming area has a few wineries that are worth a stop!!!
The photography is excellent. Beautiful park, 2thumbs up.
Slim, Idaho Spuds makes freeze-dried hash brown potatoes ! They come in small "milk carton" sized packages and are very easy to prepare. We find them at Costco and some other places as well. Tasty, easy and lightweight, what could go wrong? Gluten-free and NON GMO, just add water !
I can't believe I went through Deming a few years ago and never knew this place existed. I LOVE ROCKS. :)
I worked in the Visitor center about 20 years ago, and enjoyed being there.
Another bell ringer of an episode. You are a great traveling man. NM grows on you, a beautiful state. Semper Gumby.
We stayed there last year and loved it!! Very quiet, great scenery and plenty of hiking to do. And Deming is a nice small town. An even BETTER choice is south of Deming at Rockhound SP, outstanding views!!! And don't forget about chilis in Hatch, NM close by!!
Love the beard. City of Rocks rocks. I love the names you gave the rock formations. Thanks
I would LOVE being in the rocks
Thanks once again my friend for another great video. I appreciate all the work you put into this video.
New Mexico is amazing, thanks for the great video.
Slim you rock!!!😂👍👏🏻
Holy time travel batman!. I thought I clicked on a far in the future Foresty Forest video.
Very enjoyable....Thanks Slimmy Slim
I went there a couple of years ago, and was really surprised how cool it was in the middle of nowhere. I walked all the places you did. It was great to revisit virtually. Thanks!
Simply an amazing video. We really love watching you on your adventures. The camera work in this one is fabulous.
Boy o boy the wind is something but the rocks are a world of there own thanks for the trip 👍
I was fascinated by the trees, the rocks and their formations, that place is so magical. Thank you for your videos, I enjoy them a lot since I can't do this traveling thing. I am chained to a phone 40 hours a week and sometimes more. I hope one day not too far away to do the same too! 😊
Thanks for showing the travel video. This is a good example, if the use of a drone is OK, then places to explore and places to avoid.
Slim that meal tasted wonderful! Thanks so much... I really could've used another bite or two though.....😂
You take beautiful videos. It seems as if we are there with you.
I remember falling asleep in some of those rock-a-loungers!
New Mexico is stunning, thanks for the video. Have a wonderful week
Hey Slim! Great to see a new video! Hope you are having a great day! 😊
Truly interesting spot...thanks for sharing with those of us who travel vicariously through you. A really unique park!
It may have commented on earlier yet one of the best highlights of the City of Rocks is the search for the hidden petroglyphs. There are 10 of them and the visitors center has clues on how/where to find them. Some are very difficult to find. Great park, just there about a month ago.
Great video and an awesome place to hang out.
Stunning video; I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thank you!
The time we camped at City of Rocks was an adventure. We arrived well after sunset and there is absolutely no artificial lighting back in the rocks. To find a site, we crept along in our truck and using a flashlight to check out options. When we could discern the red tail lights of other vehicles, we would move on until we found a vacant site. We could sense the looming monoliths around us, but not really see them. We were awestruck in the morning light to.find ourselves surrounded by those giant rocks. Your video is excellent and makes me want to make a return visit. And the showers are excellent!
boy that is some really amazing scenery once again. I am really enjoying your trip, and now planning an itinerary to the American south west with our trailer. Keep up the great work, and as always safe travels......
YAY!!!!!!!!!Thanks Slim!
I look forward with excitement for your adventures, I love them so. Again I say you are an artist with your videos, so beautiful. Thank you for showing this City of Rocks to us, I have never seen them. They are cool.
Outstanding!
Thanks, Slim!

Slim..u gave Nat geo a run for there money with that time lapse night sky scene… I was absolutely floored and mesmerized! The rest was awesome too! Thanks!

Thanks, Slim, for taking us along. Loved the scenery, wildlife and the rocks ❤
Looks like a great spot to explore. Thanks for taking us along
Great video! Really enjoyed it! Thank you!❤️
Great Video! Thanks for all of your hard work!!!
Fascinating. Even enjoyed the music!!
I agree that the registration instructions were confusing. The rock park was really unique. Great that you spotted the owl. It looked like either a long eared or a great horned.
I grew just 50 miles north of the City of Rocks in Silver City. For someplace that is really spectacular and off the beaten path, check out the Catwalk in Glenwood New Mexico. Kinda off the beaten path and one of my favorite places to visit when I get back down there.
Beautiful picture and video of the stars. Love your videos.
Slim as always great job love the channel
Stunning photography!
This my friend is one of your best. I watched it twice. Amazing footage.
That's Heavy brother!😎👍
"Rock On!"✌️
Those night shots! And that magic of filming yourself from behind. Nice!
Brilliant!
Your hashbrowns and veggie dogs nearly had my mouth watering! That looked so delicious! 🤤😋
Outstanding and awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along

Beautiful video , Slimpotatohead . Thank you for the video .
Love your vidoes❤
That scenery is just captivating! I've never been in a real desert.
I allways enjoy the videos well filmed and edited a pleasure to watch
The night sky was just amazing 💕
Thanks Slim for another entertaining video. An old army friend steered me to your channel awhile back and I am enjoying your adventures. I appreciate how much effort you put in your productions having to set up the camera and walk by the scene or drive out of a campsite. I spoke too quick this morning to my wife when at the end you drove out and left your chock block and stick behind. Seconds later you came back into frame to pick them up. It was then I said, how sharp am I, he had to come back and get the camera on the tripod anyway, duh! Thanks again, safe travels. We are RV'rs from Washington State but stay on our side of the rockies.
I went and bought an x1 drone because your footage in a recent video impressed me!
So that is what he was using. I thought it might be but I did not hear any drone noise (edited out maybe?).
@roadtripwarriors7458 The phone app has a feature that will record the audio but filter out the drone sound!
@@dennisryckman5210 Wow! Nice! Thanks! I will have to get me one of those.
Love this landscape. Gives me a sense of time past - the ancient. Great post Slim!
Beautiful sun set
Wow neat stuff slim thx for sharing.
Love this park.
Again..awesome...thanks Slim, stay safe, we'll be waiting for your next one...🙂👍👍
I love the color of that Chevy!! It looked terrific in the direct sunlight!
Wow, what a cool place! Love the blue skies and desert ambiance. Inspiring. Enjoy it !
What a stunning place! Gorgeous night sky.
Such unique geography! Added to my bucket list!
