You supposed to give the caption like "PC-Style experience in a mobile or tablet" from your given caption like me a lot of other guys will be thought you are showing a app like "Galaxy Dex" that allow to connect any non-samsung and non-supported android device to connect with PC/Laptop and do all the nice things you can do with samsung dex.

@@Tweaky853 Only some Samsung phones support dex, A series cannot run dex, you should check if your phone supports dex before buying it. The S and Note phones are good

No, you can't. For using with HDMI a phone should have USB 3.1. Samsung A70 has USB 2.0.
Or you can use displaylink adapters and you can run phones in usb 2.0 whoch kinda cool. Go check it out here in youtube or google to find out

I really already wanted to buy an older Samsung phone for the DEX, but now I do see that Android is an open device, and it just can Make More! So now I will buy a modern Xaomi phone that is way better IMO, for the same price!

However this didn't work on my phone it gave me an error when I was enabling freeform mode it said that needed to connect to Android SDK on my PC and run a ADB code to enable resizeable windows
So this only works on 8.0 and above?

Hey it's been 3 years but I just want to tell you it's possible! I installed one UI 6.1 on my old a5 and now it has Dex and not Alot of lag if you don't play video games

Sadly dex for PC (the other way of using dex with a PC and a USB C 3.1 cable) doesn't work specifically on the s8, s8+ and the s8 active. I have both an s8 active and s8 and it sucks not to be able to use dex for PC
Even if you didnt have that taskbar app you could use pop up view. Just like dex without task bar.

Yes, I have tested on my galaxy tab s6 lite and Taskbar works well on the tablet but very sluggish and annoying to use in external monitor by Miracast smart view as tab s6 lite does not support USB video output.

i have a note 4 with note 8 rom. so... it supports the media dock. but i would like to use the DEX windows 10 app. i tried to install the dex apk in the phone and try. but i get a parsing package error and cant install it.
I cracked my phone and the screen is now pixelated and cannot use my phone (Galaxy Note 10+). Is there a button sequence on the phone that can activate dex onto my PC? I connected note 10+ to my PC and I don't see any icons or anything pop up. I am trying to grab as much contact info, text messages, pictures from the busted phone. Please would appreciate any insights. Thx!

I've got a 2019 tab a 10.1 , a hdmi and usb c cable, also a new lcd monitor, I have tried everything to get what's on my tablet to the monitor. It wont even let me change get the USB controlled by settings, or use USB settings. Cheers
Your trying to use HDMI HML (HDMI OVER USB) and its only on Flagship Samsung Devices.
Hi. I had the same issue with the same tablet. I bought a Chromecast and connected to a monitor, and from the tablet side I bought an adapter from usb-c to an one usb and one usb-c. In that way I can charge the tablet and also connect a keyboard an a mouse using a usb dongle.

Idk why it does not work on my tab A 10.1 2019. I can enable developer mode and the setting you talk about but when I open the apps can't resize them. Any idea of why?

The windows apps feature is actually built in already in tab a 10.1 2019, when you open the recent apps, long press on the app icon that you want to open in a window, there is an option in there

ANYONE seen a Dex activated using ANOTHER Android? Meaning, the way it works with (software) PC. You plug it in and it detects/ switches to Dex on phone and opens in PC. We need this software for Android. WHY? So we could plug our phone (1 cable type-C ) into Oculus Quest 2 VR and use Dex.

Thank you. I am looking for solutions. My laptop and LTE Galaxy Tablet were stolen, among other things. I can replace my Galaxy Tab A7 Lite LTE for free now, funny since I paid $140 for it a few months earlier. I have been looking for a way to use it as a standard laptop/desktop since I can pick one up for nothing more than paying for it's connection next month and I can assemble a desktop environment much like you have done for not much money. I tried this method and it wiped out all my saved Chrome bookmarks on my home screen. I quickly put my phone back as it was. In future I'm not going to mess around with my phone or follow tips like this as I never know what other settings it may affect. Beware!

Yeah it's not quite DEX but a screen overlay for android I've compared them both before doesn't work like or do near what you can on DEX opening file's ect and drag n drop from desktops to dex ect! Best to leave these apps alone they will sometimes wipe your device aswell stick to DEX if it's supported if not just buy a laptop!
Nobody is trying to run Dex apps. This is for people looking to save money and use the tablet with a hardware keyboard for productivity.
That's all nice and well but the A72 doesn't support Dex and "Smart View" isn't working when plugged into a Dex station, Miracast not working.
When connected to a monitor via HDMI the mouse / keyboard disappears.
It's like Samsung intentionally crippled the phone.
I'm not buying a Samsung phone again ever.

That is not the same feel as dex
Nobody said it is same look and feel as DEX. The point is that you can use this on OLDER tablets and phones, to get an experience that is somewhat similar to DEX. MANY people still have older devices and don't want to upgrade, but still need some type of desktop, windowed ability.
It's not perfect, but it works fine.

Dex is not revolutionary, the concept is actually pretty old. Microsoft tried to implement a "universal interface" back in the Windows 8 days and Canonical also tried something similar with their Ubuntu phone a few years back. I'm sure you can find even older examples if you dig around the internet.
