In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
The fact that Alice and Russell didn't get 5 points for not only keeping Alex dry but making him even drier is criminal.
I think this was before the team tasks were split differently, but then again the 5-3 split happened later in the season with the Hops task where Liza did all the work yet everyone on her team got 5 points when Team Funk got 3
The thing is winning 4 to 1 is better than 5 to 3.
And compared to other team tasks, the split of 4 to 1 was fair.
"let's get a hairdryer and really dry him up as well"
I love it when Contestants just carry on with the task instead of just leaving and saying i'm done, the showers turned away, the hose is disconnected it's over, yet they still remained and made it more amusing making Alex drier than he was :)
Half Of A Contestants Role Is To Be Funny
@@awesomegames9216 One of the reasons Series 9 is one of the weakest, Jo and David just...don't want to be there and half ass so much, the saving grace is Ed gamble!
And then you have Rod, Alex would of been naked.
@@hiddenbutdeadly really? I quite liked them cause they didn't give a shit about the tasks
well they have to consider the possibility that the other team did the exact same thing so they need to cement their lead.
Alice's "wait, instead of covering (Alex), why don't we just cover the shower...?" was the spark of lateral thinking that smashed this task.
Contestants performing lateral thinking and succeeding is my favorite part of the show.
My favorite will always be Rhid tying up Alex to prevent him from touching Rhod after he "Freed himself".
"You may not touch Alex at any point, wouldn't want to" is probably a huge relief for Alex given what a certain contestant in the prior season did
???
@@sydster999 Series 5 there was a task called “Give Alex a special cuddle” lol
Or,
Because Rhod Gilbert exists.
Given that this is also the season of "Alex, walk into the shed and stick your bare ass into this cake" that only went so far. Lmao
@@silverfoxxflame I think they film team tasks at the end as well so Alex had likely already experienced the cake at this point 😂
I loved the team lineups in season 6. Alice and Russell had the general vibe of a brother-sister team and Liza, Tim and Azim gave a spot-on impression of a childless aunt and uncle spoiling their favorite nephew over the weekend and pulling out all the wacky crap he cant do at home.
HAHHAHA YES

That moment when someone on one of these british shows says something incomprehensible and you were 100% willing to just write some shit like "tarpeter" off as some sort of british slang, until all the other british contestants are also confused by it
😂😂😂😂 right. I was about to store “tarpeter” deep in my brain as a British synonym for umbrella
I think she maybe meant "tarpaulin"
I can tell you that it's absolutely not British slang, but I can also tell you with absolute certainty that it's spelled "tarpenter"
I feel like the egg task was originally meant to be a tiebreaker and they just added it in as a regular task since it wouldn’t be able to break any ties and has no effect on the placements.
And also, its fuckin awesome seeing everyone just nailed it
Good theory! The attempts lining up with the drum beats was also incredibly satisfying.
I think you’re probably right. Also slightly to troll the contestants since each of them individually knows they nailed it, but they don’t realise yet that so did everyone else. Mainly Russell of course 😂
Yeah, shutting off the water was what came to my mind before he even finished reading the task. That said, the dry martini was absolutely genius use of irony.
To quote Bender: "Using words for something other than their literal intention: THAT...is...irony!"
@@captainphoenix Well technically saying one thing but meaning the opposite would be sarcasm, whereas irony is when you expect one thing but the opposite happens, so for example if someone says "the weather's lovely today" and it suddenly starts raining heavily, that is irony. If it is already raining heavily and someone says "lovely weather today", that is sarcasm. Though lots of people tend to use them as synonyms. And yes, I am fun at parties.
Well ackshually I thought of that before I even watched the video hah take that
@@wardeni4806 Well, actually, there are different types of irony. Socratic irony, dramatic/tragic irony, situational irony, and sarcasm (which is a type of irony deliberately used to invoke laughter or to display contempt) are a few. So the use here is irony, just one which is more commonly called sarcasm.
And I am also fun at parties.

Why isn’t the shower head task in any of the ‘when the contestants outsmarted the taskmaster’ sort of edits?! Definitely deserves a top spot there!
I'm still wondering to this day whether or not Alex just had brought the blue suit, noticed that you can see every wet stain on it instantly (which makes wearing it to events or on stage quite stressful I suppose) and thought "we might as well get a good task out of it"
He looks great in it! He's a stylish lad. 😊
'If we get a good task out of it I can claim it back as a work expense'
I think it is custom made out of something like blotter paper. At 3:05 it is backlit and you can see it is almost transparent.
@@barbeerian ah, if it’s see through maybe it’s Alex’s chosen form of lingerie
@@barbeerian It's probably just made from light, thin fabric. I've had dress shirts (not suits, because I've pretty much always owned dark colored suits) I could see through in sunlight.
Russell is just talented... He just comes and does and things happen...

Creepy
alice is just perfection
Asim's little applause at the end was great, like "I know 1 point is the best I'm getting, let's move on"
They hadn't agreed on team funk yet
Did Alice Levine ever consent to that team name?
@@Gimpyjoe Nope, but the name still happened haha.
@@Gimpyjoe no she's adamant and doesn't want to be with a "MAN" teammate
@@Gimpyjoe nope. But she did give Russell a proper shunting ;)
4:38 Such care & attention: "That might stop him suffocating"
Series 6 has basically the strongest performances across the board from all the players. All the other series with high numbers of total points, always at least one person way in the back, like series 7 or 12. But here, even the lowest scorer, Alice, did really well.
One of my favourite series!! My favourite part on that egg task is how much Russell hated himself after watching his reaction walking off. 🤣
Liked Team Funk but I thought Rob Beckett and Sara Pascoe being called the Ayrian twins was funnier
The two of them had such good chemistry.

They hadn't agreed on Team Funk yet.
I was so sure I'd see yellow ducks in this video and some "jumping" forward motion.
Russell Howard is just so impossibly charming. Confidence without seeming stuck up, you love to see it.
Really this whole cast were just the most composed and congenial bunch. ❤️
I love that the house had 2 hairdryers in it lol
Seriously one of the best casts.
Asim ruins this cast for me. (IMO he is worse than the spaghetti cheater crow. :) )
But I respect many people liking him.
"We haven't settled on team funk"
Looks at video name
"Ok nobody show Alice"
We grouped them like that, because of their work schedules...that goes for every series I reckon...takes the thought out of it a bit.
No, they’ve obviously done it based on age, personality or gender sometimes.
@@icturner23 yeah, Series 6 was the first since probably the first series in which the teams felt completely random (and even then I think series 1 did have an age trend)
@@iliketrains3495 Alex said that each team’s ages added up to 100
@@mariem8033 You can always make up an explanation at the end
I just want to say, that the 2nd latest episode of the peoples podcast from when this comment was written, explains it and it seems they do pick the teams rather then it being luck based as I earlier suggested.
If Alice called me her little ferret, I would simply die.
She called alex many nicknames and i am jealous
Same.
I was wondering whether they were allowed to ask him to step out of the circle but disconnecting the shower did the job as well.
I always thought for contestants they should have a secret task set for them in the beginning of the season that they don't reveal until the finale. For instance:
For Alice it could have been "give Alex a new nickname and greet him with it at the beginning of every task"
For James Acaster: Do NOT greet Alex at the beginning of any task no matter what.
LOL I think giving each person something random and small to do like that and making sure they do it casually in every task would be hilarious -- in addition to all the random single tasks set for people.
Great thought!
To be honest, forcing things that sounds like a pretty bad/boring idea to me. A good part of the fun for quirks like this is seeing them develop naturally. Having them just be mandatory all the time takes out all the uniqueness of it.
@@NivMizzet89 It could be like how Alex went out of his way to have his own competition with Sally Phillips when he tried to make more fish puns than her without her even knowing and simply seeing if someone catches onto whatever's going on.
Its not less boring than having someone counts how many beans come in a can or how many grains of rice are in a bag LOL
They gave Alex a beverage and a light breeze whilst keeping him perfectly dry. Honestly looks like a pretty pleasant moment for Alex.
I was really hoping someone added extra eggs onto the table in an egg box. Rod would!
After laying face down on the floor spread out like a murder victim, and then he's probably shove the eggs up Alex's ass.
Wouldn't it technically be tampering with the eggs?🤔
@@toxaginda1426 Not with the provided eggs, it wouldn't be......
@@sidlori1592 it was not specified in the rules though, which eggs the contestants are not supposed to tamper with
“Driest Alex wins” 🤣🤣🤣
I'm a simple man. I see Alice in the thumbnail, I watch the video.
'she's a wizard'
Alice is just stunning
@@WilliamReid-m4r man I've seen you in five different comment sections saying this. 😂
"This is a dry Martini" 🤣🤣🤣
I think I heard somewhere that the reason why the egg is shaped like that is so that it won't roll and fall. I think it's from Kirby series (the cartoon).
Eehhh sorta, they are shaped that way so that they won't roll very far, as far as falling you are probably thinking of the fact that egs don't break if they fall on grass (generally) because otherwise falling from the hen could be enough to break them
7:00 When I watched this for the first time I was waiting for them to call out Russell for this 'touch', granted it's just his shirt it seems
Sigh. I wish every day in my world Alice Levine greeted me by a new pet name!

It’s spelt ‘tarpeter’ or alternatively ‘tarpinter’, so that’s probably why you haven’t found one.
@@icturner23
I think they’re using the Spanish translation.
@@icturner23 I'm sure she meant "tarpaulin" which is where the name "tarp" came from. But, "tarpinter" is certainly funny/weird.
@@boydstephensmithjr Thanks, Captain Obvious.
The Tarpenters wrote some decent music.
Russell is the real winner of the season in my opinion
you had to yank it off the table, but there are no rules against pulling it out from under the eggs slowly, then just yanking it off the table
I swooned hard over Alice this season she was cunning and funny.
alice levine is one of the most beautiful women on the planet
The other team should have just made Alex keep the original umbrella. It was already keeping him dry from the rain. 😂
My goodness, Alice Levine is outrageously beautiful.
I think I started watching Taskmaster because I was going through an Alice Levine thing.
your right absolutely stunning
Now let's see how they nailed the one with throwing clothes onto the coconuts. :D
series 6 was SO GOOD
I loved Team Funk
I really really loved them bunny hopping.
BTW they nailed that task too.
2:08
Tim Vine cracked an egg.
You can hear it as it happens... but you can also see it.
The side of the egg is crushed in slightly after impacting the table as it rolls to a stop it rests on this crushed side.
NO POINTS
Most eggs unbroken wins.
If all but one breaks no eggs... then Tim gets NO POINTS.
I ONLY mention this because Joe Wilkinson lost out on the greatest potato throw of all time... because of a 2cm step over a line.
(Best bit of sport ive ever seen)
Taskmaster usually goes above and beyond to look at replays and punish contestants for technical rule breaks.
Well in this case it was super obvious Tim broke an egg.
A bit unfair to have the task to keep alex dry, and having one team having to put up with the rain isn't it?
If they were close, yes. But I don't think it mattered at all in the end.
Those weird little pixel issues made me think my monitor was due to be decomissioned.
The task didn´t say "you may not move the eggs before pulling the table cloth of the table."
Alice is one of the most underrated contestants from an entertainment standpoint, considering she's not a stand up comedian she was actually the wittiest and funniest contestant on the series 6 IMO. (terrible at tasks though lol)
Physics would dictate it is likely that the eggs all stay where they started regardless of how fast you pull as long as you pull fast enough to get the eggs rolling. Assuming you keep it level

Patting yourself on the back there? It's easier when you're sitting behind a screen.
Go Alice, go!
I love the shower task but I always felt it was unfair to the team of three that it was raining during their attempt. Moving/unplugging the shower would not have kept Alex dry in their case

Thing is one of Tim and Liza's eggs was stopped from falling off by the task
Thing is that doesn't matter!
Leaving the task on the table it started on isn’t tampering with anything.
@@icturner23 Rules wise it's fine but it's less impressive.
@@crazylizard1889 It’s less slick but in a way more entertaining.
I think it was more egregious that Alice just kinda tugged. Wasn't really a yank.
Russ and Alice ship 🚢
Can we just talk how envelopes stopped the eggs and it doesn't count as tempering - so you could build a barrier of envelops around the eggs
russel is the best :D
They should bring back Alice and or Russel.
Didn't Russell step into the circle when putting the blanket on Alex?
He was only forbidden from entering the circle when the shower was on. It wasn't then running.
I don’t get the reference at 6:35, anyone can enlighten?
I would like to get this as well
Not really a reference. He said "dids" to rhyme with "kids" and people laughed at how bad it sounded.
Tarpaulin 😊
I think it would work better if they grabbed the cloth from the other side of the table.
I have nothing worthwhile to add to the discussion of this clip, but I just want to say that Alice Levine is gorgeous.
one of the most beautiful women on the planet
satin is slippery then no problem, easy task !
Season 6 might be considered the worst season, but it's still much better than most things on TV
Season 6 has Alex sitting on a cake, all-time legendary moment. It also has one of my personal favourite tasks, the bedtime story for grown-ups.
I'm so surprised by this, I think the tasks and the cast are really great. Alice is sweet but psycho, Russell is an adorable brat, Asim seems charming but a bit of a ditz, and Liza is surprisingly filthy. I think it's a really fun series 😊
Edit: how can I forget Tim Vine!? He's so daft and sweet. Ref TM's comment: "Of course he gets a point, I want to take him home" 🥰
I think the fact that it was followed by one of the two or three best series of all time probably gave it less time to get established in people’s fondness.
@@icturner23 agreed. The preceding 2 series were excellent too. For me the lowest points were series 8, 10 and 13, but it's funny how everyone has different most and least favourites. 😊
Season 8 was definitely worse. I personally love season 6, liza is one of my all time favourite contestants. I cried laughing the first time I watched Alex sit on a cake
