In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. Приколы
The fact that you can see John experience the 5 stages of grief internally after Sarah finds a secret grape is pure gold
E
“I’m opening chickpeas 😢”
And after he spent more time looking for the grapes than he did getting out of the caravan.
Every single task he's in his emotions are about the most funniest things in the world
This was pretty good, but I was really hoping to see someone go out of their mind like David Correos did when Taskmaster NZ did this task.
2:38 Alex's face after John cutting the rope with the locked scissors is priceless 😂
'Guys, we might be pushing John too far.'
Gotta love it when someone bothers to add the timestamp
That's unmistakable regret at calling him weak.
Just before that, as John is cutting, you can see Alex in the background and his expression is just as good ahah
Although love can make a man stronger, spite does the trick as well.
I really wanted them to show us where the other grapes were hidden. Also, we can now assume anytime there is a task involving grapes there will be multiple hiding around the room.
You can see a grape sitting on the tail of a dinasaur on the shelf
@@ruthsodden730 wow good eye!
2:08
7:32 Liza's must have fell
Wouldn't be surprised if one was taped under the table.
Sarah would have found it, if it was under the table
I was convinced that John had a secret task going the whole season where he had to sabotage himself and score the least points.
Ah Nish Kumar approach
Or Munya had to mention Zimbabwe in every task
Asking if a TV aerial is a ladder might just be the deepest plunge into insanity the show has ever seen. I’m convinced he thought he was supposed to sabotage ALL the team tasks definitely.
Secret task, come in last place in every task to win the entire series.
Funny thing is he didn’t actually score all that badly for a series loser, in fact I’m pretty sure he and Fern are the second highest-scoring losers, behind Alice Levine
"sometimes I don't know if he's the best ambassador for Zimbabwe" is such a good summary of Munya during this whole show
john’s ordeal is worth it for the look on alex’s face when he manages to cut the string with the locked scissors after “oh, too weak?”
It was at that point, Alex was very glad to be outside. Behind a locked door.
It wouldn't have stopped the bear attack, but the headstart was just enough so he could see his life flash before his very eyes.
I love watching John do tasks because even when he seemingly does okay at first he always manages to mess the task up completely in sometimes unthinkable ways
He is thorough though, just never at the right time, like with the chickpeas as Greg admitted, it's something they would do
Unless it's hitting medicine balls or ramming airport carts into each other.
Nice cameo appearance from Frank Skinner’s grape scissors 😂
E
Yeah weird, how did those get there?
@@CrimsonKageThe prize task doesnt entail them losing their stuff, basically the contestants get to take home anything they brought in (that they didnt steal)
But then the contestants get to decide what to do with the prizes, some people give them to production, such as the grape scissors
I love Dara just immediately understanding the gist of how these things work, just like 'Yup, Grapes of Wrath, obviously gonna have something hidden in there, and we're done'
I was on the edge of my seat, if he finds the secret grape in it. That would have been something
But how long did it take him to find the book?
Love how they managed to put Frank’s unusual item to good use after 13 series! :)
OMG, I knew I'd seen those scissors before
@@twowheellattehave I met the potatoes before?
I don't get why people are complaining about them using tasks from Taskmaster NZ. Alex Horne created the show. The show is for entertainment purposes. There have been hundreds of tasks up to this point. And the fun of the show is seeing how different people respond to the task. I applaud the hard work of the entire crew on all series and versions. Thank you all so much for some desperately needed laughs. Love from the US ❤
So my best guess is that they view it as "contracting out" the tasks to the other shows, or they're annoyed to see a task repeated. Another possibility is that there was a contract with TM NZ that they weren't allowed to repeat any of the tasks from the UK show. So it could come off as hypocritical and cheap would be my guess.
In my opinion, I enjoyed it
Yeah, it seems extremely silly. Also, if they hadn't, we wouldn't have gotten to see John Kearns trying to open a can of chickpeas looking for a grape and I for one think that would be a tragedy.
People also forget there is a whole team of people who come up with the tasks not just Alex and I would put money on those teams working on multiple series but with a so called "local" twist. In terms of the sabotage your team twist there have been series challenges in the past when everyone on the team got given different tasks which did nearly the same thing. Just less direct.
Also most other versions of the series have also reused British tasks so it was bound to happen both ways
All the literation's are brilliant (except the American one) and it is pretty ironic people claim someone that creator the show is stealing stuff from its other versions LOL.
International versions repeat tasks from the UK version all the time
It's not even the same as the NZ one other than it being in a caravan & involving a grape, the steps taken to get out are completely different.
Rhod Gilbert would have wrestled Alex and burst out the door the moment he read "your time starts now"
I think Alex knows rod well enough to close the door as he's reading... still a toss up
Rhod would Torment Alex until he brings him the grape to eat
And threw a javelin at him for a good measure
Come on then.... He would have climbed out the roof vent, claimed it wasn't a window and had Alex try and catch him as he jumped off the roof
@@JKSSubstandard That was one of my first thoughts.
I really really want to know where all the other hidden grapes were.
@mike spike Yes
I'm still convinced there was a grape in the can of chickpeas...
There was one on the dinosaur on the top shelf i think
There may have been others in the other grape related books on the shelves?
0:02 found one
my best guess is that there was a grape hidden around each step of the escape room
9:33 I love Dara’s “bye bye” and wandering back into the house like a giant toddler
"I'm opening chickpeas." One of the greatest descriptions of failure ever
John came into this series as such an innocent man
He left innocent of any competence too
@@QuantumHistorian Two words:
trolley bowling
He left even more broken
@@Tao_Tology they're was another contestant who was utter rubbish but brilliant at one episode, still came last for the season
@@kurtsudheim825 You replied to the wrong comment.
Love Munya‘s little Naruto run as he leaves the van! 😂😂😂
Fern's "but how?" Is the most charming thing ever said on taskmaster
All I want out of the afterlife is someone who will tell me where all of the secret grapes in this task were hiding. Devastating to know that only one was found out of multiple options, and that I will never know where the rest were
Twist: There were no other secret grapes, Alex just said there were as a next level troll
Looking at the books, there are two other books with grape puns next to 'grapes of wrath' They look to be 'Grape Expectations' and Grape and Prejudice' My money is on there were grapes in there, or at least more clues about where they were in the van.
one can be seen on the tail of a dinosaur in the intro
The second shelf dino has one on his tail.
It would be great if there was one behind the pineapple photo John knocked down.
The fact that it wasn't called the grape escape was a missed opportunity
I genuinely thought one of them wouldve just reached out of the window and opened the door from the outside lmao but i guess Dara did it just as fast anyways lmao
Honestly what i thought lmao
Frank Skinner won the episode where he brought in the grape scissors as a prize. If he didn't take them home, does that mean Tim Key's antlers are somewhere on the set? Have we missed them all these years?
This was one of my fav tasks from the NZ version and I think it should be in every single international version lol
Same!!!!
Good chance we'll have it in as many shows as possible (not all versions have a caravan though)
I liked the NZ version better, plus that whole NZ season was legendary!
When alex says: "The last person to eat Mr Gilbert's grape is Dara" is not only a reference to the title of the movie 'what's eating Gilbert Grape?', but also the name of the headmaster Greg played in the Inbetweeners.
Those grape scissors look like the same ones that, I believe it was, Frank Skinner brought in during episode 1. That is an amazing little callback I have to believe is intentional.
i don’t know why but after watching every season of taskmaster multiple times, this is one of my favourite tasks ever
I explained it in the NZ video's comments. If someone likes Taskmaster, then chances they are into puzzles, escape rooms (probably played The Room on an electronic device), mysteries. This task (along with "Free Alex" s3e2, "Letters that spell CREAMS" s7e8, "Complete this Adventure" s9e2, "HOP" s6e5, "Solve The Riddle" s12e4) totally resonates with the escape room genre. And being locked in the caravan gives a proper one-person escape room feeling. That's the reason we like this one so much.
@@MinekEzQM Except I'm not into that and I still enjoy it. I think what makes it so fun from a viewer point of view is that the way it offers multiple ways of reaching the goal REALLY shows off the different personalities of the contestants. It seems you always get wildly differing results with this one.
I always love when Alex looks back at the camera with fear.
4:01 hold on a minute. Is that Munya doing a Naruto run to the grapes?
John Kearns is like a senile man trapped in a 35-year-old body. How can you NOT love this guy? 😂
Im surprised that no one went full David Correos on this task
I don't think it's physically possible to do as badly as he did
When the audience laughed after they revealed that John took 20 minutes all I could think of was David's 2 hour ordeal
Not everyone is capable of saying David Correos's catchphrase, "URRRRRGGGGGHHHHH"
Because unfortunately there was no reason:
Spoilers warning.
.
.
- No clues outside the caravan
- No money that could've been spent before come to their real purpose
- Lots of shortcuts (not properly locked scissors, hidden grapes)
This task was nowhere near as complex as the NZ version.
I'd never heard of Fern before this series. Bloody hell, she's adorable.
This is true for a lot of contestants for me. Some hilarious and cute people. Have you seen maria?
She’s said she told the birds to shut up as she’s on the autistic spectrum, which effects her brain’s ability to filter noise. I’ve rarely been able to relate to a contestant more. 😊
She seriously contemplated scoffing a plastic grape.
I finally watched this episode last night and it was so good. I’ve loved every single series because there’s always been something special about them and the contestants are always phenomenal, and this season definitely didn’t disappoint.
Little Alex Horne has definitely created magic with this show.
And thank you to the crew! The set always looks spectacular, every single task is entertaining and funny, and the sound and editing are superb!
You all deserve a raise ;)
The TM crew has got to be one of the hardest-working crew on TV. I applaud them.
And yeah, the set always does look amazing. I love seeing what they come up with each season.
7:16 i cant help it, she's so adorable
Love that he gives her hints so she doesn't eat inedible grapes and need to go for medical
The net didn’t say anything about not being able to ask Alex to bring them the grape😂😂 I love this show
I just now noticed that Dara brought the grape scissors with him and am slightly disappointed that it was a loose grape.
I would have loved to see where all the hidden grapes are but hopefully those hidden areas in the caravan come in handy for future tasks.
Oh Munya thinking he could just walk out the door like it’d be that simple was hilarious
The grape on the Dinosaur! How did I not notice that the first time at all? Well guess we didn't know the task was about grapes yet at that time.
Love that Frank’s grape scissors appear 13 series later
This was aaaaalmost as good as "Am I the spider?"
Or, My eyes are circles?
Fern's expression at 7:16 is great.
Genuinely choked on my water when John walked out out of the house with a can opener. My throat burns, there are tears in my eyes, but I loved every second of it.
there were probably grapes in the kitchen too lol
David Correos is quaking
I enjoy how they added "dont jump out of the window" because that was my exact first thought wuen i saw the other version haha
Oh please, please add another 30 sec to your videos so we could see the score 🙏 Loved the task 🥰
These videos are meant to be bait viewers into seeking out the full episodes to watch on official platforms. Including the scores would make less people try to find the full episodes.
@@PhilipWester Wouldn't mind the bait if we could actually find the whole episodes! I'm in Australia and couldn't even access them on the Taskmaster channel.
I don't know if this wasn't the case before since I've only recently gotten into this show, but there are full episodes on the channel itself, don't know if there's seasons missing though, but it has a good amount of them
@@sheilaboston7051I suggest using a VPN set to the US, 'cause I can access full episodes

There's one at 00:01 (dinosaur)
I could warch John say "I'm opening chickpeas" in that disbandment little voice 10,000 times 😂
I just always end up wanting to give John a hug 🤣😂🤣
I really enjoy Alex's childlike, unhelpfully helpful persona. It's so entertaining.
7:15 there's so many emotions there
Fern sounds like a little kid. She's adorable.

No offense, but I liked the New Zealand version better.
Probably because of the novelty. Probably because of no shortcuts. Probably because of the credit card imprinter. Probably because of the two contestants - without spoilers- the one who enjoyed it, and the other one who "has been destroyed by the caravan". :) Probably altogether.
"Alex, would you please bring me a grape."
The part that worried me was that the task said "eat THE grape", but in the bowl there were a whole bunch of grapes. Then we saw Dara say that all but one of those grapes was fake and all was right with the world again.
Except it wasn't, because the secret grapes were accepted as well... So which one is _the_ grape? Why not use the blessing of indefinite articles?
@@tvlwortwahn1322 They're all "the" grape, saying otherwise would be a spoiler that there is more than one.
@@SennaAugustus Well, I would argue that saying "eat a grape" wouldn't spoil the hidden grapes, as from a distance they couldn't tell all but one grape on the pillar were fake - if anything it might make a contestant think they have to search for grapes somewhere else in the house (actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there had been a box of grapes sitting in the fridge...)
I mean, admittedly it doesn't really matter for the entertainment value, however it just seems a bit odd that sometimes contestants are held to very specific phrasings in a task when in other cases it is not even stated as precisely. And I would see this task as an example of the latter. Nonetheless, it was great fun to watch - it is just my pedant's heart that bleeds a little 😅
It also said don't crawl out of the window. So which one is the window?
"Is that like a ladder to something?"
I would've loved to see what John would've done, if Alex answered "Maybe."
2:22 I just noticed that band aid "X" straight from the door at the wall, from Rhod's spear throw haha from previous serie
I feel like there's a lesson that I should be learning from watching all these different types of people approach these strange/unconventional/sometimes difficult/tasks. There are people who get frustrated (which is understandable) but try to keep an upbeat attitude, don't get too upset or depressed when they fail, but keep on going without letting it weigh on them too much. They might not win the task, but they do alright. And that's all we can hope for sometimes in life. I feel like I should try to be less despondent, down, or disappointed with myself when facing difficult obstacles in life and just do my best and move on while trying to stay positive/be upbeat/ or at least not take things too seriously. It's easier said than done, but worth trying I think. 🙂
I want to see John, Nish, and Johnny Vegas on an episode together 😂
Can we take a minute to respect the SPEED of Dara?
John looked like he was about to cry throughout most of that lol
8:48 - Possibly the smartest joke on the show.
"Mr Gilbert" (Greg's character on The Inbetweeners).
"Gilbert Grape" (What's Eating Gilbert Grape, a movie.)
See, if you have to explain it, it's no longer funny. lol
I’m shocked nobody asked Alex to hand them the bowl of grapes
Fern's face when Alex stops her from eating the fake grape 7:19
I MUST LOCATE THE LOST SECRET GRAPES OR ILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN
Why is Fern’s outfit so fantastic?!?!
I love how both times the UK version has borrowed a task from NZ, it has been made "kinder" to the contestants.
Here with the hidden grapes, and then then "hold the milk over the microwave" thing having a set 30min time that if you go over, you are disqualified.
I think the Milk one was just so Alex didn't have to sit with someone for three hours like Paul and David.
On the other hand, hiding the real grape under the fake grapes certainly didn't seem kinder to John! ;P
Yeah. I like the NZ versions better in part for being more difficult and having no easy outs, like the hidden back up grapes in the caravan.
But I suspect they did it for time purposes.
@@jenniferhanses7064 Some of it might be for time, but I also think Alex just likes having secret shortcuts because he enjoys the frustration of the contestants who completely miss them (and tbf so do I). When I watched the NZ version, I immediately thought "if Alex did this task there would totally be a hidden grape in the caravan."
@@bv310 I guess we can extend it to "kinder to Alex and the competitors".
Return of the grapescissors🤣 Frank would be very happy lol
Another task from NZ Taskmaster....love it!
lovely to see season 1's Frank grape scissor makes a return
"I'm opening chickpeas!"
Dara is too good at this. I also liked the Taskmaster tradition of telling birds to shut up.
6:34 just
Noticing the a previous seasons cast in puppet form in the cage 😂 complete with rhod Gilbert in his changed persona!
my first thought was "Alex fetch me a grape, quickly!"
this has to be one of my favorite tasks
I'm just sitting hear pondering if those were Frank Skinners grape scissors from back in series 1
The consensus is: yes, they are.
I think the task was slightly ruined by the fact that the women didn't "find" the hidden grape, it's the books hidden compartment that 'malfunctions' and reveals itself when they reach for the key. It's purely accidental. I wonder if they filmed them first and then fixed the book for the other contestants.
That does make sense, the ‘strike the bullseye’ task heavily implies Fern filmed her tasks first because she wasn’t given goggles and a shower cap like the others did
I kept waiting for someone to reach out the window and unlock the door from the outside
when she noticed the grape outside im disappointed she did not go through the hole saying it's not a window if there is no window.
They should have known grapes were in the caravan. The task required them to ‘eat a grape’ not to ‘escape the caravan’. The clue was there.
This is the task that has been teased to be borrowed from Taskmaster New Zealand. Anyone who hasn't seen it should absolutely make an effort to check it out. Season 1 is quite good, season 2 is absolutely fantastic.
Yooooo goodegor!
No time for taskmaster you've got NL vids to make haha.
I kinda expected the (Spoiler!) "hidden task" to be brought into the UK version, too.
I also demand to bring the two tubes and a chain task over with the addition "you can't move the tubs"
I don't think I'm out of line in saying TMNZ series 2 is possibly the best series of Taskmaster ever.
I like the crocheted cast of season 7 in the birdcage.
john being unable to spot the grapes was very much giving "it took david 19 minutes to spot the grape" from taskmaster nz'
Dara O'Briain, or should I say Darwin O'Briain, has done it again
It’s a es-grape room
The calibre for contestants on this show is really high, and yet John is easily in my top 3.
Taskmaster is like being a politician. Never accept the premise of the question. There is almost always a secret trick.
Dara needs to be on the next "built differently" compilation.
Frank Skinner's grape scissors!!! More season 1 throwbacks please!
I like how they had to put in not to damage the caravan, because if that wasn't there and it was me that door would not be on it's hinges anymore.
it will hard to replace the grape escape from TM NZ David Corres and Laura Daniels
Iam sooooo in love w Fern
I want a Taskmaster lunch box so badly
I expect somewhere down the line we're going to see contestants "Greet the ape" a la Taskmaster/Masktaster.
I'm surprised no one asked alex to bring them the grapes
Dara o'briain done it quick.
I just subscribed to the channel and only a couple seconds later, got this video's notification.
Felt kind of special.
Nobody sliced a page out of the grapes of wrath and ate it
And that's a shame
If existential dread were a person, it's name would be john. His suffering seems so real but it's also so consistent, that this can't be and must be some kind of act.
Greg almost slides into Chris Eubank voice at 5:32
Obsessed with Fern's outfit 💞
