In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Fun Fact: after Jessica fell off that stage extension/catwalk thing. they actually named it "The Knappett" in her honour and you can see it has that name on a sign at the end of the catwalk in all tasks using the catwalk in future series. it's amazing that the moment was so iconic it influenced the production team to have a reference to it for all series up to this day!
It's like in top gear when the final turn got named Gambon; after Sir Michael Gambon got his car up on two wheels during his lap

I'm missing the iconic two-line drawing task. "Only elephants and hippos have that kind of tail!" The other team pissing themselves from laughing sure counts as chaos to me

first time I watched that we had to pause the tv because I was crying with laughter. I think I slid off the couch too so I was convulsing on the floor (much to the concern of my cat)

Something I didn't realise until Ed pointed out on the Podcast yesterday. James puts his arms out to try and catch Jess when she falls off 😂😂
It is still one of the sweetest and most genuine things I have seen him do.
He is **instinctively** helpful.
I love that Greg and Alex both ran to her when she fell off the stage. One of them even whispered “shit.”
Well, there's the human decency part of it - she's probably their friend, but there's also the legal/health and safety part of it too - they're both executive producers of the show and it could be a worker's comp thing.

According to people who were at the taping on the day, they stopped the whole thing for a really long time to make sure she was actually okay - got her medically checked out and ensured she was fine before moving on. The taping of the second show was severely delayed because of it. It’s edited well to cover it.
Season 7's lineup was the first to feature all three chaotic alignments with Jess (CG), James (CN), and Rhod (CE).
Season 7 was pure gold! When Jess was on the podcast she said that she would do Taskmaster again in a heartbeat even without cameras or being paid 😄 I‘m still waiting for a full episode of cul-de-sac.
I'd love to know if anyone didn't enjoy doing the show. It's just pure fun
@@andrewbowden6982 Sadly Doc Brown has said he didn’t enjoy his time on the show, I think it was because he didn’t like being humiliated or something. Romesh also said he regretted the way he acted, and Phil Wang has criticised Greg for underscoring him, although with him you can never tell if he’s being serious or not.
@@iliketrains3495 Underscoring is definitely just a joke between friends I feel. Shame about Doc and Romesh, they provided some great moments

I love how Ed looks at Greg so exasperated, like he's lodging a complaint. And Greg giggles like "your sufferance has been engineered for my amusement....." 🤣🤣🤣

There’s a moment on Hogan’s Heroes when Col Hogan is told to stop his men from rioting and he just stands there saying“Fellows, settle down please!” It’s like the converse of that scene.

@@mickeymickey9914 The CW network tried to show series 8 of the UK version back in 2020 but cancelled it after the first episode got bad ratings. I don't think most Americans get British comedy.

Falling 3' onto carpet would not bruise ribs.
@Erica Smith That really depends on how you land. You can fall 0" and end up with brused ribs if you are particularly unlucky. I knew someone who broke their leg by stepping off a curb.
I Once fell "from her own height", as written on medical report.. gracefully managed to break my elbow! 🤘 🥴
Jess unfortunately passed away upon impact, but heroically came back to life to complete the task

After the first season, I think the one with James Acaster is my favourite. I absolutely love Rhod and Phil just holding each other from 12:17 onwards
One of the things I love about Greg Davies as taskmaster is he genuinely seems like he’s there to have a great time and to make sure everyone else has a great time.
And now they call that part of the stage the "Knappett" :D
Honestly the best bit of the entire video is the single clap for Frank's third place at 20:22

Side note: Jess falling off the stage, David and Ed as a team and Greg being dragged around by the S7 cast will never not be funny (along with Greg's reactions to both those events, Greg genuinely asking if Jess was ok after she hit the drum is dear to my heart.)

I love how in the UK there’s a pool of comedians to attend all these quiz/game shows. So different than US. I prefer UK stuff like this.
That talent pool does also exist in the States, we just don't have as many comedians that are effectively universally known nation-wide since the country is so much bigger. (As an American watching this show, it honestly doesn't matter to me that I've known... 3? 4? of these comedians over 14 seasons (still catching up after finding it when I was at home after surgery), it's still absolutely incredible to watch 😂
I really enjoyed seeing the resolution and point awarded for the tasks.

I've watched the whole Acaster series. I don't ever recall Alex with those hoops.
Seems like they could've all avoided that mess if Rhod had just placed his doughnut on Greg's head. Would've been high enough to win.
Or if the audience had just thrown Rhod’s donut on the floor and pointed and laughed at him. Alex should also have tipped him off the stage during the wheelbarrow walk.
He'd probably have just smacked it off like he swiped the castor out of Alex's hand and disqualified him instantly just to fuck with him...which honestly would still have been funny.

They're in the middle of uploading Season 10. Their streaming service "Supermax+" is ahead by a couple of episodes plus uploading other international seasons. Supermax+ shows they have plans to upload 11 & 12.
