Has anyone managed to upgrade there 9.9 to 15? Looking at the carb, it looks like the 9.9 and 15 are the same carbs? At least when you are looking online for parts. If it’s not the Carb that is the Differenz what needs to be changed then? Any help would be great.
Hi. I know this is an old topic, but do you remember exactly what parts you replaced to increase the power? I have a 9.9 engine and I was interested in the topic of increasing power.
My understanding is that you can upgrade to 15 hp performance via the carb. The ECM computer will activate limp mode when you increase the revs to access the extra power. Subsequently, the computer will restrict the outboard to 10 hp performance and if exceed the revs limits beyond 9.9 hp you access limp mode and the net result is you go slower. The only way round it is to buy the expensive 15 hp ECM along with the 15 hp carby. Good luck everyone.
thanks for the vid where did you get the spares from? do you know what is needed for the conversion? does the HP change also work for the 2 stroke versions? thnx
Mulling over wether to buy a parsun 15 hp. Big price gap to the more established brands. Whats you opnion as far as build quality and reliability goes ?
Hi Peter, same reply. Sorry for being late in doing so, Shortly after this I sold it but knew the fella so he said still goes well. Quality is fine. Block etc is US made etc. Yamaha parts fit them just not the big prices as the top banding brands. I needed a short shaft so that's the only reason I sold it. This one was also used by a commercial tour operator in the Abel Tasman National Park here in New Zealand as a back up boat. They ran it for about two years before I brought it. Couple minor repairs but said because of staff in the industry. They tend to use these because he said any engine will get damage or fail but these are cheaper to fix. He's use all top brands but now uses these. Good in my book. Hope this helps.
Hi.. i have the parsun f15 4 stroke.. i am interested to change the carpuretor for more power.. can i use the stock carburetor from the 20hp parsun.. or another model? Please help if you can.. thanks..
Doros Polidorou hi there I am no expert on outboard motors at all I think it's the only 9.9 to 15 horsepower I don't think you can go from 15 horsepower to 20 horsepower as a different engine all together. Justin 9.9 & 15 are basically the same except for the carburettor your model is a completely different engine. Hope this helps

Still cant buy the Parson's here in California....no CARB approval. Too bad looks like a lower cost alternative to Evinrude and Merc. We have a Tohatsu on our tinny.
What materials was needed to convert 9.9hp to 15hp? What carburetor code?
Hey, how about Parsun 8 -》9.8 ? Anybody knows?

Shame. They are a good copy of a Yamaha. Same part numbers and everything..
Good job !
