    Thank You! Most helpful! Clear, concise and to the point. The primary reason I, personally, would only buy a 15 hp Yamaha replacement carb for the 9.9 hp engine, would be that IF I ever had to take the outboard motor into a Yamaha service center, they may refuse to work on it due to not having Yamaha parts......☹

    I heard that's the only difference is the bore size and some jetting. I would keep the 9.9 carb and bore it out and jet it accordingly as to what the spark plugs show. Great video.

    I looked at the engines and the f15 seens to have larger cylinders or cc if i understand right, there is also quite bit of weight difrence. But from a cc to horse power calculator we should be able to get more out of the 9.9 :)

      I'm not really experienced with outboards, just a lifelong engine guy. It appears the early 9.9s were 323cc, the later ones were 212 and the 15s were bigger. I have the earlier 323cc version, which was the same as the 15s. Hell, whatever it is, the little bugger woke up big time! lol

    That made a lot of sense now that you explained it. I have a Mercury 9.9 and I imagine it's roughly the same idea. Is there a reason for adjusting the float height? Isn't there just one good setting?

    • @captain_315
      @captain_315  Год назад +1

      Im not very experienced with outboards at all, but yes it appears the Mercs are pretty much the same thing. Shouldnt be any reason to change float height unless the tab on the float got bent or banged around. Im sure theres a spec and wouldnt hurt to check it.

    1. Is there any other part that needs to be changed along with the Carb?
    2. Does the carb swap stress out any other F9.9 4 Stroke component?
    3. How's the long term performance after the swap, speed, mileage?

    • @captain_315
      @captain_315  29 дней назад

      On this particular motor (2007, 323cc) the carb was a direct bolt on with no other changes needed. They are the same exact engine so no additional stress it cant handle. As for long term I ran it for 2 years with absolutely zero issues before selling it and the new owner runs it every weekend with zero problems. Gas mileage was slightly less if I was hammering on it, but these little buggers are so good on fuel anyhow it didnt matter much. You wont regret it!

    What is the diameter of the hole on the intake manifold? Does it match the 9.9 or 15hp throat size? If it is smaller to match the 9.9 carb will there be any conflict with the butterfly flap on the 15 hp carb and if it is smaller than the 15 hp will that impact any gain in hp?
