@@tarmo4435 this is a fair question! They do actually have spare parts for this motor (I was surprised as well). Lots of people without mechanical knowledge may not want to take the risk of buying second hand and may not be comfortable working on motors themselves. I agree for people like you and I, I would always rather buy an older motor of higher quality and work on it myself however some people just aren’t comfortable with that I’d say. I had this motor before it work good for the first time but after it prove that it a piece of junk.It was impossible to start the pull cord keep breaking overall it will fail you at the worst time
I dont understand why people are so in to that cheap stuff. If the price is like that some corners had to be cut. We still use old 4-stroke Honda motor that my dad purchased at early 90s. With little maintenance its still reliable motor and it is possible to get spare parts if needed. I would assume that the cheap motors are designed to be replaced not repaired when problema occur, but i am not sure
@@tarmo4435 this is a fair question! They do actually have spare parts for this motor (I was surprised as well). Lots of people without mechanical knowledge may not want to take the risk of buying second hand and may not be comfortable working on motors themselves. It’s more comforting to some folks to buy something factory new, even if it is subpar quality. I agree for people like you and I, I would always rather buy an older motor of higher quality and work on it myself however some people just aren’t comfortable with that I’d say. And unfortunately now a days taking a motor to the shop for even the most basic things will cost you the entire purchase price of this brand new motor. So at $180, I could see it being an attractive offer for someone who just wants a little something for the occasional kayak or canoe trip, or as an emergency kicker. Plus you don’t have to deal with finding a good quality used motor, dealing with dishonest sellers, and having that fear of something breaking. I’m with you- but those are my thoughts on why some may like it!
I bought the one i have for giggles. Have not used it in a few years. Fwiw the older Hondas are getting hard to get parts for. My dad has about a 1995 Honda 5hp he bought second owner when it was still newer. Still kicks around whatever boat hes running. But its getting tired and some stuff it needs is NLA
i cant afford honda. my bike has a lifan engine. hangkai is something actually obtainable.😂🍻
CJ brown reservoir?
I miss my old Wards 7.5hp two stroke.
Air cooled Tecumseh. Never let me down.
@@fromthebackofmymind the old wards kicked butt!
Any engine is better than oars. Fast or not.
Maybe next time you should read the manual so you'd know better than to not please clean lub of having high quality usege export oil.
@@ka24det yeah that’s my bad 🤣
I have a few regular customers who have the 6hp and it’s the same parts as a Mercury literally
I remember many hours spent with my uncle motoring up the Yangtze river using this motor.
Perfect for my 18 foot sailboat to get in/out of the harbor.
Get two of them and a tiny tunnel hull boat !!! speed test time lol . nice video please tell me the drone is a Potensic atom .
DJI Mini 3 Pro!
beautiful lake! where at?
Thank you. This just came across my inbox. Loved the review and that boat.
It has a centrifugal clutch... Like many go-carts use...
Not a thing wrong with that little engine it really gets me how people think you got to spend a fortune to go out and have fun. I'm a tried and tru mercury man but if they had these back when I were younger I would have bought me one I bought a little 2.2 and believe me I could have bought four for what I paid for that little mercury.
@@rickarndt3895 glad somebody gets it… we’re all just trying to get out on the water. Who cares how you get there!
Funny thing, I actually buy and fix up little outboards too. Love the videos
Thank you man!
I had mine for two summers. The second summer the water jacket on the engine started to leak. I tried high temp JB weld to no avail. Now all I have is a 200 dollar pile of Sh-T in my shop.
I bought one and it sprayed water from the cooling jacket from first startup. I tried to send it back through eBay and was told .... don't send it back we will give you a full refund......
A free motor ?????
Tried everything to no avail. Only possibility I thought of was to wrap a coil of copper pipe around the cylinder and run the water through it.
Gave it to friend
His headache now
I got the hangkai 3.5 (same shit) and mines still going strong after a few months in the ocean. Super reliable and efficient on my kayak
Also that gear oil is robbing you atleast a horse, that was big boy outboard gearcase stuff, put some ams marine gearoil or like a full syn atv diff fluid i promise you will notice a huge difference! 10mph or bust!
You do have to take the prop unscrew that hub and put gear oil in them
clutch probs on a bell or something . for neutral
It was nice of them to suggest that you not waste money on the expensive high quality oil.
When that boosie clip came on 😂
It’s a centrifugal clutch. Not a new concept.
@@Wesmancan it is for someone who has never worked on an engine that has one. Thanks for watching!
Some air cooled four cycles are just a skin over that $180 and they start so much easier. Two cycle is kind of loud and the idle sucks. A mistake. Air cooled four cycle is worth it. Trivia: The exhaust is water cooled but the motor is air cooled.
I'm actually pretty impressed.... will be interesting to see if lasts more than 1 or 2 seasons without any problems
