Man as someone who is restoring a boat my dad gave me . This is both interesting yet heart wrenching to see . My boat sat for 6 years. Took me 2 to get it back on the water. It's a 1996 sea arrow 20 ft center console inboard. It's an awesome boat. Sad to see so many cool boats rotting away.

The same way I'm fascinated with New York City's Plumbing I'd be fascinated in the way that you could get parts out of that place that weigh 500 pounds
Most of these boats are close to 40 years old, had decades of use and probably several owners. Don’t assume they are all hurricane damage tragedies, these boats met their fate in many different ways. Look for depressing thoughts, you’ll find them
That's a true one it's almost sad too see them just waiting for one last run on the water . I once seen a 16 ft boat next to the dump down in South Florida and I seen it there for about 4 or 5 years and I used to tell myself damn that's a nice Hall tell one day I went and picked it up got papers for it and now she's in the water all the time with me and my kids .
Used to go to Michigan a lot and they have tons of them up there I could tell you exactly where at this time but I love going to them I've redone three old Chris crafts and it's hard to find parts sometimes and sometimes it was before the internet that I was looking for different things loved the video great.
I never bought a brand new boat. But obviously many have. Going through a place like this makes me wonder what changes their owners went through. Most of these were probably sold 3,4, maybe 6 or 7 times. But each new owner.....a big change and a big part of their life. Ends up here. Makes me wonder where my 1985 20' Sea Ox which my wife and I bought in '87, and spent 2 magical summers with is now. We sold her when we began to have children. Now 37 years later, Im looking to buy a boat again.
How about a sailboat salvage yard? There are lots of sailers that DIY their own repairs, so sources for materials would be very helpful. Thanks for the video and for your engine maintenance tips too.
Not a single center console boat in the pile. That says people are willing to invest in restoring a CC boat way before any other style. Thats why I cant find one in decent shape at a decent price. I live 30 minutes from this boat yard too. You saved me a trip.
I found it very interesting. Maybe add information about boats you look at that are interesting, rare, or explain different pros and cons of what different types of boats are good for?
Would you know what that big Chrysler 4 cylinder outboard with the factory blue hood was? It said "Deluxe" on the hood. Chrysler did have a racing 150hp with open headers and racing foot...Same blue top. I am guessing it is the same powerhead w/special pistons and no headers... 🤔 The standard 4 cylinder was max 120hp. Cheers 🍻
The world is turning into giant mounds of plastic and metal parts slowly being reclaimed by the earth. IMO, the future is not storing, sorting and tagging, but using a plasma machine break "trash" down into raw materials and 3d printers to print just what you need when and where you need it. Every one of those boats had at least one owner with hard earned cash and big dreams and one who left it out by the side of the road.
I'm sure there are wasps galore in the summer. Majority of those boats are plywood core. Didn't see many OMC sterndrives or much sterndrive parts there only saw 3 electric lower gear cases in the video. That area is big on outboards.
It just so happens I’m buying a project boat in a day or two. A man has to have a hobby after all. This was perfect timing. I’d love to visit this place. Hopefully I can find one of these places in central Fla where I’m from.

I almost got a "Land n Sea houseboat", but didn't. ;-) You should check them out (early 70s, tri-hull), I believe they were also known as SeaCabins, but look them up as "Land n Sea houseboat". I may have seen one, but you turned and edited away from it, so we'll never know? I have a feeling, looking how the boats are thrown around, they charge an arm and leg to pull one out?
Every buyer dreaming to acquire a boat should watch this. Buying a boat is like getting married; happy when you get one, happiest when you get ride of one.
Insurance claim might be the way to go. Either sink it, set it on fire or put it inside something else you plan on setting on fire. Other options is to cut it up and say it was stolen, let it come off the hitch on the highway or put it in the back yard and rent it out to a Millennial as a room.
I could spend some time in there looking at all the doable projects that I could handle. I would like to find an old Randal or Bomber style stick steer boat. Nothing too big. My dad taught me how to fish out of his back in the 70s, lots of great memories. I wonder how many of these boats were in a storm or flood.

It may just be the location of this boneyard, but the majority of the boats look like what I call "family boats", aka bowriders, ski, and jet boats. Is that because those are most popular, or is it because those customers tend to loose interest in and neglect their boats more? Maybe a little of both.
Bought my first boat a few months ago. I cannot believe how many low hour boats you go look at that were just left outside to rot. Spend all that money for a new boat and just leave it outside for 20 years to be a pond
Too costly to hire the people, they probably take the boats for free and strip and cut up enough hulls for burning at the resource recovery (garbage burning) plant. Fiberglass and wood burns real good. Plenty of both in these old boats. Keeps them going with revenue, by the pound. And whatever they sell in parts. In the beginning of the video you get a glimpse at the nested hulls - looks like they are ready to haul off. This is my opinion - I’m not in the business.
I saw what looked like a skeeter hawk in there it made my heart jump. I bought a brand new skeeter back in the day. Brings back ole memories. Thumbs Up!
To think every one of those vessels has a story behind it. Someone's dreams, ambitions, plans....to see them here is very easy to imagine all of those people's dreams ended up like this, whatever the circumstance and reasons.

Most if not all are fiberglass. It rots over time and can't be repaired. Once it ages out fresh fiberglass patches will not stick to it. Also many of those boat's have plywood sheet with fiberglass applied all around it to strengthen the hull. Eventually that plywood loses it's strength and the fiberglass crack's allowing water to soak into the wood and rot it. That's the reason all those boat's ended up where they are.

I would imagine that there would be a LOT of very buildable outboards, like the XR6 150hp Merc outboard! They're Def worth buying and rebuilding if needed..
*Personally I would be looking for any Hydrostream boats or other similar go-fast hi-performance type hulls to rebuild!
How about Some electric boat conversions... gimme a hull 👍
@@devonvankraft we have a Duffy electric toon there
there is a 1960s little boat that brakes my heart that its not being restored for an older couple to scoot around in in the yard i see every day
@@devonvankraft no thanks.
Amazing! I see many of these boats and wonder what was wrong with them to end up there. Some of them looked to be in great shape.
This is awesome. Just subbed.
I hope my Carolina Skiff never ends up in a boat graveyard😀
As a fisherman it warms my heart to see all those dead jet skis
we have a high demand for skiffs
C'mon man, people with jet skis should be able... just kidding BURN THEM ALL
How do these places run ? A lot of these boats won't sell after they're stripped... and one day you're gonna have to despose of those, witch is not cheap right ?? Very cool place though !!
I could never go into a place like this, because I am a " PACK RAT" my nature. If I think I can save it. Its coming home :)
I'm the same
Lol same here! I've spent more money on trying to fix old boats vs buying a nicer one!
@@curtis3653 We have issues! lol
@@leandrewwilliams554 absolutely! And I'm ok with it, it's my wife that isn't!! Haha!

Never knew such places were out there. Really enjoyed the video. I would love to know what kind of prices they have on engines and parts. I wouldn't mind rebuilding one of those pontoons either!
The same way I'm fascinated with New York City's Plumbing I'd be fascinated in the way that you could get parts out of that place that weigh 500 pounds
Many awesome Bass boats. Many look like they could take to the water with a little work
Just imagine all those boats once had a person who dreamed of buying it new. All those broken dreams. #DepressingThoughts
I was thinking the same thing, all those boats were someone’s dream boat, shiny and new. Imagine most are storm damaged insurance claims
For some it was school tho
Most of these boats are close to 40 years old, had decades of use and probably several owners. Don’t assume they are all hurricane damage tragedies, these boats met their fate in many different ways. Look for depressing thoughts, you’ll find them
Hurricane victims.
Looks like I may have to take a trip to Georgia! I saw a few nice sailboats and I think that I saw a Chriscraft Commander... ON A TRAILER!
let me know what you want and i will make it good and hold it for you to see
I never bought a brand new boat.
I would have loved more commentary about the boats you were looking at.
and did you get one?
How about a sailboat salvage yard? There are lots of sailers that DIY their own repairs, so sources for materials would be very helpful. Thanks for the video and for your engine maintenance tips too.
Not a single center console boat in the pile. That says people are willing to invest in restoring a CC boat way before any other style. Thats why I cant find one in decent shape at a decent price. I live 30 minutes from this boat yard too. You saved me a trip.
Buy a junk boat and make it into a cc, to me they are the best fishing platform 👍🙂
OMG those old Johnsons look so freaking beautiful like a classic car I need one!!!!😍😍😍
I found it very interesting. Maybe add information about boats you look at that are interesting, rare, or explain different pros and cons of what different types of boats are good for?
I would love to have a chance to go through that place. Do more visits of places like this!!
Thats funny i work there / i have been sub to you before i worked there / i heard someone was filming that day sorry i missed you
Would you know what that big Chrysler 4 cylinder outboard with the factory blue hood was? It said "Deluxe" on the hood. Chrysler did have a racing 150hp with open headers and racing foot...Same blue top. I am guessing it is the same powerhead w/special pistons and no headers... 🤔 The standard 4 cylinder was max 120hp.
Cheers 🍻
Fantastic... But I wonder how did all those boats get there and why did the people just get rid of them
it's a shame those places aren't sorted and tagged. there's a gold mine there if one can see it.
need a job we need the help there
The world is turning into giant mounds of plastic and metal parts slowly being reclaimed by the earth. IMO, the future is not storing, sorting and tagging, but using a plasma machine break "trash" down into raw materials and 3d printers to print just what you need when and where you need it. Every one of those boats had at least one owner with hard earned cash and big dreams and one who left it out by the side of the road.
Cool I never knew about this place. I just put my boat in at Lake Lanier this past weekend for the first time at Charleston Park. Awesome
I bought a boat from this place several years ago. They also have a website you could spend hours on
If there is a boat that I can buy will they move a lot of boats out the way to get to the boat I want to see???
It’s Lanier marine liquidators
I'm sure there are wasps galore in the summer. Majority of those boats are plywood core. Didn't see many OMC sterndrives or much sterndrive parts there only saw 3 electric lower gear cases in the video. That area is big on outboards.
This boat yard defines mental surprise in resilience to mans obsession with personal gratification while in short lived monthly payments
Would be good if you could mention what some of these boats sell for, or are some of them free? Very cool!
It just so happens I’m buying a project boat in a day or two. A man has to have a hobby after all. This was perfect timing. I’d love to visit this place. Hopefully I can find one of these places in central Fla where I’m from.
what are you looking for im the yard manager
@@ErnestLingerfelt I have a 1983 Bayliner Contessa 2850 (I believe I haven’t got the title yet). I plan on visiting your place up there maybe in the fall. Can’t wait!
@@terryjackybishop8995 send pics and visual measurements to ernie30528@ yahoo.com with phone # so i can ask the team to look for parts
I got to about nine minutes worth. The amount of waste is overwhelming to say the least. How could this place ever be cleaned up if it needed to? It's almost a Eco-disaster in the making. At least now I think I know where to find a short shaft lower unit for the Merc "6" tower-of-power I need.
On the other hand, recycling parts to give them a 2nd life is very eco friendly.
The little sailboat with the cover on it is nice
its still there and nice under the cover come see it
See if you can find a pair of those jet boats. Maybe two can make one? Or did they have a common failure point?
OMG Most of those salvageable boats would still be on the water here in the UK. The price of second hand / project boats has rocketed in the last 2 years!
Yep in Australia too all thanx to Covid 19 go figure 🤔
.. equally here in NZ.

When he opened the engine hatch on a jet boat, and the best I could say is "Well, it hasn't been on fire!"
What a dump! Looking at the map I was wondering if it was hit by Hurricane Helena. Looks like the work was already done. How easy is it to note YAMAHA, 60 hp on a carburetor and sort them by brand and hp??? How would I possibly find the piece I am looking for. What a mess.
Instead of calling it a Marine Junkyard. Maybe re-dub it as a Nautical Parts Library
I almost got a "Land n Sea houseboat", but didn't. ;-)
You should check them out (early 70s, tri-hull), I believe they were also known as SeaCabins, but look them up as "Land n Sea houseboat".
Did you mean “rid” of one?
Insurance claim might be the way to go. Either sink it, set it on fire or put it inside something else you plan on setting on fire. Other options is to cut it up and say it was stolen, let it come off the hitch on the highway or put it in the back yard and rent it out to a Millennial as a room.
@@Paiadakine Maybe ride one and then rid it. JS.
I could spend some time in there looking at all the doable projects that I could handle. I would like to find an old Randal or Bomber style stick steer boat. Nothing too big. My dad taught me how to fish out of his back in the 70s, lots of great memories. I wonder how many of these boats were in a storm or flood.
This is a gold mine for those who know what their looking at and how to get it back into shape.

It may just be the location of this boneyard, but the majority of the boats look like what I call "family boats", aka bowriders, ski, and jet boats. Is that because those are most popular, or is it because those customers tend to loose interest in and neglect their boats more? Maybe a little of both.
I used to buy from them all the time! I drove from Douglasville Georgia all the way to Lanier!!!! It was always worth it!!!!
hey men i wish i could have one of those boats i just love them all i love boats how could i get one please let me know my friend
WOW This is way cool 😎 thanks for sharing!!! When I get up there I hope they have a big Yacht

Not in todays disposable society.
they are waiting for new owners to do pride and joy and keep them alive / i work here and its like the land of misfit toys
Bought my first boat a few months ago. I cannot believe how many low hour boats you go look at that were just left outside to rot. Spend all that money for a new boat and just leave it outside for 20 years to be a pond
@@gearjammergamer8560 Same deal with most of those luxury boats you see moored, low hours and just rotting away.
That place is awesome. I got a little tease of a lot of boats I liked in your search for I’m not sure what.
A couple hundred hours of organizing and that place would be as valuable as the lost Dutchmans mine!
More like a couple of hundred "days"!

To think every one of those vessels has a story behind it. Someone's dreams, ambitions, plans....to see them here is very easy to imagine all of those people's dreams ended up like this, whatever the circumstance and reasons.
True dreams gone most likely from storms.......

Absolutely Heart Breaking! I've Been to Hundreds of Auto Salvage Yards, But I've Never Even Heard of One Boat Savage Yard, Here In South Africa, Mate. Boats are Just To Valuable, here, to Scrap Them! Awesome Video, Though!
I loved watching the video I'd like going to junk yards since I was a kid,
