    Small tip to prevent water getting in the wooden floor at the hole for the rigging. Just drill a bigger hole then needed then fill it up with thickend epoxy and then drill the hole in the epoxy so the water can't seep in to the wood.

    I’ve restored my own glass boat; a 1981 Rover Ox. It was extremely rewarding, but an incredible amount of work. Your vid contained in 15 min what took me 1.5 years to complete.

    A festool sander and vacum would be a perfect tool to add to your shop if you don’t have it already. Festool sanders and the vacuums collect about 95% of the sanding dust. They are expensive but well worth the money.

    Always check for trailer damage. Excess overhang can belly the bottom near the transom. That acts like a big trim tab in the down position. You can't press it back out. The only way to fix it is to flip the boat and professionally re-glass the hull. The boat will nose dive and bow steer. Pick another hull to work with. There are plenty out there to choose from. Fiberglass stringer are a must for me.

  • @asya9493
    @asya9493 2 года назад +1

    How about cutting out the entire deck, drilling the stringers to check for rot, probably replacing them too, then building a new deck ? 06:50 rotten wood on the deck is a bad sign for whats under the deck.
    Leaving the hull/stringers uninspected is a mistake in my view.
    Also what was the transom wood's condition ?

    How much fiberglass resin was used on the repair?

  • @kylewalker7072
    @kylewalker7072 3 года назад +1

    you could have saved a bunch of work by using laminating resin. No need to sand between. Also, thinning resin with a little styrene will help the chop strand lay and conform. Also, you don't apply resin with the rolling tool. It is for running air out.... which you had a ton of. The camera shows it well

    You should have used 1708, and glassed from the floor up the console. Its flexing side to side causing the cracks, not coming up from the floor. 6 inch wide roll of 1708, 3 inches on the floor and 3 on the console all the way around would prevent it.
