The opening shot of all the boats. At one time, somebody brought these home, shiny and new for the first time, beaming with excitement and pride.
The amount of trailers is also amazing. Didn’t see any pontoon boats or aluminum boats like bass trackers. The sad thing is someone loved these boats when they were young.
The legend is back 🤟
You had a good time on that piranha! Loved the wrap!
When will you be making more videos
@@alexr1834 I was just wondering when you were I watched the last cleaning and running of the little boat you did, Thats all we can do in the frozen Midwest.
I have learned more from Born again and your videos than any other resources for repairs and maintenance. Thank you, cant wait to see more content!
Glad you are back. Videos were missed.
We have an auto recycling business near where I live and it used to look like this boat yard. Just an big unorganized mess. Then they started organizing things. Now, many years later they have almost eliminated all the cars on the land. They did this by building a mechanics area with lifts and bays just like a car dealership has. They haul the cars in, strip the parts, check the parts for function and label and store any usable parts in a warehouse. The rest of the car is sold for scrap.
That's what this guy needs to do. Strip the boats of usable parts and warehouse them, then shred the unusable hulls. The trailers could all be sold as is or refurbished and sold.
When that mess catches fire you'll be able to see the smoke in Florida.
For people who are wondering, small boats, especially in the under 25’ range are a dime a dozen in SE Michigan where this place is. Autoworkers in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s could easily afford to take out loans and buy these types of boats. The problem comes up with trying to maintain and store a boat up north - lots of wrecked engines and since fiberglass has no value like the metal in a scrap car, the cheapest thing to do sometimes is just abandon them anywhere you can when people realize the true expense of boating. It’s sad this place is so disorganized - lots of windshields and hatches need replacing every spring from the weight of snow on storage covers, most of those trailers are aluminum and could be rehabbed - but this place is such a mess it’s not worth the effort when you can find junked boats all over in Michigan.
imagine all the good times and memories had in these boats
Welcome back, and welcome to Michigan, My 31 year old Sea Ray Cuddy (used on the Great Lakes) still looks like new, some of these boats are around the same age range, 80s to early 90s.
Heck yeah! I hope this means you’re back! Hopefully I’ll be seeing some Technicians Tuesdays on some Florida boats soon!!
Glad to have you back missed all the great content you brought to us on boating tips.
Glad to see your back at it! Was wondering what happened over the last couple months!
I once bought a 79 searay with a 4 foot tree growing out of it. I called it a Tree ray.
So many of these were I/O engine setups with now rotten floors, stringers and transoms. Many times when these engines or out drives went bad it wasn’t worth fixing them up.
Missing you and your weekly videos from Siesta Key! Happy 2022 and hope you are inspired to keep your channel rocking this year. 158k subscribers; there’s 2 NFL stadiums full of us waiting for next Tuesday! Would love to see a Rhodan install video this year. I have one and I love it but I think I can improve the implementation. Be cool
Wow Bayliners everywhere - love those Tri-hauls there awesome stable lake boats - Thanks for check that place out !!!
I live about 30 minutes from there I've been there a couple times it's really cool you came and checked it out!
I was worried about your whereabouts for a minute, glad to see you’re back.
The red one with "Full Power Tilt" @33:50 would be so sweet restored but the vegetation growing out of the middle makes me think there's a few soft spots.
The boat graveyard iin Green Cove Springs, Florida is almost all sailboats. I here the property is for sale. There might be a lot of boats going very cheap!
Finally you’ve returned to the lands of RUclips! Welcome back and happy new year!
Extremely glad you're back. C'mon! I've been checking for months!
Do you know how much money there is on those windshields only. For people repairing boats those are a gem. I was quote 800 for a corner Sea ray 2005.
Funny, been watching your enjoyable videos for a few years. First time did jump around in this video, not catching the location. Thought to myself I've seen a lot of these boat types in my 50 years of boating on Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie (Michigan), then realized this place not to many miles from me.
I don't understand why they do not recycle all those rotten boats. Many of them sure arrived there in pretty good condition. What a shame they were not fixed in time, before they turned to wrecks. There are a lot of beautiful abandoned boats there.
By the way a totally agree with some comments about the technician Tuesdays videos. I was always waiting for them, every week!
Cheers from France.
Glad your back and wow at the amount of throw our boats.
I certainly admire the dedication to your craft....MAN, was it RAINING!!! If it continued to rain so heavy, you may have been in the right place....you could have FLOATED out of there!!! Great tour of a lot of good old boats! By the way...Mariah Boats?... one of the best lake boats ever made. They were actually built one at a time! Who ever would have thought I'd be giving YOU information!! It's usually the other way around! LOL! CHEERS!
Great video and love the boat graveyards!
Glad you are back !!
It’s awesome to have you back your videos
The" I don't know what that is" A Hurricane Deck Boat. Popular down south back in the day. They have a very low freeboard compared to most but have probably been in the inboard deck boat game longer than anyone.
Love seeing the boat grave yards. 🏍💨🏍💨
Loved that old red boat. That thing needs pulled out of there and a nice 250 outboard incorporated on it.
Good to see you back, was actually wondering what happened to your weekly videos just a couple days ago. You didn’t leave South Florida ??
🤣 i couldn’t stop laughing when u said “ oh no, shoot, somebody left their meter” 100 years ago.🤙🏼
Glad you are back!
awesome! ya did another boat grave yard vid..love m..keep m coming ..can not believe how many good trailers there are in here too..but didn't really see any big cabin cruisers ..guess the guy just deals with smaller stuff..all the same great vid! but you must of got socked 😂
Love the content! Maybe you could hilight some “high end” boats and explain what makes them desirable. Thanks!
Merry Christmas and happy new year Aaron and family !!
I'm loving yellow on these boats. That one purple boat caught me off guard...kinda liked it too. I'm lucky I don't live close to one of these salvage yards...
Mate, from a guy from Australia, so many dream boats in their day, would be millions in costs. Wonder what brought each boat to its death, except the fire ones, would it of been high fuel costs for large inboards? Or mechanical costs to repair? Such a shame to see so many boats degrading, here in Australia, most of those boats would still be a going concern. Anyway mate, this video opened my eyes. Cheers.
Damn. What a mess lol. Only seen 2 boats worth salvaging. The cool retro red one & the aluminum StarCraft that was at the beginning of the video. The rest will just rot away. Sad how people can’t take care of their toys
Any clue what model the red one was?
A battery switch, trolling motor, steering wheel and fenders...maybe trailer parts, other than that, a lot of very expensive planters that used to be boats. What a mess.
So what did you end up going home with? At the very least I would've grabbed some compasses, trolling motors, horns, and maybe a fire extinguisher. Definitely some of those good condition fuel tanks.
Cool vid. Didn't know this place exsisted.
I wonder how many of these boats could be saved? I need to see if there are any kind of these places in Ontario, and Check them out in the summer.
Up in Greenland, many are converting old small inboard boats, to outboard boats, by modifying the transum.
nice to see you’re back
I would love to see you pull one of these home and do a restoration!
Awesome happy to see you back, which one you picked? Project on the way?
Haven’t heard from you in a long time thought you quit posting glad you’re back Wish your closed caption was in English and not Spanish though
Welcome back dude!
Fiberglass deck boat is what that is .like a pontoon but fiberglass they use to be pretty nice boats roomie
I did not see a Glastron. Love the 70's😊
I just got a project welcraft 19 fish thank to you for the informative videos
Glad your back videos are definitely missed
ThatBoatGuy would love that place 😂😂😂😂
Thank you, my brother, for this distinguished work. Thank you very much and more than that thank yooooouuuu❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are very welcome bro!
Funny to see you want to look at that scorpion but not the early 1970 baby blue chris craft lancer next to it. Those are something people will buy in certain parts of the country. Classic glass is way nicer than anything built today.
I think just about every boater has owned/operated a Bayliner at one time. I am willing to admit I had a 17foot Capri with an force 85hp in the past.
Mosquitoe heaven, I'm glad you are back on.
That's a really good find, in the jungle lol . But I got to admit the sail boat broke my heart.
that's disgusting! expensive plant pots - walk away. the amount of hull rot happening in that yard undetected would be off the charts
Many of those glass boats are fairly easy to bring back to life
love that place! cool people
90% of those boats are in there due to improper winterization guaranteed. Every spring there's a ton of boats for sale with cracked blocks here in Michigan. Some really nice ones with ruined engines. Just most of the time its too much cost and hassle to replace the engine. You can buy another used boat by the time you are done.
Was starting to form a search party to go looking for you!
I was wondering if any of those boat worth the time and money to bring them back to life?
Very happy to have you back
When I was young and still a student living with my parents ( the Netherlands) I bought my first boat. great running outboard. new under it's hood but the tale section had grown a long beard from sitting in sweet water. also
the interior was partly waste since the cover had not been covering well and cought al lot of water making it almost sink. It was just a little 4,2mtr back to back four seater with a 40 hp yamaha. stripped it down completely and reupholstered and replaced all backing wood. added carpet and new meters. few years later bought a new 40 hp 3cyl with trim and made myself a mini campercanvas. Windshield broke in 30 pieces one day so made a new one myself too. looked pretty good when I was done. It was like new and had it for 17 years. But it was worth it because I had lot's of time and saw it as a hobby. So diving into a project like you see here is even worse I think because you probably have to replace engine ( Frozen and cracked or just internal rust amd corrosion in cylinders and carbs.) floors and maybe even the drives. Only thins that survives is the fiberglass. that will probably buff out and shines like new. But all used wood in stringers will be rotten and takes a lot of effort to replace. floatation foam will be soaked. And all parts and materials needed will also cast a fortune all together these days. So, don't think it makes real sense to start a project like that. Unless you only shop for bargains and have a lot of spare hobby time. Then maybe it makes sense.
Love these
You have been missed! All is right again.
It amazes me that boat salvage is go far behind auto salvage and recycling. Fiberglass can and should be recycled as this is the most environmentally friendly option. Fiberglass hulls can be recycled by breaking the hull down and melting it to be used again in producing new products.
Shredding: The fiberglass is broken down into smaller pieces, often through shredding or grinding.
Washing: The shredded fiberglass is washed to remove any contaminants or impurities.
Melting: The cleaned fiberglass is melted down in a furnace or kiln.
Molding: The melted fiberglass is poured into a mold and allowed to cool and harden.
Finishing: The molded fiberglass is trimmed and finished as needed.
Common uses:
Insulation: Recycled fiberglass can be used to make new insulation products. Automotive parts: Recycled fiberglass can make various automotive parts, including body panels, spoilers, and hoods. Boatbuilding: Recycled fiberglass can be used to repair existing boats. Construction: Recycled fiberglass can make structural elements such as beams, columns, and panels. Industrial products: Recycled fiberglass can make various industrial products, including tanks, pipes, and ducts.
That's a good point. It would take somebody with some money to start an operation like that :)
We've missed you!
Love that place for parts for my 1969 lynman i live about 30 mins from there
Inboard motors and bowriders, best place for them
I think I saw Ben Gardener's boat!
Damn, I could spend a full day in a place like that.
Thanks brother love the video acuna mattada
Been to Lake Lander many times , great place to get lost...
I hope you see this and can answer. Do these boat scrap yards let everyone in to get parts??
I saw a few tandem axel trailers I would like to have!
You should go to don's is located in clearwater florida
wohooooooo lovely!!!!...i thought you were sick
it's crazy to think that every boat has a story
From Erie pa, good to see you wearing a sweatshirt like normal people hahaha
Bayliners in their natural habitat. The junk yard.
@33:12 thats the TreeRay Barkdancer model.
Man I was scared the whole time thinking a racoon was going to jump out from one of those boats lol
Great video 📹
Glad you enjoyed it
Braving the MI rain. You had to be soaked by the end of your tour.
The people up there know boats. I don't ever remember seeing a bay liner I didn't like.
Yay! Another boatyard. So depressing and cool at the same time.
Pretty cool but say you found a boat that you wanted to resurrect how the hell do you get it out of there?
If you don't have great mechanical abilities, a boat is gonna cost a fortune. Most of the outdrive boats were probably tossed because some kind of major repair or repower problem that would cost more than the resale value of the boat or the small amount of pleasure the owner was seeing verses the investment to fix it. I repowered 5 out of 7 boats that I owned over 4 decades, saving me countless thousands of dollars. We used to blow OMC V4 115-140hp blocks every summer, practicing for AWSA tournament competitions. We sleeved cylinder 4, and every year that piston could not withstand the relentless 6500rpm hole shots, pulling skiers up and out. We had it down. We could take the powerhead off, replace the piston rod, and rings, and the next day we're back on the slalom course, beating the engine some more. I can't imagine all the money I would've dished out to mechanics if I couldn't do it all myself
All those people who retired back in the 70s and 80s and then died. Their boats ended up here.
NICE MOTOR MINNCOTA ELECTRIK WOOOOW
Are you on vacation? Will you be returning to Florida?Miss technicians Tuesday.
Is it just me, or was there a distinct lack of outboard-motor boats in that junkyard? I was raised in northern Indiana but didn't get into boats until I moved to Mississippi 12 years ago.
Love the videos, often staying up late in Australia to watch them. 👍👍 It’s kinda sad to see all these boats like this, as boats in Australia sell left right and centre and a crazy prices. There was a boat that was a salvage that went under in salt water engine and all. The boat ended up selling about $20K AUD ($14K USD)
Do you know of any boat salvage yards in northwest Florida?
Call off the FEDS he's back!! Yahoooo!!
Did you see any Tiara's? I'm looking for seats :)
I found at least 10 boats in there I want to restore. How many did you find.?
