This gent had some skills, the boat was made with nothing but hand tools, the help of his brother and the company of the loving labrador dogs, the building of this boat was amazing to watch, love this show, and love watching the craftspeople in it, for me, this is one! if not the best TV show to come out of Ireland.
It was lovely to see! I had SYMPHONY which is an Essex Estuary One Design Number 17. She was Rock Elm on Oak. 18 feet by 6 feet by 4'6" with Plsate Down. Designed by Commander Morgan Giles for the Essex Yacht Club at Leigh On Sea Essex. in 1917. My boat was 1928...She is Bermusdian Sloop rigged of 210 sq feet on a 31 foot wooden mast. with running back stays!...We won Falmouth Classics overall and class in 1997 and won our class in 1998. I gave her back to Essex Yacht Club in about 2001!...I must come over to the glorious Shannon to nose around!. I used to drive for O' Reilly Transport. I,m now retired and 77Y.O...LA5 Warton Lancs England
"... the keel, made from finest Irish larch, is brought to the stocks to be held in an unyielding embrace, until all is complete." Truly one of the poetries of all time.
He complained there about the quality of timber available. He would shed a tear at the state of available materials today. A slight different topic, but I'm currently dealing with a 1917 built house. The timber is a red pine, not larch but good and dense. It's rotten in places and had been eaten by lime mortar. But, as soon as you get into solid timber, it's hard and beautifully tight grained. Nothing built with graded timber today will be standing in 106 years, like this house is. Then there's the current notion of boat skin larch. You look at older clinker builts and the timber is like nothing being sold as boat building boards today.

I loved this series when it came out.
Have watched it again and again when I could.
Superb TV.
It seems that good content is being overlooked. This is good.

Noah was a fictional character, not a real boat builder, just saying.
Fictional? Says you. God says otherwise.
