I’ve been listening to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal for more than half a century, always searching for something harder and more creative, and no band since Led Zeppelin has grabbed me like BAND-MAID. I encourage you to keep going. Just like Led Zeppelin, BAND-MAID gives you a lot to chew on in each song, each member is an amazing musician, and their catalog encompasses many styles. For the last few years, the ladies have been crafting their own genre of Rock music.
That’s our Maids! Wonderfully nostalgic yet fresh and innovative. They manage to combine a wide range of genres into complex arraignments without the songs becoming overly cluttered. They often remind me of something that remains just out of reach. I’ve given up now and just call the genre Band-Maid. Best of all they always make me smile. I hope you enjoy this ride as much as I have.

If you listen to a dozen or so songs you will realise that MISA is one of the best rock bassists on the planet. Around the same time you will becone aware of the shocking realisation that together with Akane, who have been playing together almost exclusively since they were college kids, we have one of the best - maybe the best rhythm sections of all time. As for the band that is more down to taste but they are riding on a long surge in appreciation. They're a real band at the most fundamental level, nobody is between them and the finished product except a trusty engineer who knows his place.
Band Maid have been together for ten years. Based on Maid Cafes uniforms to highlight the gap between the look and what they sound like. They have been writing their own stuff for many years. They do write many Anime songs and have had songs featured in Netflix film 'Kate' and others. But I am not sure if No God has been featured. MISA the bassist will always have a moment in every song. So many songs to choose from and they are unique live in front of big or intimate audiences.
Thank you for your review of my favorite band, Band-Maid. You'll discover that not only do they have an excellent guitarist/main composer (KanamI), they also have a lead bassist, MISA. For the most part MISA writes her own bass parts and the drummer writes her part, based on notes from Kanami. There is no ego in this band, all members are equal.
That is the way it should be in every band! Put ego aside and just write great music 😊 Misa impressed me a lot during this video, I look forward to seeing more!

Best rock band on the planet! Ditto on what everyone says about Band-Maid. Also, if you love the bassist, then you'll be happy to know that Band-Maid features their bassist by far and away more than any other band. By the way, did you notice that she switched from slapping to picking in the middle of her solo? That is something quite special that she can do that I have yet to see from any other bassist.
That smile on your face, that's a Band-Maid trademark. You may want to check out their Dice/Hate? live at Lollapaloosa which is on YT somewhere. On their official channel try "Play" live. This song, "No God", was the next to last at this concert and the reason it fades softly away is because in the next and last song, "Choose Me" Saiki the lead singer does the first verse acapella alone in a spot light before the entire band kicks in. They always have surprises for their fans.

One of the reasons Misa's bass stands out is because she is so tight with Akani, particularly Akani's double kick - they constantly machine-gun sixteenth-notes together, often complex phrases, that you really don't often hear anyone doing, let alone for entire songs and ... it's fcking awesome.
The reason it sounds familiar and any older rocker like me can tell you is that BANDMAID brings back the sound from those great bands in the 70's and 80's. These ladies, this band, is SPECIAL. Thanks for checkin' 'em out! For your next reaction, maybe try the mv for the song "Warning". I totally picked that at randon, cuz it just doesn't matter. Familiar? First time I heard this, I was like YES!..."ACE OF MAIDS" Do a fellow Brit a favour...check out their 'Dice' MV before live versions. My most listened to track by them...that studio arrangement derserves respect. Great song...you might call it pristine or gilded punk 😁👌
The bass, played by Misa, will be your favorite part of a lot of Band-Maid songs. She is killer !! 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘 The Maids are not a metal band, but are a punk rock band that knows no boundaries !! 😮
Band maid is one of the best live shows out there! They just love being on stage and sound best on stage imo! Their studio stuff is great too but their live stuff is just next level! Prior to Covid I believe they were doing almost 90 shows a year or something close! During live shows it’s their goal to mess each other up as well! If you ever see them crowd one another or anything they are just trying to mess with one another! Also you mention the bassist MISA she is great! She tends to switch between slap and pick playing seamlessly!

Nice reaction. So, these girls aren't metal, some metal influences but mostly punk influenced hard rock with pop vocals. What sets them apart is the variety in their song styles and the complexity of the arrangements. The drummer, I believe, is the most technically competent but the bass player is a close second. The lead guitar is the songwriter and musical leader, she orchestrates maximum creative input from the others. The rhythm guitar, with the big smile, writes the lyrics. The lead vocal is a well trained pro. They've been together for 10 years and still have that much fun on stages. They love one another. Must be girls. I can't imagine 5 guys still that much into each other. The modesty of the three main players - drums, bass, and lead guitar - may have something to do with it. Check out Blooming, Black Hole, Puzzle, and From Now On for a wide variety of what they can do.
A couple things. First, you immediately picked up on their super power. They sound familiar in a great way. You may have never heard the song before but you’ll feel like you have, and immediately you’ll be in a comfortable, happy place while listening to them. Second, while this is a very Bass forward song, on nearly any track, especially in the last few years you can focus on a single instrument or vocals and hear new things and be impressed in every song. I still listen to songs I’ve heard dozens of times and find something new that I find musically clever and enjoyable. Somehow it all meshes together in a way that isn’t overwhelming and remains catchy as hell. I think this is actually a weirder song to start with, not that I don’t love it. But I’ll join the chorus of people suggesting the lollapalooza pairing of “Dice & Hate?” As a better(?) indication of their core sound.
The guitar vs bass duel between Kanami and Misa at Lollapalooza during Hate with Saiki in the background hyping it up and smiling ear to ear is incredible! The camera work and video editing leaves a bit to be desired. You can tell that they had never experienced Band-Maid before and had no clue who to focus on at the correct moments.
The opening riff was essentially "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead. MISA is the bass player. Her nickname is the Barefoot Assassin because she always takes off her shoes during shows. If you're looking for more bass features, I would suggest Hate, Dice, Domination, Don't You Tell Me and Thrill. Welcome down the rabbit hole.
Band-Maid is considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! They do play many stills of music and shine when performing live ! If you want something a little harder try "Real Existence" Official Live or "Play" Live ! Thanks Nice Reaction
They have done some Anime Intro and Outros and were featured in the Netflix Movie " Kate " with one Track and an Live Club Scene. But these were different Songs. Yes these Ladies have a signature Sound.
If you like rock guitar rifts and duels, you need to pull a video clip from RUclips of Band Maid's performance at the Lollapalooza music festival this summer in Chicago. There is a two-song clip from their one hour set. The two songs Dice/Hate? in the clip are amazing. There were of course guitar and bass solos in "Dice", but during the interlude between the two songs, Akane, their drummer kept pounding away on the drums. During "Hate", there is an epic call and respond guitar/ bass duel between Kanami, the lead guitarist, and Misa, the bassist. That video clip has gone bonkers viral on the internet.
Band Maid Magic 🪄 ❤ They have the exceptional ability to take familiar hard rock tuning, chord sequencing and energy and create something unmistakably Band Maid. Try “DICE,” official music video is the way to go. You may feel Guns ‘n Roses, if they were as complex as Rush, and as smooth as Santana. Which is uniquely Band Maid.
This might be my favourite Band-Maid song, but my favourite thing in this video is where Miku and Saiki make each other laugh, I'm glad you caught that bit.
I'd suggest Black Hole or Puzzle for a bit more of Band Maids technical side. Hate from lollapalooza has a bass and guitar call and response / dueling part. Their latest one 'Shambles' is one of, if not their heaviest song, and really showcases the drummer. i think those are songs that id show a friend who loves metal first since they are on the heavier side. That said Band-maid is primarily a hard rock band that mixes a lot of genres into their songs (classical, jazz, pop, metal and so on). And my favorite guitar solo comes from one of their slower songs called "daydreaming" - i can just feel it cry and it fits the song perfectly My favorite is a bit harder though, its called "different" - i swear i can hear a semblance to Mozart or more so Paganini in that song Basically Aside from personal preference, You really cant go wrong with any of their songs. There is something of interest in each one just note that in terms of genres they are all over the place and you might want to start with your preference then later look to those outside what you would normally like.
Thank you for your reaction and welcome to the Unseen World, the name of the album. Why not stay on this world for a while so I suggest the song Warning, both official MV and online live are good. Clearing of expectations recommended. Have fun. :)
BB, there's a nice bass highlight in "Influencer" I know you'll enjoy. MISA (bass) is the Slide Queen in my book. Stay with these girls and find out, they NEVER disappoint.........awesome slides in "Daydreaming".
The band calls the contrast between their cutesy maid costumes and their hard rock sound "the gap". They enjoy seeing the confused looks on people's faces when they walk on stage and the reaction when they start playing with their hard rock sound. My opinion is that Band-Maid are one of the best bands to have formed in the past 10 years, and are currently one of the best rock and roll bands on the planet. They play many genres including ballads, power ballads, pop, rock, progressive rock, hard rock, punk, metal, nu metal, and everything before in-between and beyond. They also have several great instrumental songs that they use live to give their lead singer Saiki a break. You said that you like heavy music so I would suggest checking out Rinne, which translates to Reincarnation. You can't go wrong by listening to Onset, From Now On, Moratorium, No God, Rinne, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, and my favorite Official Music Video of theirs Don't You Tell Me. The double bass kick drum on Rinne will blow your mind. Have fun with it! Introducing The Band... Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Misa [mee-suh] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Akane [aah-kah-nay] (Gorilla) - Drums Kanami [kuh-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals
By the way... Most musicians are stunned by Misa's bass playing and live tone. She doesn't do much root note droning. I always say she plays "lead bass". It's hard to see but she does what I call a magic trick when switching between picking and slapping. She tucks the pick between her index finger and palm and uses her thumb and middle finger to slap & pop. She switches between the two so quickly that you can't see exactly what she is doing. There is video of her demonstrating it during an interview. She was asked what happens if she drops the pick and she said she hasn't dropped one in 3 years. In another interview she stated simply "I never drop it". Total confidence from that girl.
The maids are great! MISA is one of the top tier bass guitarists in Japan. Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx, Asterism, and Paranoid Void are a few other Japanese groups known for their crazy good bass.
Yeah, you'll be revisiting this band a lot in the future (I'm predicting) as they are all very talented and innovative! That said, I do have to admit a weakness for the rhythm section!!🤘
Some have mentioned a Motorhead song that seems familiar at the beginning. You've found a great band man. You'll find more terrific bass in other sounds and amazing drums. I'd recommend the instrumental From Now On to see just how skilled they all are.
You are allowed to like the bass. Misa the bassist is very quiet, except when she plays the bass guitar -- and she is very popular. She is a "lead bassist".
Looking at your channel history I think out of the Japanese girls bands you might enjoy Nemophila more. Don't get me wrong; I'm a rabid Band-Maid fan and I can tell you enjoyed them. But if you're looking for metal with dueling guitar solos and some sprinkled harsh vocals I think Nemophila will be just about perfect. And try some more Band-Maid. Someone once said something about variety and life and spices. I think they just might have been talking about Band-Maid!
I looked at your react history. I think you probably noticed the title of the song "NO GOD" and reacted to this song. However, the VOICE and SOUND you expected were not there. I think this reaction is about that. Out of my top three Japanese female bands, BAND-MAID, NEMOPHILA, and LOVEBITES, I think NEMOPHILA is the one that would suit your tastes. For example, this "NEMOPHILA / Seize the Fate" 2023.7.17 TOKYO GARDEN THEATER ruclips.net/video/yyKGK1Se4bo/видео.html If you want to see what BAND-MAID is capable of as a live band, I think this one from their latest Chicago music festival is the best. "BAND-MAID - HATE? at Lollapalooza 2023 in 4K" 2023/08/06 CHICAGO ruclips.net/video/OvtKRZ9xt3E/видео.html By the way, the lyrics of "NO GOD" are about a woman who is heartbroken or frustrated and thinks, "There is no God, but there is always tomorrow."
Of all the songs from Band maid this is (IMO) the least on the list of 120+ tracks. Not saying I dont like it because I love everything they do. You are in for a big surprise reacting to these ladies because they are the best ROCK band on the planet today. Dont take my word for it....just listen to more tracks and you'll discover something amazing. Band-Maid is a genre. The closest you can come to placing them in a category is saying they are a ROCK band. They incorporate all ROCK genres in their music and sometimes in a single track. Amazing is all I can say for now. You'll have to come to your own conclusions about this band. A forewarning,.........Maidiacs will completely swamp your comments with history, individual band members stories, and composition nuances these ladies bring to the table. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
@@BraindeadBreakdown No God didn't hit me at first until I heard it live. Some of my fav songs don't grab me initially. Those are the ones that have staying power. MISA live just grabs your attention. I'm not a musician but I can hear her playing in almost every BM song.
Braindead , Welcome to BAND-MAID enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin . next song Domination , official live video or Play , official live video .
PLEASE TRY THEIR SONG CALLED "MORITORIUM". USUALLY, JBANDS ARE BEST LIVE. WHEN YOU GET TO THE BAND "NEMOPHILA", THE MV OF THEIR SONG "DISSENSION" IS BETTER THAN THE LIVE, IMO. BTW, FANS ARE ANTICIPATING AND WAITING TO SEE IF YOU ARE A BIT SHOCKED BY "BABYMETAL"
Yeah, they're not so much metal as they are various shades of rock, so it's possible they're not quite in your preferred wheelhouse. But hey, if you like that bass, they have plenty more of that!
Why do you ruin the video with clips from the reaction before the reaction? And it's not uncommon for MISA to become someones favorite of the band as well as their favorite bassist. They're all absolutely incredible.
No God is about their worst track for a first time intro, outside of Wonderland. It is just a mish mash of muddiness that is hard to pick out much clarity from. It is a track for people that are already hooked. Give them a couple more shots of their tracks that are more......conventional. Try their new MV of Shambles maybe, or the tried and true intro for most people, Domination live official.

The way they music written just make you feel like you heard before thats all
Nice reaction.
Thank you for the context on the band 😊 I will be checking out more of their stuff in the future for sure!
Band-Maid = joy in the form of awesome rock music.
Great reaction! You can't miss with these ladies, every song of theirs is pure ear candy 😎🤘
Shambles
It’s their latest, you won’t regret it
A couple things.
Welcome to Band-Maid!
Band-Maid is considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! They do play many stills of music and shine when performing live ! If you want something a little harder try "Real Existence" Official Live or "Play" Live ! Thanks Nice Reaction
I am going to be reacting to more BAND-MAID in the future, for sure!
This is the second recommendation for Lollapalloza, so that is a good sign for the show!
"This sounds familiar..." MinchoMagic, Po.
The riff is very Lemmy!
Oh the pigeon hole is deep and full of wonders, po!
Band Maid Magic 🪄 ❤
They have the exceptional ability to take familiar hard rock tuning, chord sequencing and energy and create something unmistakably Band Maid.
Try “DICE,” official music video is the way to go. You may feel Guns ‘n Roses, if they were as complex as Rush, and as smooth as Santana. Which is uniquely Band Maid.
That sounds very interesting, I like all of them 😂
This might be my favourite Band-Maid song, but my favourite thing in this video is where Miku and Saiki make each other laugh, I'm glad you caught that bit.
Best band on the planet 🤘🎎🤘🎎
I'd suggest Black Hole or Puzzle for a bit more of Band Maids technical side. Hate from lollapalooza has a bass and guitar call and response / dueling part. Their latest one 'Shambles' is one of, if not their heaviest song, and really showcases the drummer.
i think those are songs that id show a friend who loves metal first since they are on the heavier side. That said Band-maid is primarily a hard rock band that mixes a lot of genres into their songs (classical, jazz, pop, metal and so on). And my favorite guitar solo comes from one of their slower songs called "daydreaming" - i can just feel it cry and it fits the song perfectly
My favorite is a bit harder though, its called "different" - i swear i can hear a semblance to Mozart or more so Paganini in that song
Basically Aside from personal preference, You really cant go wrong with any of their songs.
The Maids rule ❤
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! oooohhhhh the BASS
MISA! MISA! MISA! It seems that the Japanese really like to maintain good traditions, including the good Things in metal music
Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder
Misa [mee-suh] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar
Akane [aah-kah-nay] (Gorilla) - Drums
Kanami [kuh-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter
Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals
😁You are correct that Japan is the place for Rock/Metal, with an updated twist ... OG UK Sabbath dude😁
OMNG! Check out the other NO God official Live MV on their channel. You can really hear the bass better as well as all the instruments.
👍👍👍👍👍
Welcome to the Maidiacs.
Actually it's Akane's drum that interests me the most. No Misa without Akane. But of course Misa is my favorite bassist along with Miyu from Asterism.
Bass and drums usually go hand in hand 😊
You are allowed to like the bass. Misa the bassist is very quiet, except when she plays the bass guitar -- and she is very popular. She is a "lead bassist".
I guess for the familiarity thing the underlining rift sounds a bit like a Motorhead song...
Yes, Ace of spades
Yes, I always associate it with Motorhead's "Ace of Spades".
They are one of the bands on my list, I will be getting to them soon 🙂 thank you for the recommendation!
1 2 3 4 Parking Lot! Po! 🕊️
I don’t care what she actually says, it is this.
Too shay atl
You won this round
You're probably thinking of "Ace of Spades" by Mötorhead.
Recomend react 2 songs Dice and Hate in Lollapaloza bring a great show.
For example, this
"NEMOPHILA / Seize the Fate"

If you want to see what BAND-MAID is capable of as a live band, I think this one from their latest Chicago music festival is the best.

By the way, the lyrics of "NO GOD" are about a woman who is heartbroken or frustrated and thinks, "There is no God, but there is always tomorrow."
This song sounds familiar. I wonder who would know this song.... let's ask Lemmy!
Hey Lemmy, does this song sound familiar to you? 😛
The fact you put this at the bottom is a good sign 🙂 I enjoyed it and I had to start somewhere! I look forward to hearing more!
@@BraindeadBreakdown No God didn't hit me at first until I heard it live. Some of my fav songs don't grab me initially. Those are the ones that have staying power. MISA live just grabs your attention. I'm not a musician but I can hear her playing in almost every BM song.
I think it sounds so familiar to you, because it has similarities to "ace of spades" by motörhead wich is more popular than No God.
It does have similarities, but it is not that.
I remember first hearing about Baby Metal around 14 years ago? I was not ready for it at that time, I might be more open to it now though 😊
It entertained me enough. I am happy to know that I am only scratching the surface 🙂
Welcome to Band-Maid!
