Something that grabs me about this one is the effect on the vocals that make him sound like he's drowning at the end. Very thematically appropriate. This one is gorgeous and underrated.
Vessel does that thing where you can get into ‘he doesn’t know that I know he knows that I know’ expectation sentence… then he takes a hard left and leaves your brain spinning for a moment. They like keeping us on the edge of the seat, musically. Another wonderful reaction!
The other day I was listening to this song in the car and when that last build at the end comes in and he just sings “it’s too late for me” over and over again, I was suddenly hit with the realization of how heartbreaking that is, because he really does sound like he’s getting sucked under in the metaphorical waters of depression. You’ll find that book-ending things is very much something Vessel enjoys doing, and he expands on that massively in TMBTE-speaking of, now that you’ve heard the things leading up to them, I’d honestly be curious to hear your take again on Ascensionism and TMBTE (the song). Like we got your “okay trying out this band called Sleep Token” version, so how about your “I am familiar with what it took to get here” version? Looking forward to your reactions to Telomeres and High Water for sure. And also was listening to The Summoning while driving tonight (I like to drive late at night and listen to music, and since I discovered Sleep Token it’s basically just been driving late at night listening to Sleep Token 😅) and I thought “oh man, Braindead’s gonna LOVE this one!” I know you’re cranking these videos out, but if you can do take some time to listen to the full albums and pay attention to lyrics some. That will be important moving forward. But also just please don’t burn yourself out making content for us nerds on here! Great work as always, my dude 👍🏻
I was thinking about doing that with those songs, but it doesn't seem genuine as I have already reacted to them before. Maybe I can add a little extra clip to the songs before or after to say how what I think of them now that I am a bit more experienced with ST. Definitely agree with it being a great mellow track for a playlist. I feel like they did a "softer" breakdown because of that. Feels like he wanted it to be a mellow track throughout.

This song is one that i wake up having it playing in my head. Distraction feels like a more straightforward sleep token song but i cant help but love it. Noe i need to emotionlly prepare for your reactions to Descending and High Water.

I am probably wrong, but I feel that Sleep Token book end their songs to reflect Vessel feeling like he is trapped in an ever repeating cycle. No matter what he does or how many times he tries, things keep going wrong for him and he finds himself back in the same emotional trauma. Not sure if you have already recorded your reaction to the last song on the album, Missing Limbs, but there is a fan shot video of Vessel performing it live that is worth a watch. Whoever recorded it was right in front of Vessel, and the audio quality is outstanding for a fan shot video. As it is a short song, it may be worth reacting to it after the studio version, both on the same video. Will post a link below. You could be correct as Vessel like to sprinkle in those kind of references, it is also a good musical device in general 😊 I have already recorded up to the end of TPWBYT, I am just editing and uploading them. If you have any suggestions like that for songs off of TMBTE though, I will work them in 😊
I can tell there's not a song that's not likable for you with them. That's how it was for me. They are just so good. All the layering of vocals and genius of the musical scores that he writes. Man, I'm glad i was introduced to this band. Vessel's voice has me completely obsessed. I cannot go to sleep at night without hearing some ST. 😊 I love his voice so much it's like a lullaby to me at bedtime 😂😂. Can't wait for you to get to the room below show where its just Vessel, his instrument of choice (its not always the piano) and his Vesselettes for back up vocals. Ngl I think that specific Room Below performance of Blood Sport (after the end of his message and when the crowd is singing along) might be my favorite version of it. Thankfully there are a few good videos of it on YT, so I was able to rip the audio for my music library. Love that one so much. And I now almost compulsively listen to Euclid when I get into bed and close my eyes, and I swear it helps lull me to sleep. 😌

Every day....I love his voice so much. I swear (for me) he's like a modern day Elvis, got everyone falling over themselves. 😂 I'm not complaining tho, well except they didn't come anywhere near me for a concert so I've had to binge all their shows on YT. Told my husband that if they come anywhere within a 4 hour drive from me, we're going. He looked at me like I was crazy but oh well 😂😂 I will see them live one day!!!

Like we just can’t be normal about them 😂 And you’re not crazy on driving that far to go to see them! I say that mainly because *I* drove four hours each way to see them (but I got a hotel and made it a mini vacation) and it was totally worth it. Got there 3 hours before doors opened and line was already two and a half blocks long. Spent two and a half hours waiting in 95°F/35°C sun, then in typical Texas fashion in the last 15 minutes before doors opened it randomly started POURING. Didn’t deter the fans one bit! There are also apparently a decent number of Americans going to the Wembley show, so traveling four hours is NBD 😅
