Absolutely Brilliant, i've bought myself a soldering iron instead of buying a new key from ford at £149 (key) and then £120 to programme, all plus vat, so a snip at £322 all in, Thank you
Thanks, my battery was exactly the same, flopping about, you just saved me a lot of hassle trying to unlock my van just before I went away. Ford tried to sell me a new key at £256 plus 6 week wait.
Great tip. Thanks. I had both transit keys not working. Was thinking of changing the charge ring on the ignition, believing that you couldn’t crack the keys open. Both came open easily. The fault was dry joints on the battery connection. Both keys. So I would speculate that this is a pretty standard problem. I didn’t put a new wire in, just remade the original connection. One battery looked as if it was ok, no movement, but re-soldering the joints got it working fine when putting back together, give the top half a full rotation to give the key a strong release when pressed.😀
Thanks so much man* i never knew it self charged, got it apart and exactly the same problem, broken tab, just cleaned off as much of the solder with the hot iron, and then used a 1mm drill bit to clean out the tab hole, little bit of wire soldered in and whalaa, works perfectly, cheers, k theres a pint with you name on it over ear in Ireland
After researching many of these vids it looks like 90% of faults are due to the tiny lugs on the battery that are too small to fit through the pcb. I resoldered mine & it works a treat now. However, my spare also didnt work due to it being left for yrs, i placed it on my phone cordless charger over night & now that works too 👍👍
Thanks pal ,sorted mine as shown, unfortunately I butchered the key casing ,but got a replacement off Ebay for a tenner, if your ever in Wigan theres a pint waiting
Eins sehr gutes Video danke.
What is the best glue to use? Like you want it strong but also to come apart again for the next battery change without to much case damage. Great video BTW 👍
@@aaanton11 I did the repair with some wire off an old L.E.D I found in a 'box of bits' slightly different method. But thanks again your a legend saved me a fortune 🤑🤗🤟drive.google.com/file/d/11bPJQTHZyLRWR9J3xzAtYnb3xIB5AXiG/view?usp=drivesdk
i cant believe they designed it with a solder on battery rather than the normal replacement battery style! but if the legs does snap just get a new battery, its £10 and you dont need to butcher the casing in any way, i would also use a rubber sealant rather than super glue incase you need to get in to again.
Great video. Absolute joke by ford that the build such a crap board and seal it shut, then when it inevitably breaks you have to spend £250+ for a new one. On my 3rd key already on a 2014 transit!
Yes mate!! Both my keys died and was eyeing up splashing £400 odd on a new pair. This WORKED!!!! Brilliant, thank you so much!!!
