📣 These Credit Card Features Could Change Everything
At Prince of Travel, we get a lot of questions like what are the best credit card points programs in Canada? what is the best Canadian travel credit card for beginners?
We see it as out job to give you the information you need to elevate your travels through Miles & Points. This requires us to dive deep into the credit card game, which means we’ve discovered cards, features, and benefits we LIKE…
Yet also come up with a list of those we don’t 😞
At least, features we believe would make these already good cards great 🚀
In this video we dive into a series of cards, showing you:
1️⃣ How banks can improve their points programs: so they offer you more value and provide greater incentive to have their card become your “everyday” card.
2️⃣ How banks can improve their partnerships: so you have more flexibility with your points, allowing you to turn bucket list items into dream vacations you regularly check off.
3️⃣ One “Dark Horse” financial institution that’s recently made waves and could become a must-have in your wallet if they made these 2-3 changes.
.
If any of the big banks made these changes, they would quickly rise to the top of our list as our number one recommendation.
Although this is just our opinion, what about you 🫵
Add your own Credit card Changes in the comments and let’s see if we can get these banks to make the changes we crave 😉

Congrats on 100k Ricky!🎉🎉🎉 Love the more detailed videos you've been uploading like this one 😊 Thank you!
This is such a creative and informative video. Thank you!
congrats on 100k subs!
Congrats on 100K Ricky
MBNA partnership with Alaska can’t come fast enough! They have been dragging their feet, so I hope it happens.
Pity Alaska MVP is tanking fast. I'm using all my miles as fast as I can if only I can redeem the Premium classes I want
I aint paying 150$ a year for the Scotia bank no FX fee cards that are gonna help me for maybe 2-3 weeks of the year and have to spend 6000$ abroad just to break even!! Wealthsimple cash card has no fx fees + you get 1% cashback on everything, it’s a no brainer.
Yea I feel like most people that care so much about no fx fee, probably haven’t done the math on how much they save. If they spend 2000$ a year on forex, that’s 50$ fee saving. It’s not that significant in grand scheme of things
I think of the no fx fee perk as just an extra benefit, not the main reason to get these cards
You get the most out of scene+ through the points multipliers on various categories, then redeeming those points at 100 pts=$1, which over a year more than covers the yearly fee
I'd rather use credit space than WS Cash or Wise so that money can accrue interest or can be invested until I have to pay the bill
I have the same card but I have the ultimate account with scotia which waives the fee, the card from scotia also gives 6 lounge visits, and I have scotiaItrade which gives me 5 free trades every year, so overall the 5k I keep with the bank pays back.
I heard disputing a charge with them is difficult. Have you ever encountered this?
I have the Scotiabank card, but mainly for the 6 lounge accesses that are included. They do also seem to have a better two factor authentication system so I've had to use them while travelling at times because TD Aeroplan only had SMS... which while travelling abroad doesn't work (unless you have like wifi calling)
Amex should add the non fx fees to their cards and that would just leave them at the top eternally lol since they either offer great MR points multipliers like the Cobalt or have the lounge and other credits like the platinum. Aside from Amex I think Scotia passport has the best available card for travel because the no fx fee and lounges. The other ones are really not that awesome, mayhe the TD Aeroplan would also be great if it added lounges and non fx.
Amex adding no fx to a card like Cobalt would be the end for everyone else. It would be a wrap, RIP any competition.
Hence I use my US Amex Aspire card with no fx fee and 7x on air tickets
Yes, we need some Canadian credits offer no fx fee.
Read from other communities the idea of Ion+ & Avion VI which Ion+ being the everyday spending then transfer the points to Avion VI to redeem. Does this worth analyzing?
Hey Prince of Travel, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made.
I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Thank you for your interest in working for us. For employment opportunity, kindly go to our Prince of Travel blog and look for our Career tab at the bottom of our blog.
A lot of wishful thinking in this video that will probably never happen. I agree with you on RBC Avion, I plan on cancelling my card at the end of my cycle.
You never know if someone working at these banks might get inspired and bring up these ideas at product team meetings ;)
Same here, I’m closing this card as the travel redemption has been getting worse and worse. You also used to be able to collect Avion points from the standard banking accounts, but they got rid of that. Bye bye RBC.
Meh they follow him. Better to say a word than keep his mouth quiet like u
Even if nothing changes at least he trief
Sole reason I signed up for the MBNA WE was the potential 1:1 transfer to Alaska... hope they pull it off.
I was given a RBC avion infinite in place of my HSBC worldelite but they are not giving 0% exchange fees. I called to ask and was told (after she originally misled me and I brought up the fine print in the welcome letter that mentioned the 2.5%) that there are no perks carried over and that they charge the 2.5, which now has me hunting for a better no exchange rate card and has led me to the scotia option. Why didnt I get the 0% for the avion? Any ideas?
Useless cards. But ricky explains how to use rbc avious on his site if u want to keep them
Does MBNA have rules like 5/6 or 5/12 or something? Applied for the MBNA card and I got rejected after like 2 seconds, as if their system didn’t even need to process my application. Wondering if I’m disqualified based on some criteria I’m not aware of
Mbna is a scam if they do what he says they may improve
Hey Ricky! I'll be moving to Canada soon from Australia and live there, As a new comer I will be having large expenses at the beginning like furniture, car, etc. Which credit card can I get immediately without a job or credit score to put those purchases into good use for rewards right away! Your help would be appreciated!
If you have Amex cards from Australia, try to ask Amex Australia to get you to get a card for Amex Canada. But if you don't then you got to start from the beginning to get your credit score going. Kindly google "Prince of Travel beginner cards" and see what are some of the better options out there we recommend
CIBC world mastercard has access to 1,400 airport lounges.. Dragon pass included...
You talk about TD with Starbucks & Aeroplan but ignore CIBC with Journie & Aeroplan? why does everyone ignore CIBC partnership and benefits
Thanks for the great video. What’s your conclusion? lol I’m still not sure what credit card to get. 😊
This was just a thought exercise, discussing features and changes we wish the card issuers would make. This is a great place to start exploring which card to get next: princeoftravel.com/deals/best-credit-card-offers/
Thanks for the video playback speed 0.75x
CIBC needs to go all in with Aeroplan
Is there any indication that Flair and/or Porter will have an affiliated credit card?
Who cares. Flair/Porter are cheap enough. And I don't fly them anyway they suck
Porter might one day but Flair is on borrowed time. Their owners just had to fold the Australian version of Flair...
I'm really disappointed in the redemption rates over the past year. I've only been able to redeem Aeroplan at a 1.2 cent - 1.3 cent rate for most trips to Europe or the US. Even looking 10 months into the end of Feb 2025 the redemption compared to the cash rate is still terrible. A family of 4 trip from Toronto to Lisbon is now 320,000 pnts plus $670 in taxes. We went to Miami in Nov 2022 for 20k/pp now its 26k for the same period. I'm not sure how the redemption rate is set at 2.2 cent
Walmart supercenters are already 5x for MBNA
@@Car_Fanatic not if the Alaska 1:1 goes through. Then it's up there with the cobalt.
You can still get 1 cent per point with MBNA travel. Effectively 5c cash back on their 5 point categories. Better than a lot of cards
I have a prepaid EQ bank card with no forgen transactions fess.
Useless card
@@Car_Fanatic But forgen transactions fess will outway any points.
BMO’s Mastercard with rewards is not very rewarding. We’d use our Aeroplan Visa more but Costco doesn’t take Visa- except online. Airmiles has lost our faith so what Mastercard can we get that gives some sort of reward for our Costco purchases? Ya a Costco Mastercard. 🤷♂️
He made an article about the best costco credit cards go read it
Thanks
So basically, all the banks please increase your expenses lol. Hope they do it tho!
Rbc does have the ION + which wasn't mentioned and the points are worth the same when paired with the avion cards
Cdn bank credit cards are mostly a scam for clueless people. I don't even care that Rick loves rbc points. They are annoying to deal with.
But to each the8r own and soke have unique usecases
I.e YMMV
Scene definitely needs transfer partners
Scene is a scam who cares. Don't touch it
Amex should remove the forex fee
Amex us have no fx fees on majority of their credit cards, so why not amex canada? You’re right
1000000%
BMO is a disaster - eclipse sucks
Yup
Your lip is bleeding
I don’t know if this is an older video, but I don’t think the Alaska went to one transfer is gonna happen. More over I think I’d love to see some transparency from Ricky to see how much affiliate points. He actually makes if somebody were to use his link. Transparency is only normal in the world
Sometimes it's not up to me to disclose information. For example, recall many youtubers have similar sponsored videos? Like Surfshark or NordVPN etc? Each youtuber were given a different compensation and are not allowed to disclose to the public.
@@PrinceofTravel it's no one business to know anything about ur referral links. Ignore the haters bro
No love for National Bank
They have some of the best insurance with their cards, especially award flights where most cards don't cover.
great videos, wish they were half the length tho
1st?
#1: Stop adding all sorts of bullshit conditions to sign up bonuses.
#2: Get rid of bullshit aeroplan-wide limits to subs.
Scotia: fix your fucking customer service. It’s appalling.
the guys lip is bleeding while creating content lol.
Dude slow down……
Improve ur iq. His English and speed is perfect. Too bad ur too slow
Try setting the video to 0.75x speed. We have to condense lots of information within a short period of time, so there's no time to have "fillers" or to have gaps between each set of information. Thanks for understanding
@@PrinceofTravel there is nothing wrong with ur speed or speech ricky. Ignore these haters. Be you brother love u and ur team and friends.❤️😇
