    Something to note about the TD Visa Infinite is a full annual fee rebate each calendar year (up to $139) when you hold min. $5K in an all-inclusive TD bank account.

    I've started taking your advice about 8 months ago. I have amassed about 200k points and am looking to redeem soon here. One question I have about all of this is what to do after you have achieved the minimum spend and the card is no longer than valuable to you... surely you can't just have 10+ cards where you are paying $100+ a year per card for the annual fees...

    I was wondering if you could do a video about switching to a Premium Economy or Business class seat if one becomes available on the flight you have booked. Or maybe even switching flights to take advantage of a premium seat offer. What would the change fees be? Or which type of ticket should be booked initially to give maximum flexibility?

    • @PrinceofTravel

      A big purchase will result in a higher utilizaton ratio, which may decrease your score, albeit just a little anyway. So to prevent that from happening, paying it off before the statement date is a good method.

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  11 месяцев назад

      Run the search on Aeroplan (or other partner), and see which is less. Book the cheaper/better option. AMEX points transfers to Aeroplan usually take less than 30 minutes.

      I flew on air Canada in march 2024 from Toronto to Rome round trip in business class costing only 120k points per person. The cash price for the ticket is 6000 Canadian dollar each ticket. It is a much better value than 100k points flying to Asia in economy. Fixed points travel is a value trap. It sounds good, but when you punch the number with calculator, the value is awful.

You have to register with the IRS to get a tax number and with 4 attempts to do and redo paper work and sent it to the IRS and getting the BMO Harris bank to assist with other card applications and sending the IRS paperwork I still have been refused. I was told the only sure option is to go to a specific banks branch/location (American express, chase, US bank, etc) and apply in person with can take more then one visit to the same branch which if visiting for only a week or two at a time can be very tough to accomplish. I’m taking one more crack at it next fall to see if time past will change an enough to get one.

    Didn’t they change policies to only give sign up bonus’ once per lifetime per “level” of card?
    Also, aeroplan increased the points for business class by 40% over the old system, flew to Italy (Europe 2 for 115k round trip), that same trip is about 180k-250k round trip. Sad!

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, Aeroplan has instituted new terms and conditions regarding signup bonuses: princeoftravel.pulse.ly/7cfuqpm0lc
      While point costs have generally increased under the new program (like everything else in life), your example redemption would have cost close to one thousand dollars in fuel surcharges and fees under the previous program (flying Air Canada). While dynamic pricing can often be high, redemptions to Europe for much less than your quoted amount are still possible (110-140k round trip).

      Amex is once in a lifetime but most other card providers will allow you to get a welcome bonus every 2 to 4 years after cancelled. (Cancel today and two to four years once date you can get that same cards bonus whatever it happens to be). My 2nd got the Scotia passport infinite visa again after having the card cancelled for 31 months , and she just got the bonus . RBC says it’s 48 months after you cancel a card you can get another with the new bonus and BMO was two years but they gave me the airmiles world elite card and the 3000 mile bonus after a year of originally cancelling it (BMO is my bank for daily use so maybe that has something to do with it too but I’m not sure)
