The lack of a bathroom sink is appalling, however.....I because of the location of the kitchen sink it shouldn't be an issue for a small, wall-mounted one 2b added on the the connecting wall. I doubt it's a loadbearing wall. It woukd be added value for the next tenants too.
Wow, that's a beautiful little apartment. How did you find this chambre de bonne? I'd like to rent one in Paris too, for the next 3 months, but it is soo hard to find😔 Please tell me if you have some ideas and tips, I would really appreciate that😊❤️
@@SophiaNicoleLoPresti When do you think is the best time to move to Paris? Also is it better to move in yourself of use a moving company? I would be moving from NYC!
@@Nina-co4jd in all honesty I'm not too sure, it depends at what type of accomodation you want to book, but probably June/beginning of July. Also if you don't have too much stuff you don't need movers.
I've had a brilliant thought. You pay 4 my trip to PARIS, and I will design that little space so that you will ADORE it! Wow. I guess it would be ok for a single person if they were otherwise homeless but this is terribly small. My chicken coop is 11 sq meters. This is smaller with less space to stand in. I hope you all were able to move to a larger space.
You are completely right! It was extremely small and uncomfortable. Gladly we were able to move, we have moved twice if you want you can check out the other place I moved into i did a video! PS love you dog!!!
I once had a place like this! at least your toilet is inside. I had to go out and into the hallway to get to the toilet! but I did not care...I was in Paris!
We were two in the house so I think that made it really hard, but it was temporary. I have to say I admire you for not caring on having to go use the toilet in the hallway. And definitely Paris is amazing 😍
I have been trying to find out if any animals are allowed in chambre de bonnes but haven't found an answer. Do you know if they would usually be or does it vary depending on where you live?
Hello! Supposedly in france you cannot forbid animals so once you have a housing contract there is not much they can do. However if you mention you have an anunal chances are they won't give you the apartment. What I have said does not apply for dogs under the dangerous category. Hope this helps if you need more info feel free to ask.
@@SophiaNicoleLoPresti Thank you so much for answering my question, that is really good to know. I have an 8lb yorkie-poodle mix so I doubt she'd be considered dangerous which is great to hear 🥰🥰🥰
@@gracerose7017 oh yes you are fine! It's certain breeds. My advice is to visit the flat and don't say anything and afterwards once you have signed your contract they can't do anything. When signing your contract you will notice that there is no mention in it about dogs. Glad I could help.
A chambre de bonne is where the maids used to live. It is located at the top floor, directly under the roof (the attic). Sorry for the late reply I just saw the comment.
€500 a month is cheaper than Dublin! Youd be paying €700 at the very least for a place like that here and it's nowhere as nice as Paris (that goes without saying lol)
I actually don't know how much the flat was because the state pays a part, and since I was sub-renting the guy probably had APL and only charged me what was not covered :).
I don't remember exactly, around 500€ to 700€ I don't know the exact amount because I was in sous-location so I don't know if the renter was receiving APL but I believe I said it in the video.
Honestly I don't think you made the best of that place. If you'd put your sofa bed where the yellow cupboard is, I can see there is space next to it where you have stuff just piled up, facing the window, and pull it out at night so your feet are in the lower part, and put a TV on the low cupboard unit under the eves, you'd have a nice living space. Perhaps get rid of the clutter like the horrible deckchair too. I reckon if you had got rid of the yellow cupboard then you could have had a small dining table with stools/chairs on the right where your sofa was. Something minimalist and small. Also having so much stuff out makes the place look cluttered. For 1 person it would be fine, but I can see for 2 it's a bit of a squeeze though.
The really fucked uo part is that this one is actually one of the best chambres de bonnes If you see what shit holes they rent to others is crazy But this should be illegal anyways it’s not humane
Landlords take advantage. Good job in making the flat work for you.. But you need to be super fit to go up those stairs. I would have left my lungs somewhere at bottom!
I'm happy for you that you have been lucky in life but that's not the case for everyone, a lot of people have to work really hard for what they have and want.
I simply don't imagine if there is a fire in these types of "apartments" how the people would survive!! It should be illegal that the landlords have people living in such unsafe conditions. This apartment is a little better that others that I have seen, where is almost subhuman to live. I cannot imagine the students try to study and live in these types of places. Paris, it's better to visit it as a tourist instead of living there. I'm very disappointed.
If you want to live somewhere else you are free to go. Those appartements cost more than 100 000 euros, not everyone can afford a bigger one and not everyone wants to live outside Paris. It's a choice. I'm gonna buy one for myself and I'm not sorry at all and I don't think it should be illegal 🙄
Thanks for this video! I’ve seen so many videos about apartments in Paris, and most buildings are in a very bad condition, I wonder why
Does it come with a rat who happens to be a gourmet chef?
I wish 😂!!!
You are a extremely kind person. Much love from turkey!

Glad we aren't the only ones living in a tiny chambre de bonne!
Yes it's a struggle, although I was lucky enough to find a bigger place and move out.
ill live with that. room size doesnt matter as long as there is tv and good internet and netflix ofcourse.

its not so bad really... the bathroom actually quite nice!
Ha ha aha ha! I bet it's a 100 degrees in there in the summertime. Not fit for humans! the bathroom floor would be wet all the time.
Please stop glamorizing this inhumane way of living
Not bad, a kitchen with a stove and fridge, an on suite toilet and shower, not bad at all, to rest and store your stuff
For the price it was fine, but I personally would rather live with other people and have a bigger flat.
