I am French and I must say: you are lucky because this is not what a chambre de bonne looks like! This room is a thousand times cleaner, modern and brighter. In real "French life", they put you in a dark cupboard like Harry Potter and ask you to pay 800 euros to hear your neighbours eating chips. And the toilet is in the corridor. So I'm happy for you!
I am definitely very lucky! My landlord lives in the same building and they newly renovated the room just before I moved in which I think is why it's so nice! Thank you :)
Have you ever tried privacy window film? It sticks to the window with a little soapy water. You can cut it to size, maybe a solution for your bathroom wall.
@@frenchcesca3988 Cute apartment and video! I was going to suggest that same thing for the bathroom. You can also find it under frosted vinyl, even on Amazon. And also, there are some kind of temporary paper shades o blinds, you can cut and install yourself, that I believe may help you with the big windows. I know they exist in France because I saw them on "Una mexicana en Paris" channel (A Mexican in Paris), and she, Mirella, bought them for her balcony (you can see them on the video where she redecorates her balcony, they seemed super practical. I also saw them on Amazon). Greetings from a venezuelan architect!
I would add, for exterior window privacy, a simple tension rod for the window nook and a cafe curtain. Tension rods don't need hardware and they're very inexpensive.
If you’re feeling the lack of privacy you can hang a curtain by the window with a pressure curtain rod, it won’t ruin the walls and you’ll have your curtain!
Just came across this video. Your chambre de bonne is seriously amazing, my friends one would literally just fit a mattress, a tiny closet and a desk 😂
Your voice is so calming ~ as someone who loves to bake, I'd definitely miss an oven but the space looks great! I'm looking forward to checking out more of your videos :)
What a lovely apartment! I had a similar issue with some glass windows and privacy. I bought a roll of “frosted privacy static film” from Amazon and it is amazing! It sticks with water and it is super easy to remove and reuse so it is super rent friendly.
That is a very nice setup! I’m thinking if you got an expandable tension rod to go between the walls either side of the kitchen over the window, then hang a fabric shower curtain , cut to the right length, across it for privacy and darkness. It’s not permanent and would be easily removed. Tie it to one side during the day, so you can open the window. Same in your bathroom. BHV would have them. Whoever renovated this c de b did a lovely job! Lucky you!🇫🇷
I would put the chair over the wifi box and put your laundry where the chair is. More out of sight when u walk in the door! You can buy window frosting in a roll it would work perfect in the bathroom. Buy some command hooks to hang curtains!!
Very modern and efficient. And you dont have an electric toilette! A big plus. You can’t put up shelves? So much bare wall space..? And you have a real radiator! Many pluses. Bravo!
Your room is not too shabby. Most don't even have a kitchen. Also, Ikea has those frosted glass plastic window stick-ons. That may be a good alternative to window coverings. While you're there, you can upgrade your bed to a loft-bed which will raise your bed by 2 meters and you can actually put a small sofa in your room.
Very nice for a chambre de bonne. Keep an eye out at flea markets and charity shops like Emmaus for a small septimanier (sp?) or narrow étagère. That could be the solution for the odd nook at the end of your bed.
Centrakor has frosty glass sticker sheets for your bathroom window (and doors), and (as everything in that store) light weight curtain rods and narrow sheer curtains for your window, easily for under €20 for all 👍🏻 Love that store 😃 How much does one pay for such apartment in Paris, if I may ask (even a range)?
Looks so beautiful! Is this place available now? Or any more in the building moving to Paris in October would be so greatful for any advice on finding an apartment 🤞🏼
My friend had a chambre de bonne with a double bed, but there was basically no room to stand, haha. But she didn't have her own toilet and her shower was in this tiny box that looked kind of like a tall fridge.
In Germany are every flat/Appartement a bright room and is isolated by noises - also the windows. Nobody is hearing your own neighbour and its calm in your home. The most small Appartements are 45m2 to 75m2.
Look online for recipes but you can cover your bathroom glass with a cornstarch and water solution and then apply tissue paper for a frosted glass look.

As far as the kitchen window and night time darkness/ early morning rising, I'd put up a tension rod with a simple curtain that you can close.
