I love this video. I know a lot of people would complain about this flat but you made it work so well!! I used to live in a studio and made the space so functional! Well done!
I had a small flat when I first moved to London many years ago. Now have a house, but still have a fond attachment to my first flat. It's just lovely to have a place that you can call your own.
to answer your question yes the room is a converted bedroom landlords do it to get as much money as they can out of a property, you have done really well to maximise the space and make it a home well done.
This studio is a gem!!! You truly came across a very nice place, and what you have done with it is really nice. I love that closet. The building must be well put together. Thanks for sharing.😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
There was a studio apartment in this video? I was so distracted I barely noticed 💚 Beautiful small home, with an intelligent and practical use of available space. Nice one x
It's quaint and can be a good foundation for building your wealth (Saving/Investing) while enjoying the many things London has to offer. You keep doing your creative thing and be kind to each other. Thanks for the tea invite!
can confirm it is very normal in the UK for properties to be broken down into multiple flats to maximise profit. so yeah your flat is a repurposed bedroom
You've done a great job! My only suggestion is a fake plant on top of the bathroom cabinet. Something that drapes over would look awesome (e.g. string of pearls plant)
Thank you for showing us around your wonderful studio apartment. Are used to live in a studio apartment in Nottinghamshires. It was an old police station that had been turned into flats and it had 2 one bedroom flats and 2 studio flats. I lived in one of the studio flats or as they call it bedsits and because it was a grade 2 listed building the landlord wouldn’t do anything about the damp it was horrendous and winter time as a heating wasn’t very good. My landlord said that I was getting damp because of the way I had my furniture. My bedroom/lounge would have probably been the same size as yours. I didn’t have a hallway but my kitchen which was my favourite part of the flat because it was spacious and a separate room and the cupboards were nicer than where I’m living now. The bathroom was okay bit more room than yours. It had a shower whereas I like a bath and the bathroom did suffer from damp quite a bit. I could touch the walls and they were wet as anything so I had to move due to my ongoing health issues. Now I’m in a lovely one bedroom flat that is brand-new and very spacious apart from the lounge and I would say my hallway is my favourite part of the flat because it’s so spacious.
Never seen you that excited! I love the energy!❤ I definitely agree, I currently live in a slightly larger apartment than yours in Turkey, just to have a safer place from the war in my country. The place is with a kitchen right next to the bed and study area, everything is small and tiny but all functional. And we managed to place the furniture so we have most space and that worked so well! I definitely feel like this experience humbled me and showed me that I can literally make any place, no matter how small, be functional and homie.❤ Always grateful 🙏🏻
I do feel landlords are taking the mick by converting their houses into smaller flats but trying to squeeze as many flats into a large house, so they can charge overinflated rents. When you consider if you move out into zone 6 and have access to trains like the Elizabeth line you can get larger space for cheaper rents. And in some cases, for the price of rent you pay closer to the city centre, like zone 2-4 you can sometimes purchase a freehold and own the property out right. That being said, you and you’re husband have made your small studio look nice and liveable. I particularly like the portable kitchen island that can be brought out for use when cooking and neatly put away afterwards after cooking.
If this is on the top floor and it looks that way, then that is where the servants used to live. Originally it would have been one big house. From the 60s onwards houses were converted into lots of tiny flats in London. In the 80s lots of slumlords were able to get properties cheaply off the councils under Thatcher’s ill-advised right to buy scheme. - A pre-war building tends to have much more character indeed - I have lived in all sorts of places since coming to London and yes, the first one was a flatshare with four others. Having one’s own place is the best.
I love everything about this, that place looks like a these scary London fog movies that I binge watch with Actors like Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing 🧛🏻
I adore your apartment and yes, I'd love to pop in for a cup of tea! Your channel content looks so interesting so I've subbed! No doubt I will message again, Happy New Year❤🤗🙏🏼 PS I've just seen you've moved again?!😊
Love it ! My dear late Mom was born & raised in London & now that I’m in my 60’s , I’d love to move there. I resist giving up my books , but for London ?? I might. Are you storing things back in Canada ? I live in the states on the border. Have gone to Canada my whole life. All the best to you & your husband in London!! Congrats ! Can I ask how much the rent is ?
You did well in what was/is a bedroom. I wonder if the couch could be rotated 45 degrees to face either the window or the door when the desk or kitchen are not in use
It’s messy . Should have utilised the window and fireplace . You knocked out the two redeeming features of the unit and worked everything else around . Some underbed storage would have helpful
I like this type of video (or filmita, I have Spanish friends who call RUclips clips filmitas and filmititas)......glad you're happy, it's a nice space, ¡espacia simpática!
Very nice but you shouldn't block the lovely fireplace as that would be a good centre piece, also walks are a bit bare needs some colour and need space to show off window as desk blocks it
im so impressed with how you turned the space into such a cozy home, looks gorgeous💕💕if its not too personal, how much is the rent( just as a single gal looking for something similar)
loooooove this space especially the fireplace 🤩 how much square footage would you say your place is? i’m looking to move out of my parents place and wondering how low i can go to still make it work with a desk, bed, couch and small kitchen…
Not so much a flat, but a couple of self-contained rooms in an Edwardian house. Glad you enjoy living there and at least it is an "affordable" property in London. You look like you have made it work for you. The housing market in London is a disgrace.
I live in a one-bedroom apartment in East London, where I pay £1,350 plus bills. It has a separate bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub. It only takes me 20-30 minutes to get to Central London. Honestly, unless an apartment like this costs around £900-£1,100, I don’t think it’s worth it. I don’t understand why people choose to live in such small spaces when they could commute the same distance and have a larger home for less money.
Accidentally found this as I just landed to spend a few days here in London. I'm Canadian too and very intrigues to learn how you secured a legal move to london? I'm assuming it's a longer stay than 6mths?
Hi I liked the video and haven't been through all the comments yet, but is there any chance you could give a rough ballpark figure to how much such an apartment would cost PCM? Thanks
I ve never been able to afford more than a room in an hmo...most studios are not they hsve no srparate kitchen but call themselves a studio for 1k plus bills which would take a whole wage

Such a lovely, cosy studio! had one a third of this size many years ago 😂
Nicely presented. If you were selling that space, I'd be a buyer.
your flat is lovely. you can face the sofa toward the fireplace.
thank you! we've tried this but then it blocks the kitchen, looks awkward :/
That warm English welcome, wanna come in for a cup of Tea

Lol I lived in a zone 4 studio and it was smaller than this 😭. This is such a lovely space
Tiny? Haha come to Tokyo. I like the vibes there very homey!
Great job!
thank youuu
@ Is there space under the bed for drawers? If not potentially you could lift the bed with 4 bricks, one wood blocks to give more storage …..??
that little couch is adorable, for sure looking for something like that for my next place!

sugar? milk?

thanks! yeah we will rotate the couch when drying clothes (almost no drying machine in this country lol) but i still prefer against the wall imo
Can you please tell us how much the rent is?

Very cute and liveable ❤❤
Too small? Check out small apartments in NYC Paris Hong Kong & Japan. You will see what small is.

low four figures!
Oh okay, well I'm sure that's a reasonable price! Thanks!
Tell us please how much studio like that costs in London
Rent? For a studio in Londdon? Thank you
Nice flat 😁
Price?
The monthly cost
What do you pay for it?
Certainly more about showing yourself off and less about the cosy lovely flat
Lmaoooooo
could add more shevles in room
I'd go mad in about a day and a half tops.
You've just invited 12,600 people in, to have a cuppa. You better have a lot of tea bags 😮 🫖☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️

London is such a dump. My friend lives in Crouch End and pays £1700 per month for a hell hole 1 bed flat. Turkish landlord.
