Speaking of nostalgic. This video is very reminiscent of the old school days of flight test. Thanks for providing excellent content! Be Safe , be well!
This reminds me of the videos of garage projects made in Chad's backyard. Wow! I've forgotten how wonderful that setting was. The production of FliteTest has come so far but I'm so glad that Josh has taken this opportunity to bring his passion and this hobby back down to the level most of us out there are at and can achieve. This is a wonderful video.
Thanks for the video. Pretty cool. This is what RC model aircraft is about. Building your own plane in your garage or basement. The joy of flying a DIY craft. Nowadays, it’s huge planes, costing thousands of dollar, flown by big boys, with deep pockets. It’s nice to see, appreciate the airplane manoeuvres etc etc, but call me old fashioned, I still love the joy of kids, dads flying their handmade planes and having loads of fun. Hang in there. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Z
1:20 I really appreciate that edited stabilization in the camera, that's extra work that only benefits us and I dont see any comments about it and wanted to say thanks and I hope you and everyone else here on youtube and in the ft family is staying safe during these times :D
So far on quarantine, I have built from scratch a mini mustang, an EZ Glider, a mini sparrow glider and built a mini scout kit...and just received a p40 kit with power pack, and the freighter. Starting the P40 after I watch this video, and will be building another EZ glider along with Bix tomorrow. Thank you guys for keeping me busy through all this!
I built a Mini Scout shortly after they first appeared, and I still have it. Great little plane! I really enjoyed flying it... in fact, I brought it to (I think) the first Flite Fest.
You guys are so awesome. I’m from South Africa and my dream is to go to flute test. I’ve never been to Ohio before. You guys allow your fans to meet you guys and you guys help them with building and stuff. It’s awesome that we don’t have to have special passes to meet you guys. I really like all the vids. Keep it up guys. You are all awesome😎😎✌️👍👍
This episode and the stories were so amazing... please do another like this!!!!!!!!!!! I might've had a little tear in my eye seeing all the flashbacks and memories.
The mini scout was my first plane, it’s very stable and (Because of the under-camber wing) it flies very slow. I learned how to fly it then I taught my dad and grandpa how to fly! Thank you very much Flite Test, you brought my hole family into flight. ❤️❤️ With love from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤️
I'm 58 now but as a child I use the go to the park and watch the people flying the model air planes and wishing I could afford to build and fly one. What you did was to put the hobby into the hands of people like me and I thank you. Respectfully Keith Elliott Dickerson. Subscriber and fan.
Just got my CNC Router outfitted with PEN ATTACHMENT! Can draw ONE FOAM SHEET PLANS! When I heard Josh say "All our minis are one sheet builds..." I thought I NEED MORE FOAM BOARD!!! I'M GONNA BUILD THEM ALL!
I found this video one week ago, and I couldn´t resist make one... it's so simple and relaxing both in construction and in flight. Thank a lot to publish a video so inspiring. (BTW I made a couple of modification (no power pod) because scarce material here. 3d printed ww1 style wheels and light weight motor support an fusselgae reinforcement). Thanks again
Namaste, Its so nice to see you back, your family grow with the flitetest family. I recently started with the tiny trainer. Greatly love the contribution you guys have brought to the community. Really indebted to you all so that i could finally start with a long held dream. Big Thanks to you all.
I love flite test , from about 4 years I enjoy different planes I built ,Tiny trainer, racer ,simple soarer,..., I learn many from you especially Mr JOSH BIXLER , THANKS very much ....
Josh, I have been with you guys for a long time now. I have loved every step of your journey and someday hope to wear my Founder's hat in Ohio. Thank you for everything you do for the hobby and just reminding us that life is crazy and we need to find the joy everyday. Now I gotta go order a plane with the A power kit.
Keep up the great work Josh. This is actually quite refreshing. Love even seeing and hearing the family. Thanks for bringing us into your home and sharing memories there and FT nostalgia footage. :-)))
Very cool video indeed! I think I agree with much of the sentiment being posted here; very much reminds me of the old "Flite Test" from yesterday. Me and a friend actually built and flew a pair of 125% Scout....and they flew AWESOME! Keep up the great work, and stay healthy and safe my friends! From "Wildcat John" (you guys probably remember me from SEFF, 2014)...Wishing you all the best!
Josh, my favorite Plane is still my Mini Sportster!! 3 years old and still going great. Living in Arizona helps!! Thanks for sharing this. Stay SAFE Bro! Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Thank you for putting the video out I followed you from the beginning, and have Enjoyed every episode. When I get sick of the news I always turn guys on and watch you gets my mind out of the gutter and into the air.
This was our very first Flitetest build! My son and I absolutely love it! Actually, we have one that we haven't built yet... after watching this, perhaps we will this weekend! Thanks Josh! Hope you and the Flitetest family are all safe and well.
just bought some second hand electronics for my first diy build. Thank you so much for all your work, its a joy getting in to the hobby. Bless you all!
Great video Josh. Not really building anything new but taking this time on some older planes. Cleaning ones with 4-Stroke engines that haven't been flown in 20 years. Love you showing how your family's were and are still involved in Flite Test. This Old Man love you guys. ✈😎💗
Hi josh. I’ve built ft simple scout, ft 3D, ft simple cub all from scratch and purchased the ft bushwhacker love them all they offer what no other planes offer witch is carefree flying. If you crash one they are so easy to fix. Thanks for all you do for us including your efforts to stand up for us in the faa fight and the ability to fly carefree and no have to purchase and wait for parts. Stay safe my friend.
Josh, this is just what I needed! These last few months I’ve been trying to get out of the winter funk only to be slammed with Coronavirus leaving us all sheltering at home has left me completely unenthusiastic about flying. Heck, I even had to turn my RC workshop into my home office! But after watching this video makes me want to dust off the foam board, build up a mighty mini and hit the back yard! Thank you for always being an amazing inspiration. I hope you and your family, along with all the Flite Test families out there stay safe during these strange days.
Thank you so much Josh.... because of you and Flite Test we have fpv quads to fly at our house. We fly the toothpick style frames similar to the gremlins. Thank you for sharing this build... the boy and I had bought some foam board and should be making one of these to fly around the yard. So love FT!
Awesome build. and huge thumbs up for blowing the wing off the tree bird. ;-) Gotta lood up that episode. You could totally mount a potato cannon on one of the bigger planes. Bust out the tank again... after the team can get together again.
Love the opening clip. Great throwback to the old days. The pool cover landing was perfect--it wouldn't be Flite Test without a crash, followed by a joyful "It still flies!"
Hey Josh thank you for this video hope you and your family's safe. We pray that these difficult times are over soon. Wish to build My first plane soon.
I've been designing and building under 250 gram jets. So far I have flown an F7U cutlass, F-14 Tomcat, F-111 Aardvark, F4D Skyray. I wasn't expecting planes that small to fly that well. Just Awesome!
Cheers Josh, love watching you at work on these planes. Built a cub last year and still not flown it due to confidence 😔, going to build a mini scout and just taxi it on the lawn 😊. Best wishes to you , your family and all RC modellers worldwide. 🖐🖐 from England.
Ah the Scout. A few summers ago that was my go-to plane. With a 2205 and ailerons it could be quite maneuverable. I had mine stuffed with a flight controller and FPV gear. Flew that plane until it turned to mush. :D
Yep, I remember building 2 Mini Scout's when the design first came out, so about 6 years ago. Built one for me and one for my grown son. They were built with the black foamboard and I printed German insignia's for the wings and tail. Gave mine away to a young boy at FliteFest last year :-)
Mate, all I can say is thankyou. Over the years, flite test's videos have been great inspiration for my brothers and I (We're big fans), and its great to see that you carry on building and flying, even amongst all this havoc. Cheers from Australia, Hayden
Sweet, one of the videos I've seen from you in a LONG time. Miss Josh Scott and you working together. Just you and the camera (me)... Awesome!! Thank you so much for what you do for this hobby. Keep building & flying.
Love these plans Josh. Right now I am building the mini sportster. Great to take it on my bike to the field. Going to maiden it soon. Want to build the Scout too. Best to you all 👍 keep it up.
I’m brand new to the FT community and this video was super touching and informative. I just ordered a Simple Cub kit from the store and have nearly finished a scratch built mini mustang. (Waiting for electronics) thanks so much for all of this. I’m super excited to get into the hobby. And maybe even drag my kids into it as well. 😁
This has been a FANTASTIC walk down memory lane and was just a special video in general. Thank you sincerely for all you do for the community. Wishing you many more years of success!
Great Video, and the love between you, your Family, and Friends, shows where your inspiration comes from. Prayers for You and Yours - stay Safe and Healthy...
Man I wish I could be part of Flite test. I'd do it for free no worries so long as I could live. Even if I won a hundred million on the lottery, joining the Flite test company would still be my number one desire in life. I worked as a goldsmith for twenty some years before injuring my spine. 😔 Even through my pain and need for blummin best rest , I think I could contribute loads. Its just exactly what I always needed in life. Nice people, invention, experimentation and practice. I really hate lying here in my thirty year death bed. Even though I write and paint and draw, itd all mean so much more with other artists and something to work toward. Just watching Flite test cheers me right up! I strongly admire every one of them. I hope you guys realise how much your content is enjoyed and appreciated!
HI Josh. I just built the FT Simple Scout last week here in Malaysia. It was a lot of fun, I did add ailerons to that one, not yet painted. I've also built in the past the Simple Cub only 3 channel. Painted red, white and blue. It flies fine. I have the Explorer on my shelf yet to build and this week have just ordered the A-10 Warthog! Now if I was only allowed out to fly!
You guys got me into flying back in 2012! Built my own after watching some of videos and figured it out myself thanks to you guys! Thanks for all the goods times guys!
Literally just finished building my first speed build sea duck while watching this awesome video. My wife and I plan to maiden it tomorrow if the weather holds up. Thank you and your team for bringing this amazing hobby back into my life. You all are truly amazing and are such an inspiration to so many in these troubled times. Thank you again. P.S. hello from Pennsylvania
Felt very happy watching josh make use of quaratine and the entire video was so peaceful to watch...josh,the plane and his camera man..feels like a perfect crew to explore wonderland😍
Hi Josh. First of all i hope you, your family, your team and their family are safe and healthy. Second I would like to say that, being a long time FT viewer, I have missed the soothing sound of just you building airplanes. Not to give any of the other members less credit for their part in making this FT-fam what it is today ( they are doing an amazing job in expanding the hobby) but a big part of my experience in the hobby comes from sitting in the basement of my parents house building airplanes. This with your calm and soothing voice in the background. I would often curse and loose my temper when things went wrong while building, however this never lasted long when I was following a FT build video. Every single plane that left that basement was another learned lesson, either in life or in the hobby. long story short, thank you for learning me more than you intended to ;)
Y'all are the best! Thank you so much for continuing to make amazing content! It's been an absolute blessing having your videos to watch during this time of distancing. I wish all of you and your families many blessings and good health!!! Also the EZ Pack has been a blast!
This seems like old school flite test and I love it, I know things have changed but the run and gun, across the table look of this video is great. Also Josh Bixler, man you are the heart of this channel, the others are good but this is prime flite test.
I like the relaxed nature of this video. Seeing the old footage reminds me of the memories that my friends and I made back in 2016. Great video! I cant wait to see more of these!
Missed it when it came on.😪 I was working on my Baby Blender build.😁 Wrapped up now, painting then flying. Got my Spitfire kit in, will build her next, thank you for the content. Be well, stay safe! Love to the whole FT family!!
Even though I'm not building this plane, it is great to see your content and life sharing. So, now that everyone is having so much time on their hands with quarantine, how about some plans for the Master series Mustang and P-38 Lightning??? Just hopeful thinking with all this free time that many people have. Love you guys and all that you have been doing for the hobby. I'm praying for all of you to be safe and healthy.
Miss you guys to, I have recently bought the Simple Scout and all the electronics for it and gave it to a 13 year boy for him to build. I gave him the hot glue gun and sticks, and I told him if he had any questions go to RUclips and go to Flite Test there is a great teacher named Josh Bixler that would walk him through it.
I don’t know much about RC, but build miniatures and studio scale models/props, love the channel keep up the good work and spreading the word. I may email you when I build my RC R2D2 👍🏻 stay safe and keep the amazing videos coming 👍🏻
I always loved your videos, but some like this one are just inspirational and great! I just built an FT Explorer and in the next few days I will add the FT Spitfire - master series. Unfortunately, even if I live in a townhouse, I don't have enough space to flight them. Yet. But soon I will. Thank you Josh and thanks Flite Test! (Virtual) Hugs and good wishes from Italy!
I started doing that about 2 or 3 years ago and now I’m building 15 foot wide foam sailplanes and 4 foot tall triplanes! You will come a long way very quickly. Good luck!
Thank you so much for creating new content considering the difficulties. Even if you do have a basement LASER, it's fun to see what you can throw together and fly. I think I may need to order one of these.
Mini scout, my go to plane when I just want to chill out. I made mine out 3mm coreflute and it’s virtually indestructible, I have tried to stall it so many times but it’s impossible. I made it into a four channel with ultra light electronics and no landing gear. Brilliant little plane.
This was my first plane too. I got a kit from you guys and I too flew it until it melted mid flight. (RUD) Was so bad I had electrical tape going from each wing tip to the top and bottom of the fuselage to hold the wings in place. Didn't help when an entire wing detached. I swear it fell straight down faster than full throttle. Building a water proof Storch right now and waiting for batteries for a FT-22 mini (oops, I have the not mini power pack. should be fun). Thanks ^_^
Dang this almost seemed like yesterday! Good to see the scout still rocking it, I think that was my favorite simple design out of the mini series!
Hey peter how are you i love ur videos greetings from the uk 😁🇬🇧
Once this all passes over we need to get together and fly once and for all.
@@FliteTest Yes, like when Josh Scott, And David Windestal were in the squad
What is up peter. You should make a quarantine ultralight
Wish I could give multiple thumbs up
Speaking of nostalgic. This video is very reminiscent of the old school days of flight test.

Thanks ... This a prime time for families to get together and enjoy each other on a wonderful hobby and it's educational too!!!
Thanks again Josh for sharing your love of the hobby and allowing me to be part of it!

I think so, too! I made 5 of them and all of them flies really good!
Gotta say, this video is bringing me back to the early days. Wondering what all the other projects are gonna be!

Flite Test is by far the most wholesome channel out there.
I love the your idea of a back yard, Josh. Here in England a back yard is about 15 feet by 12. There barely enough room to 'fly' the washing.
Thank you so much Josh.... because of you and Flite Test we have fpv quads to fly at our house. We fly the toothpick style frames similar to the gremlins. Thank you for sharing this build... the boy and I had bought some foam board and should be making one of these to fly around the yard. So love FT!
Fantastic house and garden. No one, in the UK, has gardens that big. We're packed in like sardines!
Beautiful your family and friends. Nice people, nice hobby
Awesome build.
and huge thumbs up for blowing the wing off the tree bird. ;-)
Gotta lood up that episode. You could totally mount a potato cannon on one of the bigger planes.
Bust out the tank again... after the team can get together again.
Thank you Josh (and your family and everyone at FliteTest) for always inspiring us, and sharing fun and laughter with us. We love you all.
Love the opening clip. Great throwback to the old days. The pool cover landing was perfect--it wouldn't be Flite Test without a crash, followed by a joyful "It still flies!"
The editing work on this is phenomenal! I love all the short flashbacks

Man I wish I could be part of Flite test. I'd do it for free no worries so long as I could live. Building this plane right now. Great deal and lots a fun.
Those plans are my favorite. There cheap and fun
Great stuff! What a nice throwback. Time to order some foam board 😊
I miss these old style vids, two people having fun, building and flying.
Oh ma gawd Josh is so gosh darn wholesome
Nicely done! I appreciate your attitude while you work. Blessings, Bob

Fun and well done. Stay safe. Thanks
I don’t know much about RC, but build miniatures and studio scale models/props, love the channel keep up the good work and spreading the word. I may email you when I build my RC R2D2 👍🏻 stay safe and keep the amazing videos coming 👍🏻
Hearing David's swedish accent sure brought back memories.
Dave was way smarter than the flight test guys
I always loved your videos, but some like this one are just inspirational and great!
I just built an FT Explorer and in the next few days I will add the FT Spitfire - master series.
Unfortunately, even if I live in a townhouse, I don't have enough space to flight them. Yet.
But soon I will.
Thank you Josh and thanks Flite Test!
(Virtual) Hugs and good wishes from Italy!
Loved this vid. Thank you for sharing it with us. 😎👍
I've bought some foam board and glue sticks from the doller tree and am trying some of my own glider designs
Awesome!
I started doing that about 2 or 3 years ago and now I’m building 15 foot wide foam sailplanes and 4 foot tall triplanes! You will come a long way very quickly. Good luck!
This really brings it back. Great video, Josh just seems so happy and positive!
Thank you so much for creating new content considering the difficulties. Even if you do have a basement LASER, it's fun to see what you can throw together and fly. I think I may need to order one of these.
I love your RUclips videos I just wish I had more things to fly thanks for providing these wonderful videos!!
Great video guys. Loved the album photos too. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
So good Josh, awesome job!
Mini scout, my go to plane when I just want to chill out.
I made mine out 3mm coreflute and it’s virtually indestructible, I have tried to stall it so many times but it’s impossible. I made it into a four channel with ultra light electronics and no landing gear.
Brilliant little plane.
Never built one of the minis but I guess now is a great time thanks!
This video felt like sitting down with an old friend. I loved it.
love your show Josh. Will you guys someday fly a futuristic plane with jet engines?
Wow, this video really was a long trip down memory lane.
You too, Josh. Thanks for this simple trip down memory lane.
I
The old original theme music.... brings me back to building my FT tricopter, the start of my flight test adventure
Hey don't mind a toilet sound here 🤭flush away🙃 and keep the videos coming😁thanks for sharing Josh😎
deal:)
Best. Quarantine Content. Ever. 😎👍
Josh is the Bob Ross of model aviation!
Thanks ^_^
