Oh lord, tell me about it. Ever since the children left my house is not a home. My daughter has just married a woman and I am trying my best dear lord to have patience and compassion for their choices. My son came out as gay in 2002 and shacked up with a gentleman who he now runs a restaurant with. Each Friday night he wears a wig and sings to the customers. My husband saw him do this and ripped that wig off and threw it into the street. It was awful. Anyway, two gay children and no chance of grandchildren. This recipe really was delicious. Glad you enjoyed it. My husband threatened to throw the cake over my son and his partner if he sees them dressing that way again. I tried to tell him it was just a performance and just for fun but I feel very much in the middle

Thanks for this recipe! I can’t cook for two, I have thrown out so much food. It goes in the containers with the red lids, and sits in the fridge for a couple days and we eat it again for leftovers ( I’m so great full for my “eat everything” husband. Then put it back, most times in the same container still sitting on the counter since meal prep. When it gets shoved to the back of the fridge for several more days it will get thrown out! If it is too old the container goes also. My poor Mom would be doing flip flops in the grave to see my wastefulness. She lived through the depression with her aunt and 8 younger cousins. My Mom said she would smack hour hand if you licked the stirring spoon. Every drop was precious with 8 + children to feed. Thanks for recipe, it’s the best cake to cook in the summer cause even here in Pennsylvania cakes take a long time to cool.

There's only me in my house, but I still make full sized things. I divide what I made, say a full size Texas Sheetcake into 4 sections, then put the full cake in it's pan in the freezer just long enough for it to get hard. Wrap each section individually in saran wrap and a plastic freezer bag. Then put the sections back in the freezer for later. That way you have made 4 "cakes" in the time it takes to make just one! Like the old saying goes, "Work smarter, not harder!"🥰

Yes, please, a new series on cooking for 2 people would be great ❤
Especially with our economy causing everything to go up weekly .
I used to just make big roasts or other yummy meals , but with prices , I've started just making what we have .
Even our meat I break up and freeze just enough for me & my husband.
I will take 4 pounds of hambuger and instead of splitting up into 1 pound packages , I now use 3/4 pound - so when I'm done, I end up with (5 ) 3/4 pounds of hamburger meat .
I've started saving more money & making more meals .
I love my grandmother who lived through the depression and my dad raised me and taught me how to garden , can meals, fish, sew etc...
I then taught my children how to still live a beautiful life but not above their means .

This is good looking! Glad you are talking of doing recipes for two. It’s difficult after cooking for a family to know how to downsize foods!

Hi Miss Lori and Mr. Brown!! I thank you for these recipes for 2. My sweet hubby passed October 4, 2021, so it’s been just me and once in a while my mother. I love your videos and knowing that y’all love the Lord as much as I do. I also love watching you two in the kitchen together, and keep on dancing Mr. Brown!! You two are awesome!!❤️🙏🏻

Yeppers, cooking for just 2 is hard. I have to cut up a cake and freeze it to not have waste. Been eating the same lemon cake for almost a month now!
    Be blessed 🙏

I’d appreciate more recipes for main dishes, sides, desserts for 2! We eat leftovers and enjoy those so when I make a regular menu item, we freeze some in a portion for future meal. We would like to see some other smaller quantity items.Thx. Susan

Made this recipe today and it turned out great and tastes so good! It’s a perfect size for me and my husband and have some leftovers for another day but not an abundance of the dessert that we just can’t eat it all. Delicious, easy to make, and perfect for two. Will definitely make this again - it really satisfied my husbands chocolate craving! Thank you!

This is a family favorite. I add 1/4 tsp. Cinnamom to the batter. I also poke more holes in the cake so the icing melts into it. Yummy stuff here in Texas.

Miss Lori I am a empty nester but, I take in homeless kids and teach them the stuff to survive on their own. I don't know if I will ever have to cook just for 2. Right now I have 5 with me and I just enjoy teaching them and giving them direction on how to live and survive in the world.

Quite possibly the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made in my entire life of 69 years.
I made one tiny change by adding a pinch of salt to the icing ingredients. It makes a huge difference with cooked icing. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!

I grew up on homemade Chocolate cake n Homemade Chocolate Iceing! My Mama n Grandmaws never used box mixes or can frostings. Everything was made from scratch! Here in the mtns of Georgia, there's all kinds of old recipes that somebody's Granny or Aunt, or Mama just threw together and they turned out to be some of the best food or dessert you could eat. I wish I could cook n bake like i used to. I get so hungry for good old home cooking. I'm gonna have to get one of my Granddaughters or daughter in law to make this for me. I'm just no able anymore! Thank you Miss Lori. Mr Brown had Happy deer didn't he? Lol. I love y'all... God Bless 🙏❤

Miss Lori, we have been empty nesters for nearly 10 years but I still cook for an army. Actually, I am doing a little bit better, but it's really hard to change how you cook. I'd love to hear more of your down-sized recipes. Thanks so much.
