I know I'm a bit late, But the way that the Jackknife brake works may be an explanation for why Sawaki crashed. He may have overdone it or have entered too fast and then tried to power-over, smashing into the barrier. It's an interesting brake, and an even more interesting form of canon explanation/theory generator.
