Firebending, one of the four elemental bending arts, is the pyrokinetic ability to control fire. It is unique among the bending arts, as it is the only one in which the performer can generate the element. Firebending is known for its intense and aggressive attacking style and general lack of adequate defensive moves, although firebenders can modify offensive maneuvers to function as a defense, such as creating large walls of fire or shooting down incoming attacks with fire jabs.

For those who are curious, the move Mako is doing in the thumbnail is a breakdancing move called the flare; it's also a move in gymnastics where it's called the flair or the Thomas flair

@@mitchellroussey4914 fair point, however, in lightning bending there are several technics, eg, lightning bolt, strike, spear and redirection, but with blood bending there isn't too many technices if any but one, control ppl/animals, yes u can make them do many things but it more or less the same

I just realized firebenders probably got rid of air nomads not only because of the avatar cycle, but also because of all the elements it's the only one that could consistently counter fire by just blowing it back at them. If you block with water, it becomes steam and would still give firebenders a split second chance to strike the opening. And earth could be worn down. Both elements rely on a already existing source. I don't know, just something I realized.

There's another hability, that i think could be incredibly powerful if used at full potential; in the flashback of sozin and roku against the volcano, sozin manages to take literal heat of the lava and throw it away, cooling it and making it turn into rock again, interestingly using a pose very similar to iroh's lighting redirection technique.
If what he did was really taking the thermal energy of something and taking it away, it technically could be use to freeze people or killing them by hipothermia by taking all the "heat" in them.
Please correct me if i'm wrong cuz i've been thinking about it for a long time, and i don't know if going deeper on research or just leave it away xD

Since Air and Firebending can basically do the same exact moves, Firebending could also be used in a defensive manner (Possibly even more than Water and Earth) Airbending and Firebending are the exact same thing's just replaced with different elements. Ex. Zaheer is an Airbender but Airbends as if he's bending Fire.

You forgot to mention that Mako and Korra used jet propulsions to get a plane to fly and Mako using it to boost the speed of a bike.
We also saw Korra use the fire wheel as well.. Though a much smaller one than Azula.
Love that you guys include clips from LOK with these too! I know the show isnt as well recieved as ATLA but I do think that a fact many can agree on is that the bending seemed faster and more fluid as well as still being super fun to watch!

I don't think it could heal as much as it could diagnose. It can say what's wrong with a person's chi, but it lacked the ability to correct the issue as needed.
The Shaman did not heal Korra physically, her fire was used to scan Korra'a chi paths.
They should have showed it Fire is energy and life so something should be possible

fire benders can also manipulate friction as seen in the episode where the drill was about invade Ba Sing Se both Azula and Aang fell off the sides while Aang use air bending to stop him from falling of, Azula used her feet to create a high friction to stop her self from falling.
the element cycle is perfect after bigbang only energy existed which can be relatable to fire.when the energy cooled down they became a kind of gaseous substance like air , by further cooling they became liquid like water and later they turned in to solid much like earth. hence the cycle : fire(energy),air(gaseous),water(liquid) and earth(solid)

Everyone talks about how azula is the prodigy and she is awesome yes but only just now do I realise zuko is prett awesome too! He can do almost all of the things azula can and he can perform some of the most advanced techniques. He is great too and never really gets credit for it. Especially after the dragon dance he became better and in my opinion equal to azula in ability.

The animators made her flames blue cause when she was fighting with another fire bender the got mixed in together and it was confusing
In real life blue fire is the hottest which makes sense for her because she's a prodigy and a perfectionist.

Firebending is my favorite but i think realistically i would be a waterbender or non bender if i was in avatar universe. Im african american and native american more and that fits more into the water tribes vibe.
Fire bending is really cool cause it’s the only element that the bender creates. Water benders, earth benders, and possibly air benders, all need to be near a source of their element.

One ability that was missed was heat redirection such as when Roku and his firelord friend (forgot the name) were trying to stop the volcano. The fire lord was the one moving the heat away from the volcano
