jorge vecino castro I understand that it might seem stupid, but that's only if we don't distinguish between appropriation and appreciation. Appropriation is using, often for your own gain or entertainment, part of a culture in a different way to its original meaning, which is disrespectful. Like wearing a Native American headdress at a music festival despite its sacred origins, or dressing up in a hijab for a Halloween costume. Appreciation is giving it the same meaning and learning about it in the same way as those who are from the culture (or, for my second example, religion) that it belongs to. There are examples where white people think we are appreciating rather than appropriating, but that's only because we stay wilfully ignorant to the voices saying we're using something differently to its meaning in the culture that it's from.
@Andre Calvit He's right, this shouldn't stir up any conversation. Just like how most music genres have black roots: rock and roll and country music. You don't see black people talk about cultural appropriation. This just shows how rife racism is in 2020, so disappointing.

Those people who posted negative comments are ignorant and should be ashamed of themselves . For starters, Irish dance, seems to have a lot in common with tap dance and when I watch Riverdance, the message that I get from the show, is that music and dance helps to bridge the divide between ALL cultures because these are forms of communication that we all understand, regardless of our heritage. I'm a 59 year old black woman who trained, along with my older sister, in ballet when we were youngsters. Musically, I love Rock music as well as Jazz and Celtic. I would love to learn Irish Dance ; especially after seeing a documentary about over 50's dancers in competition. The haters have never seen Riverdance because there ARE black dancers in that show but I would love see them in the title dance. It would be great to see black, asian, Hispanic and dancers of ALL ethnicities join in. In the Riverdance finale, that is exactly what they do. And by the way, many may not know this, but in Lord of the Dance, Michael Flatley selected an Asian dancer, so the rest of you, stop hating and be happy for this young lady. God bless her !!!🤗🥰

she loves dancing and she good at it ..love ya from australia
You promote this but wouldn't dare promote an Irish girl interested in Adumu, kpanlogo, mohobelo etc. We can see your agenda clearly.
Glad you pointed it out. It's the media and lazy journalism that is the problem.
I'm so here for this!!! I've always loved to watch this dance style!!!
God bless her !!!🤗🥰
Culture appropriation????
@Arfur Fuxxakes why not?
Vanessa, enjoy your rock and roll. jazz, funk, soul.... Need I go on?
@Arfur Fuxxakes people who have corn rows and dreadlocks don't do it out of ignorance, well a lot don't. Agreed some do unfortunately. I'm so tired of races hating each other.
@@editor4578 I will thanks and appreciate the history and culture behind it xxx
@@vanessawinter6018 your name is english, a lot of food that you eat and music you listen is not english. You are also doing cultural appropriation.
Unique in her own style and form this world need more people like that!
*CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!*
@charles THAT'S WHY THE ROMANS ONLY USED CAPITALS.
Now she is a part of RiverDance, she said " I discovered Riverdance by finding the original 1994 Eurovision performance on *RUclips* ."
Wow !! You have amazing skill. I hope and pray that you keep on Irish dancing forever !!!!
I love this. We live in a world that is more connected. Let people appreciate other cultures. Like that those cultures will live forever.
I love you and your story I pray you never let society tell you who you are!

Dance dance dance freely! You honor the Irish culture. Enjoy what you love Star 🌟
You go, Morgan! I’m all Black Irish and my nieces are all dark skinned Irish African Americans. You make Irish dance look great!! Thanks
I’m sorry, but I didn’t mean all- I meant 6 or my nieces are Black Irish Americans. Please keep dancing!
There's a lot of black Irish, a lot of Jamaica and Barbados for example.
She just has something extra, creativity and mixing it with hiphop, brilliant! I remember those Irish dance academies as a child being rigid old conservative places. Thank God those days are over and she broke the mould.
Wow, she’s incredibly good!
