Since the legalization of same-sex marriage, statistics have been kept regarding violence in same-sex marriages. The amount of violence in female/female marriages far outpaced the amount of violence in male/female marriages. In male/male marriages the amount of domestic violence is very low. It appears that women are much more violent in relationships than men.

Do you guys in the comments agree with what that first school is doing? As a gay man myself, when I was a kid I wished people would stop telling me what activities I should like and do based on my gender. But that seems to me exactly what these Icelandic teachers are doing… why can’t they just let kids decide for themselves if they want to play log or brush hair…? Like its weird people focus so much on "we need to acknowledge we are different" like nobody is going around saying we need ti verbally state how different gay and straight relationships are. Because they're not that different and it's weird, it's almost like you're trying to focus still on rhe minor differences even in discussions of basic equality. We don't need to break things down by gender. We can just break things down by the fact of people are difference. Men can be different from other men. Women can be different from other women. It's weird to assume you have more in common with a random man from Africa than a woman from your own country. Our major differences are not gender based

They can have their either mother or father's name now as a prefix to dóttir or son, it is the same for men and women. I think this change came about through the efforts of women's rights movements. Most happy to be corrected by Icelanders if needed

In the same way that most of the rest of the world is equally sad for the girls...
The rest of the world doesn't try to change because it's still run by men, and men are quite happy on top. At least Iceland is doing something to change that and create more equality. I think they'll see benefits in years to come - less violence and crime, more care for the underprivileged (homeless etc), more care for our environment (any care would be good!), a more equal sharing of the global wealth that is mostly and increasingly held by a very few men!!!. Women with a global voice would help these issues, that men say are unfixable. We need women to have more say in this world on a global level, otherwise many of the really bad trends that have been worsening over the last several decades will continue to get worse , run by only a handful of men, until there's nothing left worth having or living for. Research provides proof that women, given the chance to make a difference in their lives, make those kinds of changes far FAR, FAAAAR better than men. And for that, we need a gender equal society, and I would argue that that needs to happen very quickly now because we are running out of time.
