One advantage of the X Series that gets scant attention is the ease of racking the slide. My wife loves her M&P 9c and shoots it extremely well, but she can't for the life of her rack the slide. We rented the XCompact yesterday. She shot it even better than the 9c and she could rack the slide. I expect her to buy herself a late Christmas present later this week.

These are built to be modular. You can buy either a full size or compact grip for either. As you demonstrated the slide fits on either. The only thing you really need to do is figure out which slide you want and you can then have BOTH guns by swapping the trigger group from 1 to the other.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  5 лет назад +2

The slide site too short on the carry module unfortunately. The Carry slide does work on the compact though. Thank you and cheers!

@@KSGunGuy01 sorry. My point was they are modular. If you buy 1 of them they offer different grip frames to go with that slide. You can get a full size grip or the carry grip with a compact slide.

Just purchased the X-Compact. The first 5 rounds out of the box were dead center. Felt great in my hands. The trigger is fantastic and has a short, crisp reset. The trigger weighed in at just under 4 pounds. My M18 weighs just over 6 pounds. My X-Compact has the upgrade which all newer models have from the factory. It is now replacing what was my most favorite carry gun, the H&K VP9SK. Don't get me wrong because I still love the H&K. I like to have more than one option. Also, if you hold the gun correctly your thumb will not be touching the slide stop release button. BTW, great video, thanks.

I have 9- p320/p365's. I like the P320 XCompact the best it feels a little better balanced, probably because the carry slide is 4/10's of a inch longer and a little front heavy. Not a massive difference but enough that I can tell. It isn't a game changer at all, just picking on some things, if I didn't have the X Compact the Carry would be just fine. You make a lot of good videos, keep them coming!
Another video you might make is the new Walther PDP vs Walther PDP F Series.

I was just reviewing these two at my local Gunsmiths last week. After deliberation if a few weeks I have finally parted with my beloved P365 and exchanged for the X Carry.

As much as I love the 365, I think you made a good choice. The 320 fills more of a "do it all" role than the 365. Plus, if you wanted to, you could spend 40-60 dollars and buy the "compact" size grip for the 320 and then with a simple switch, you'll have an even more compact carry gun. You'll just have to buy a 15 round magazine.

Had the opportunity to handle the The X-Compact at my local shop on 2 separate occasions (different ones for those wondering), and the trigger issues you mentioned on your initial vid were present on both: longer than expected creep on the break, and a much longer reset than expected.
Having owned an X-Carry, I expected the same break and reset. However, I feel like the trigger is the same as a standard 320 with a flat-faced shoe. It almost feels luke I need to buy a X-Carry and wait for the X-Compact grip modules to be available, or wait another 3-6 months for Sig to address the trigger. Other than that, the grip module fit perfectly in my hands and I was impressed with it. But I'd be lying if I said the trigger had me second guessing a purchase, and going back to an X-carry.
TLDR: Trigger is questionable imo. I suggest an X-Carry and wait for an X-Compact grip module to swap out.

I'm pretty much Ruger, but in my younger years, so very many years ago, I was pretty much Remington, but I also liked Mossberg; what can I say, I took after my dad who only trusted American. I don't recall where I found you, I think I saw KS and decided that I, as a fellow Kansan, even though I'm hurtling towards #70, might learn something from you. I think the reason I like Ruger was that, after I was disabled in 2003, and quit daily carrying my trusty old H&R Model 929 nine shot 22LR revolver with a 6 inch barrel, and then was assaulted in 2009 by a couple of punks, I had gone to Cabela's in Wichita to buy a couple of carry pistols. I liked the look, size, and feel of the LC9, so I bought two ... and one LCP. Later, I decided that I wanted something a little different. The only complaint I had about the LCP and LC9's was that the trigger pull was kind of long, so I bought two Ruger SR9Cs ... and an SR9.
Now you need to understand that that I was raised on a farm and after graduating Kansas State, along with my wife, we settled in Great Bend, where she taught Jr. High math and I worked in radio. We never liked living in the "city," so when her granddad had to be placed in a nursing home, her dad, who also lived on his granddad's homestead on the Santa Fe Trail, was stewing over what he should do with his dad's house. The house was approaching 100 years old and was last remodeled in 1916. The roof was due to be replaced, the plumbing was mostly iron pipe, there were two floor furnaces and a wall heater on the main floor and nothing upstairs, there were seven (7) fused electrical circuits ... and one unfused circuit with NO shut-off, and had so many layers of peeling wallpaper. My wife and I never liked living in town, so we talked it over and decided to ask her dad if we could buy her granddad's house. He was shocked and, at the same time, relieved that we wanted to live there, but my wife wanted to make sure I was okay with living only about 100 feet from her parents. After three years of hard work the house was remodeled enough for us to move in on the main floor while we finished the upstairs. We moved in in 1976 and that fall I rented some farm ground and started farming. Two years later her uncle died and his widow wanted us to buy their farm.
So you can see that money was pretty tight, but we were living on a farm and were farmers. We had an overabundance of rabbits at the time because the coyote hunters had done a bang-up job of thinning the coyotes ... a little too thin to me. I had received a Remington Nylon 12 bolt action rifle for Christmas in 1963, and that was my only weapon, but I couldn't see carrying it with me on my tractor, so I decided I would buy a rifle with a wood stock, but I ended up with a H&R Model 929 nine shot 22LR revolver with a 6 inch barrel and a great Hunter holster for 79 bucks. I wore my revolver on my hip all of the time, especially when I was working ground on my old John Deere 3010 tractor, without a cab, and I would shoot rabbits on the run with my trusty pistol, then my three legged Beagle would pick them up and carry them home to bury until they were ripe. Rascal could catch them for himself, but he never turned down one that I shot. I got good at shooting, especially because when I was frustrated, upset, or angry, which seemed to be often, I would head out to the big trash pile on our farm and I would shoot bottles and cans until I felt better. I got real good point shooting. I was shooting rabbits on the run while still running the tractor down the field, and I could usually hit them on the first shot. I loved watching them crumple up and roll when they were hit.
I quit wearing my pistol all the time after I was disabled and I doubt that the punks would have bothered me in 2009 if I had had my pistol on my hip. Lesson learned and that was when I bought my first two handguns for personal defense. I carried concealed after that, but I didn't get a Concealed Carry Permit until after Kansas passed Constitutional Carry. I only got it then because I ride down past OKC with a son-in-law fairly frequently and I wanted to make sure I was legal in Oklahoma.
So now you know too damn much about me, but at least you will know where I'm coming from. Also, since I was assaulted I haven't been able to stop buying guns. It's not a voluntary thing. I can go for several months and suddenly I'll see a gun and I see a need. My wife says that I hoard guns like she hoards fabric ... and she has a LOT of fabric, but I think I might have more guns. I've lost count. My youngest granddaughter came in today, jumped on my lap while I was in my recliner, and told me that I have too many guns and she was going to take them. I told her that she couldn't because when I kick the bucket her daddy would get a fourth of them ... each kid gets a fourth. Some of my guns are very special to me and I hope I can get them all together sometime so I can tell them about them, like the Remington Model 11 shotgun, manufactured in September 1926, that my Okie Grandpa Adams sold to me in 1980 because he had heart trouble and needed the money, but he always wanted me to have it because he knew that I loved hunting pheasant. He didn't know that Kansas finally had deer and a deer season and he sold his deer rifle to a friend. Anyway, his dad gave him that shotgun brand new in 1926 and it was one of the few things saved when his house burned to the ground in the early 1950's. I think, from the looks of it, that he kept it in his pickup, but I know that he used the heck out of it because the blue is completely gone from the barrel and there are only a few spots on the stock that still have a hint of finish. He was a tall man, but he had cut an inch off of the stock that I had to add back on. I miss that old man.
Anyway, I've rattled on long enough. Take care of yourself, especially your back and knees. Let me know if you want to come out for opening weekend of pheasant season. My youngest brother comes in from Virginia with some friends and some of my kids come home then, too. I don't get out to walk the fields, though I dearly wish I could, but I do sometimes block the end of the shelterbelts and tree rows. Till then, keep your barrel clean.

I shoot it accurately but he doesn’t seem to be able to consistently. He has a skin condition so his grip is a bit awkward. Handed the 365xl and he was money every time. Better than me. It’s crazy how much a grip make that much a difference. Great stuff. Sig just sold a Glock guy with the 365xl. I’m anxious to try the 320xc but I really want it with 4 inch barrel.

@@bryanrainey4756 it might also be the Glock grip angle. My girlfriend had the same issue with a Glock 19 but it wasn't way left (slightly upper left). Got her to try a Beretta APX, M&P 2.0, CZ P07, Hellcat, and P365 and she's been so accurate with those. Didn't have as much luck with a P320 because she isn't used to the recoil impulse from pistols with a higher bore axis, but for most part getting away from the Glock grip angle helped her.

While I haven’t held/Shot the compact, I’ve found that grip difference found on the regular X Carry has helped me not ride the slide stop. I only ever hear this with plastic guns, but it's an extremely common issue with those who use an aggressive high thumbs forward grip on Glock-style pistols like 320's, M&P's, p10's, etc. It's why I sold my Walther PPQ and probably the main reason that gun hasn't gotten much traction. Switched to a Glock and stopped getting the problem. M&P's don't do it to me either, but VP9's and Walthers do. It's also not a sign of incompetence, it's a sign of using a high thumbs forward grip like a competition shooter does. In fact that's where I learned all this stuff and those people tend to be the ones who complain about it the most. And I do believe that USPSA GM's are among the best pistol shooters in the world. I don't know how you could spend any amount of time in the pistol shooting world and not have heard someone mention this issue before.

@@kyleaversa1106 Your thumbs are high for recoil control. It happens to some people and not others based on hand size and grip style. That being said, I've never had it happen on a P320 and rarely on an M&P. Glocks with extended slide stops do it to me, and Walthers are the worst offenders. Others have a different experience based on their hand size.

The X-series grip frames are better than the original grip frames, to me. The X-Carry is similar to the G19X aesthetic... the X-Compact is more like if Glock did a G26X(26 slide on a 19 frame). I prefer the X-Carry.

Never cared enough about the P320 line until they introduced the X-series grip design and trigger. Those two changes make it a feel like a totally different gun (which it basically is when you change the entire design of the grip/frame). The original 320’s just never did it for me. Once I got to mess with a couple of the X models I ended up buying an X-Carry.
My only complaint is the way they did the optic cut. That’s one thing I make sure to mention to anyone if they’re interested in a 320. The X-series is the one to get; but don’t count on the optic cut as a “feature”. The whole thing sss handles poorly in my opinion. I don’t get why they decided to have the rear irons come off with the cover plate. IMO, any gun being used for a serious task (concealed carry, carrying for work, etc) should have the capability of co-witnessing the irons with the red dot optic; especially when you consider the optic options for Sig’s optic cut. No plate or option to mount a Trijicon RMR from the factory? The DeltaPoint is a decent option but I didn’t think my X-Carry was set up for it; only the X-Compacts and M17’s. Sig’s optics just aren’t up to snuff just yet from what I’ve seen first-hand and according to my go-to sources. I find it kind of shitty of them to sell these guns with their own optic cut in an attempt to get people to buy their sub-par products. Any optic-cut handgun from the factory should have the ability to mount a wide variety of options that are available. Of course that’s just my opinion.
FN got it nearly perfect with their optic mounting solution. Having your slide cut specifically for your optic of choice is still the best route to go; but FN’s system on their 509 Tactical is pretty awesome. Everything you need to mount your optic or choice is included with the gun from the get-go; AND they’re the only ones that include suppressor-height irons that allow you to cowitness whatever optic you use (which could have simply been because the Tactical includes a threaded barrel, they may not have done it specifically for cowitnessing capabilities).

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on "upgrading" a P320 RX with an "X" grip module and the Sig P320 Flat trigger to see how that might stack-up to the X Compact / X Carry.

This video was super helpful to me, thank you. I had not held either, but based on this video I was leaning towards the XCompact. My Glock 17 is a bit large for my hands, so want to swap it. Called a gun shop yesterday and they told me they had the XCompact in stock, so I drove 40 minutes to check it out. When I held it, it didn't feel as small as I was expecting and I was disappointed. After 10 minutes of playing with it I noticed that the mag inside had a 17 capacity marking. I told the shop employee that didn't make sense to me because the XCompact mag has 15. He said 'huh' and scratched his head. I got on Sig's website on my phone and showed him the specs. Turns out he was showing me an XCarry and didn't know it. They didn't have the XCompact in stock after all. Luckily there was another gun shop 10 minutes away who said they had it when I called from this shop. I drove to the new shop which was much nicer and their inventory was on the walls and clearly marked. I then held the XCompact and it was perfect for my hand. Those 3 and 3.5 mm grip length differences feel quite different in the hand. I have decided I will buy the XCompact as soon as I sell my G17, which I'm listing for sale today. Thanks again for your video as it was exactly the info I needed. Beware of shop employees that lack knowledge and educate yourself before purchasing anything. FYI folks, I have the p365 and just ordered a SAS slide directly from Sig which arrives in 2 days. It's different from the slide that comes the p365 SAS gun in that it is not vented, so it'll go with the non-vented barrel in the standard p365. I don't like the vents on the SAS gun or the screwdriver operated take down slide, so a great alternative for me.

I bought that same SAS slide for my 365 too. Don't know if you've noticed, but with that slide the striker drag is virtually gone.

Another great video. X carry professional is what you seek. I like the X compact frame for my RX compact slide. Wish they would come out with that.

Just have to wait for the xcompact frame module then you'll have what you are looking for. $70 tops

Right on Andrew! I agree with Bloodysoup about the module. Hopefully it will be out soon. Thank you and cheers!

That slide lock is a problem when shooting. Slide will lock open with rounds still on the mag if you have a tight high grip which I have. I will stick with the Xcarry until Sig tightens up the slide lock to the frame. I know several people that have encountered this problem as well.

Adjust your grip a little? Thank you and cheers!
