Neither my x compact nor my full size p320 have gone off unexpectedly during the last 2 years I've been carrying them but I have heard of a handful that have.
I have had my P320 M-18 for about half a year... most accurate pistol I own. And I have only put adjustable rear sight on it. Thousands of rounds threw never had a jam
I had my eye on the X-Compact from the time it was released. My only hang up was the rear sight attached to the optics plate. Then my local Sig shop told me about the Pro version. I went from tentative to sold.
I have the original 320 medium compact released in 2014', an x compact, x carry and the M18...the M18 has the same dimensions as the initial release 320 medium compact and the X Carry. (Which I do believe has been discontinued by Sig.) My personal favorite is the x compact.
I have both guns. I shoot left handed. The Xcompact is great out of the box. No complaining there. The M18 however. I switched out the stock M18 grip for the Wilson combat module immediately. I have small hands for a dude, so the switch made WAY more ergonomic for me. Threw on a chpws plate for a rmr on that bad boi and a x300uB, I'm good to go.
As a SA in the Army we are issued the M18. The grip is different than my personal P320, the trigger guard is too fat for my taste. After a few minutes of shooting it rubs my shooting hand middle finger, it's not fun to shoot. My personal P320 doesn't give me this problem nor do Glocks. It may just be me as I haven't heard anyone else complain about this specific issue. The two extended magazines are nice on the range but are not great for concealed carry. The weight doesn't bother me (a lot of guys don't like it) but they are too long and the sharp corners digging into my side gets old pretty fast. I would rather they gave use three standard mags. That being said, it has been reliable, nice trigger, very accurate, and the safety is no problem (this is the biggest complaint among Army guys).
I got the M18 for the external safety because of the AD/ND issues with the P320. I added a Romeo 0 Pro & shroud as well as the Wilson Combat grip. I was surprised that the 0 is larger than the 1.
Odd question but do you notice any excessive carbon clouding on your red dot due to the LCI of the M18? I just got an M18 and installed an RMR on it. Haven't shot it yet but have seen elsewhere this is a complaint that the glass gets super dirty quickly because of the LCI (loaded chamber indicator slot). Also, Is there any harm in removing it to run a threaded barrel? -- Thank you
I have a m18 that I carry, but it doesn't always conceal that easy for me so my back up carry pistol is the hellcat. When I can conceal my m18 I have my hellcat on me too as a back up. But sometimes I have to just carry my hellcat
So the x carry isn't a thing? It is literally the same size as the m18. And capasity isn't a question they are both 9mm and the compact can easily take larger mags Making that a useless argument. You can literally put the compact grip module on the m18 if you wanted.
I do security 👮🏻♂️. I may snag a M18 9x19mm later this year. I like the manual safety choice but would prefer a black color. I might switch a M18 to the new Wilson Combat P320 frame if it comes in OD, green. The 2 tone look would be nice.
I picked the m18 for the size, safety and capacity. I can also change to a sub compact mod with a 12 round mag if I want it to disappear while carrying
