#1 TIP!!!! Do NOT accept worthless rides. Don't chase the titles of Gold, Platnium for the tiny little worthless perks. I only accept rides that are $20 or more and they have meet the criteria of not taking me off into no mans land where I wont get another ride and they have to at the very very least pay $1 a mile or more. I'll reject 10 rides to get that one.
@Gloria Lynn it's regional, in competitive markets. I live in Austin, TX, and we see the price we will be paid and distance to pickup and distance the ride is.
@@scottgogo it’s not a competitive thing it’s rideshare laws that vary by state. I’m in Texas too. New Jersey is a competitor market but they can’t see the info we do.

I did the same... was in Tech Software sales. I really enjoy driving for Uber and Lyft. I've been able to steadly make between $300 and $500 a day. Mostly $300. Uber Comfort and Lyft Lux are a great help in achieving my goals.
If you are financing your car then you can write off the interest you are paying on the car as well. I do it every year. You log onto the website you make your payments to and go to payment history and you will see the interest you pay every month for the year before. It helps.

Thanks for sharing. The tips you gave are great because they are totally from a business standpoint and uber knows that many of their drivers don't take the time to breakdown the money they earn. I will definitely take this vid very serious when I start my uber driver account.
I stop a few feet before arriving and slide arrived in the app. That way I can tell where they are going. If it is somewhere too far away, I can cancel the trip and drive off before they ever get in the car. It also stops them from being able to rate you. Hate to have to do all of this, but Uber could easily solve this stuff.
Why would anybody buy a new or expensive car's You're passengers don't deserve a new car Uber and Lyft needs to tell driver's the drop off point because when you pull up and don't want to take your passenger that causes an unwanted confrontation. Our rider's think or assume you know where you are going to.
Driving for Lyft I found that I made more money driving only when there were bonuses available. I also noticed I get fewer bonuses. I see this as a way for Lyft to let me go and I’m ok with that. Rating 5.0, 3 years and 3800 rides later.

Excellent video. I started doing my stuff right from day one. I got a car for ride share work so I can drive it silly and I document everything and over tax my pay so I dont have to worry.
Uber is a completely unprofessional and corrupt company to work with. At various times, I started noticing that I would arbitrarily stop getting trips even when the app said I was in a busy area, which made me lose a lot of income. I had my home city arbitrarily changed as to keep me from getting the bonuses for that city, and to make me lose income. And it takes 2 weeks to change your city back. I had my account turned off arbitrarily telling me that I needed a background check even though I’d had one last month. I had riders reporting me for things I’d never done. If all that excites you, Uber is the place for you to drive.
I used to get the "please take a photo of yourself to confirm it's you" in the middle of my 3-consecutive-trips bonus. I called support enough times to fight for my bonus that the support operator told me my account was flagged for the issue.

I drive Uber and Lift. For a comparison when I drive lift after 3.5 hrs with no surge events I made $58. When I drive Uber about the same time I made $89. Also Uber offer better bonus opportunities. One other tip is I typically don't take a ride that is more then 10mins from me. Also for long rides. I tell the rider I need $25 more in cash per hour I ride. This will cover the return cost.
@@texasrose2315 They have not paid for the ride until I complete the trip. We agree before the trip starts. Uber has just sent out an update in their T&C's stating we can do this.
What is the acceptance rate from your riders when you tell them that they need to pay you an additional $25 for the longer rides return? If they agree, more power to you! Way to go.
My strategy is to buy a 12 year old car and run it into the ground. I bought a 2010 Toyota sienna minivan for 7k which had 110k miles and I have driven it for 64k miles in 14 months and it is still running strong. Low depreciation because it is an old van and ultra low maintenance because it's a Toyota.
Getting deactivated for canceling is BS because I always accidentally accept a ride while I’m navigating the app. It just pops as in pressing on something else up and boom now it’s accepted. It shouldn’t do that.

You’re right about the insurance thing. I remembered yeast back I told my insurance company that I would be delivering pizzas for a chain part time after requesting a declarations page. Because I didn’t have commercial insurance, my insurance company dropped me on the spot. I didn’t know any better at that time. I learned that commercial insurance was way too expensive and I guaranteed no delivery driver would pay that kind of money. As suggested by my boss at that time, I took a gamble and bought another policy and not mention anything commercial. This was before rideshare was introduced in my area.
I hate it when I get long rides when I don't want to do a long ride but then don't get them when I need them. I work in Temecula Wine Country but like to get rides to San Diego airport and then work San Diego but sometimes I get a request from Old Town Temecula to Newport Beach.
Smart move is to put 20% of your weekly pay into a tax account. You will have to pay State and Federal taxes quarterly. Having this money set aside will avoid penalties and other headaches on April 15.

Even when you are close to the airport or near air port on net you can tell when and how many flights are coming in. Regardless there are many other drivers waiting their turn to pick up passenger you would have to wait in that Queue to pick up riders. If you can find how many cabs are ahead of you in the queue than you can decide to wait or pass. KNOWLEDGE is power.
1 its very dangetous 2 you will have an accident 3 you tear up your car 4 you at least triple your maintanemce 5 gas takes 20-25 percent 6 ride share takes half 7 fee doesnt make up for all this
The problem I am seeing after 3 days is the fact that it doesn’t give me any information about the trip before I accept it.. I have been doing food delivery for a year and I only accept orders with at least double the money in comparison to the miles, and nothing under 10 dollars, using this method I consistently make 200 on half a tank.. so far I am having tons of trouble working out a method to make Lyft work for me in the same way, or even supplement the slow delivery hours with trips I wouldn’t have otherwise.. I am receiving those trips during the dry hours but those trips aren’t nearly as profitable without the control I utilize to my advantage with the delivery apps.. I’m going to try a couple more days and just decline any trip over 10 miles, see how long it takes for Lyft to kick me off I guess.. I am also a nice person though, I don’t want to tell someone that I won’t be accepting their trip, but at the same time, there are other drivers, someone will accept their trip eventually.. we’ll see, I’d like to make this work for my situation.
I wish I knew that on a delivery ride for 19 dollars or more if someone has already picked up the same order they only give 3 dollars of that delivery which sucks because the gas you wasted to pick up the order doesn't matter to them
@Sly Raxx Just the pure dollar amount earned - that can be structured a zillion different ways. Keep the independent contractor thing, don't worry about bennies etc...
The only possible way is for them to be in real danger of losing their business - enough people stop driving and/or stop riding. But it's too established now for that. Otherwise, if ya gotta, NO full-time and NO lots of driving part-time. Only drive on a very limited basis when and where you know you will max out your opportunities, save your car and lower the miscreant rate.
Yea like now I just do eats cause I live close to quite a few restaurants but with gas 5 gallon I’m sorry but I can’t accept anything under 6 bucks and if it too far out of the area…. Cancel I can’t do it
I contacted GEICO about the availability of Rideshare insurance for my vehicle should I decide to drive for Uber/Lyft in the future, and I was told it wasn't offered in my state yet. About a week after that discussion, GEICO sent me an affidavit to sign stating that I was not driving for Uber/Lyft.
What insurance did u end up getting? Yea I use to work for Geico and you cannot be on a personal auto policy and work for Lyft/Uber, also goes for pizza delivery drivers.
They can cancel your policy if you tell them you are using your vehicle for ride share because it make it higher risk factor and significantly increase the premium.

I'm a new driver, I got an uberX offer for 10 miles and looked at the bottom it said drop off 115 MI now I've never seen that before and haven't seen it since but as a new driver I think they did give me a little heads up there and thank you Uber I did not take that ride. But it was very small on the very bottom of the screen
That's same thing here in upstate NY. With people wanting to go into lower Westchester and NYC In lower Westchester and NYC you have to be a TLC credential driver. The fine outweighs the fare or vehicle impoundment Why would anyone get a luxury car for Uber and Lyft You passengers don't deserve to be chauffeured in luxury cars. A cheap beater is optimal like a Toyota Camry or Ford Fusion. Lyft and Ubers insurance sucks. Remember a beater don't depreciate

I just started driving this week. mostly i am sticking to a time schedule as I work from home; so i do 3 days peak hrs in the AM and evenings, Saturday mornings and evening. great suggestion for on the mileage app. I curious to know if Uber apps has that feature for mileage. also a tip for those Amex card owners. I strictly only use the amex card for Uber for gas and water, snack bars for customers. this way I use the amex app for business expense tracking. I am considering using my Audi A4 for uber how will that work when adding to Uber ? do I have to remove my current vehicle?

Do you mean you just document the mileage on the trip information or do you mean all the mileage from when you start working until you stop working ? I have a money goal for each day and week. I don't work full time. I drive an EV, so no gas and Uber gives me bonuses for that. I try not to take anything under $1/mile (both ways). Though sometimes I'll take something close to that if I'm going for a Quest (number of rides in a number of days. I get Uber's insurance and Progressive knows I drive Uber. I have a dash cam but haven't had any really bad passengers in the 2 years I've been driving. My acceptance rate sucks so I'll never get Diamond or Gold status. I'm not trying to let Uber take advantage of me by offering crap fares. Uber has gotten very stingy of late. Less Boosts, lower Quest rewards (or no Quests at all) and fares that can be lower than $.50/miles.
I wish I would’ve never started driving for Lyft I was t-boned while driving for Lyft they don’t give u a rental and they have a $2500 deductible which really messed me up big time I got a second car that I have to use because I’m in between jobs right now but if somebody hits me while working for them then I’m really screwed I gotta get out of this
Tip number one: Don't drive for uber and lyft. I'm sorry but at least as for today, it is a terrible idea unless you live in a very hot market, I'm in Miami and it feels like today's earnings are tommorrows expenses, coming back full circle. Just being honest, it just buys you time to figure out how to do something else.
Until you have driven for awhile & reached higher levels as a Driver, the apps just ping a ride & you Accept or Decline. You have no idea how far away it is
You cannot claim full miles with mileage apps. you can only claim mileage from the time you receive a trip from Uber or Lyft until you complete the trip. Any mileage you do while working rideshare is NOT tax deductible. For example: leaving your house to head to the area you are planning to work will not count. After dropping off a trip which lets say is 15 miles from your work area and you head back the 15 miles. Those miles are not tax deductible. IRS ONLY allows the mileage that is reported by Uber or Lyft.

Uber kicked me off the platform as a driver. Customer made false accusations on me they closed my account because my rating which was bullshit. I am going back to doordash I made some money doing Uber. My goal is 40 dollars a day. I would do 5 orders on average My rating was 4.75. It dropped to an 4.04 the community guidelines are terrible.
I did it for 5 years! Great way to pay bills but since Covid it became Dangerous!! And I'm out!! I'm full time Digital Marketer and doing Great!! Be Careful driving out there!!
@@jameshendricks2197 two drivers in my area got killed recently , it got dangerous bc people got more desperate due to the economy that’s what they are saying .. when the economy is thriving people are more generous … I get a lot less tips on Uber in certain areas and find I get better tips on Uber eats
Not one word on dash cams. Which is your job. You protection against the riders complaints. If you do not have a dash cam you are tak I ng a big risk with uber and lyft believing t he rider and getting deactivated permanently. Good luck God bless.

By the way... took me a while to figure this out but I have 9 years experience with Uber/Lyft and over 17,000 rides.
How do you see the money amount? It only shows me the minutes and a general direction (like...North).

What about when riders make false reports and Uber just automatically put it on your review or send you a warning without asking the driver?

In the Houston area, the bonuses are gone. I haven't seen a Lyft bonus offered in over 3 months.

Tip #1 as a customer: Understanding now why i wind up stranded. Wont book again if i need to get to airport.
Find events in your community for the month that will need drivers and work Friday or Saturday events...

That sounds illegal to charge the rider in cash after they have paid for the ride.

For Uber your car has to be less than 10 years old to qualify...
Not anymore. Uber loosened their rules on that. A car can be up to 16 years old now.

They fixed that. Accidentally accepting is a reason for cancelling.

FYI for PA Uber drivers...On July 24, 2020, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Uber drivers are not self-employed.

I use Stride for expenses. It will even do percentages. For example, I deduct 80% of my Sirius XM.

I have been doing food delivery for a year and I only accept orders with at least double the money in comparison to the miles, and nothing under 10 dollars, using this method I consistently make 200 on half a tank.. so far I am having tons of trouble working out a method to make Lyft work for me in the same way, or even supplement the slow delivery hours with trips I wouldn’t have otherwise.. I am receiving those trips during the dry hours but those trips aren’t nearly as profitable without the control I utilize to my advantage with the delivery apps.. I’m going to try a couple more days and just decline any trip over 10 miles, see how long it takes for Lyft to kick me off I guess.. I am also a nice person though, I don’t want to tell someone that I won’t be accepting their trip, but at the same time, there are other drivers, someone will accept their trip eventually.. we’ll see, I’d like to make this work for my situation.
I wish I knew that on a delivery ride for 19 dollars or more if someone has already picked up the same order they only give 3 dollars of that delivery which sucks because the gas you wasted to pick up the order doesn't matter to them

As a Diamond Level ex-driver of over 10,000 trips my best advice is DO NOT DRIVE FOR A RIDESHARE COMPANY UNTIL THEY CHANGE THEIR PAY STRUCTURE.

The only possible way is for them to be in real danger of losing their business - enough people stop driving and/or stop riding. But it's too established now for that. Otherwise, if ya gotta, NO full-time and NO lots of driving part-time. Only drive on a very limited basis when and where you know you will max out your opportunities, save your car and lower the miscreant rate.
I just learned they take half of pay. Customer pays 40 uber gives you 20 🙄
Don't do ride's 25 minutes away to take the passenger a mile down the road.

I contacted GEICO about the availability of Rideshare insurance for my vehicle should I decide to drive for Uber/Lyft in the future, and I was told it wasn't offered in my state yet. About a week after that discussion, GEICO sent me an affidavit to sign stating that I was not driving for Uber/Lyft.
What insurance did u end up getting? Yea I use to work for Geico and you cannot be on a personal auto policy and work for Lyft/Uber, also goes for pizza delivery drivers.

They can cancel your policy if you tell them you are using your vehicle for ride share because it make it higher risk factor and significantly increase the premium.

I'm a new driver, I got an uberX offer for 10 miles and looked at the bottom it said drop off 115 MI now I've never seen that before and haven't seen it since but as a new driver I think they did give me a little heads up there and thank you Uber I did not take that ride. But it was very small on the very bottom of the screen

very good video and on point. I just started driving this week. mostly i am sticking to a time schedule as I work from home; so i do 3 days peak hrs in the AM and evenings, Saturday mornings and evening. great suggestion for on the mileage app. I curious to know if Uber apps has that feature for mileage. also a tip for those Amex card owners. I strictly only use the amex card for Uber for gas and water, snack bars for customers. this way I use the amex app for business expense tracking. I am considering using my Audi A4 for uber how will that work when adding to Uber ? do I have to remove my current vehicle?

I have a money goal for each day and week. I don't work full time. I drive an EV, so no gas and Uber gives me bonuses for that. I try not to take anything under $1/mile (both ways). Though sometimes I'll take something close to that if I'm going for a Quest (number of rides in a number of days. I get Uber's insurance and Progressive knows I drive Uber. I have a dash cam but haven't had any really bad passengers in the 2 years I've been driving. My acceptance rate sucks so I'll never get Diamond or Gold status. I'm not trying to let Uber take advantage of me by offering crap fares. Uber has gotten very stingy of late. Less Boosts, lower Quest rewards (or no Quests at all) and fares that can be lower than $.50/miles.
I wish I would’ve never started driving for Lyft I was t-boned while driving for Lyft they don’t give u a rental and they have a $2500 deductible which really messed me up big time I got a second car that I have to use because I’m in between jobs right now but if somebody hits me while working for them then I’m really screwed I gotta get out of this

Tip number one: Don't drive for uber and lyft. I'm sorry but at least as for today, it is a terrible idea unless you live in a very hot market, I'm in Miami and it feels like today's earnings are tommorrows expenses, coming back full circle. Just being honest, it just buys you time to figure out how to do something else.

You cannot claim full miles with mileage apps. you can only claim mileage from the time you receive a trip from Uber or Lyft until you complete the trip. Any mileage you do while working rideshare is NOT tax deductible. For example: leaving your house to head to the area you are planning to work will not count. After dropping off a trip which lets say is 15 miles from your work area and you head back the 15 miles. Those miles are not tax deductible. IRS ONLY allows the mileage that is reported by Uber or Lyft.
As long as you are online, every mile is deductible.

Uber kicked me off the platform as a driver. Customer made false accusations on me they closed my account because my rating which was bullshit. I am going back to doordash I made some money doing Uber. My goal is 40 dollars a day. I would do 5 orders on average My rating was 4.75. It dropped to an 4.04 the community guidelines are terrible.
I did it for 5 years! Great way to pay bills but since Covid it became Dangerous!! And I'm out!! I'm full time Digital Marketer and doing Great!! Be Careful driving out there!!

Not one word on dash cams. Which is your job. You protection against the riders complaints. If you do not have a dash cam you are tak I ng a big risk with uber and lyft believing t he rider and getting deactivated permanently.
