** Lyrics **
I told you once but I will say it again
when you live the flesh it is the beginning
of the end
it will take you in
it will spit you out
behold the flesh and the power it holds
passion is a poison laced with pleasure bitter sweet
one of many faces that hide deep beneath
it will take you in
it will spit you out
behold the flesh and the power it holds
touch, taste, breathe, consumed
deja-vu. already knew from the first encounter
but know I know to let go of words to speak no more
like a wind upon your face you can't see it
but you know it's there, when beauty shows
its ugly face, just be prepared.
[Solo Schuldiner]
Passion burns like fire carried by the wind
the end of a time, a time to begin
it builds you up one way and tears
you right back down, a time to begin
the end of a time.
Touch, taste, breathe, consumed.

I can’t believe he had such a soft speaking voice and then he starts singing like an absolute beast.
I believe he got his scream by stealing devil's voice, and now the devil sounds like Mickey mouse 😈
dude i love his normal voice he sounds so chill calm and innocent like a kid but then he sings and its still very beautiful but god damn lmfao its brutal
He went almost Black Metal on the last album.
@@mikepastor.k6233yeah no, black metal is another different world.
@@ManowarMasinowas gonna say. I’m the biggest Death fan, but ain’t no way their last album is black Metal 😂
plain black shirt tucked into light washed dad jeans and a digital watch... still more metal than all the try hard bands today that dress up to try and look 'scary' or 'menacing'
Jeremy D he was dedicated to the music. Not the look.
True talent doesn't need to hide behind a veil of theatrics.
You god damn right!
It's the digital watch
fuck dude! you are right.
This album LITERALLY has NO "bad" songs .
This band LITERARY has NO "bad" songs .
@@trompete5601 correct
@@trompete5601 exactly
Death and Alice in Chains are two bands I know that have no bad songs.
@@A7XKoRnRocks1 a man of absolute culture I see
I would also add that Layne Staley in general has made zero bad songs as well
Most screamers almost pass out on stage and still can't scream like Chuck. It was easy for him, besides he's a guitar genius. Definetly a metal god.
There's some metal musicians that paved the way for metal and for many generations. Those people may include Ozzy, Halford, Dimebag, Araya etc. Schuldiner is definitely one of those people to be a pioneer of their own genre RIP Chuck
+Paul Pinargote You forgot Lemmy.
+StygianTraveler141
Lol I told myself the exact same thing once I read the comment again
Paul Pinargote So... edit it? :D
+StygianTraveler141
Too busy listening to the music \\m//
Chuck wore a digital watch and controlled the gate with the volume pot on his guitar. Oh, and also hit every note vocally and on the guitar with absolute precision.
+Ed Heys It's confirmed! He's Yog-Sothoth!
He amazingly only missed one beat. 5:48
@@VicSellsPeace made me watch it again dude
This just slays !!! Try remembering this song let alone sing and play it
the fact that he could pull off those riffs while singing blows my mind. death is definitely one of the bests of all time!! wish I could’ve seen them live
For real man. Ive tried playing while singing and man its beyond hard. Ive written four albums and still I have a seriously hard time mixing the two together. This guy was a god.
Richard Christy is one of the best drummers. He combines jazz drumming with death metal drumming in a perfect way!Unfortunately,he is so underestimated...
He's also one of the greatest prank callers.
@@jorgealvarez3917 very true!
He does great prank calls too!!!!!
Double bass is my faaaaaaaavorite.
He is an amazing drummer. Unfortunately, I can’t relate to a damn thing he does as a person. Probably best to avoid. ;)
Few metal musicians hold the title of 'God'. Chuck is one of them.
Also dimebag
@@sonofpewdieie dimebag was boring.
@@AgentFour How, please explain how he was "boring"
Lol 😂
@@dimebag1999 he didnt even respond lol
R.I.P Scott Clendenin, what a brilliant bass player he was
He has also died??? Jesus christ, son!
@@janarnold5569 this band is really into death I guess
@@VictorTarela Quite literally
Scott passed in 2015
So sad.he was really good.how he died?
1:27. Chuck's figure and that riff... my heart just bleeding, so beautiful and sad at the same time.. You are at some better place brother, hope we will meet someday.
Leonid Isachenko +1 Indoubtedly my favourite Death riff, and also the riff from Trapped in a corner starting at 01:20 (at studio record) is great too!
Great memories Chuck!
+Leonid Isachenko The riff at 0:58 is fucking beautiful.
That one camera guy is obsessed with getting the dad jeans in the frame.
Yeah man aren't they splendid??
Shit dude that guy could be wearing a tutu and still be badass!
Chuck's solo was almost too perfect to be live that's fucking intense
Chuck will be forever remembered. Such a kick-ass. He is a man that is born only once in a decade. I am sure if he was alive, there would be ten thousands of people on Death's concerts.
+Thane Krios Quote Iced Earth:"Ten thousand strong will seize the day!!" ( sorry, I had to xD )
Honestly Death would’ve 100% become a main stream band if they didn’t have the brutal vocal style. Sadly, Chuck did it for the fans when he didn’t like those vocals himself.
@@chrism1518 nah his vocals are awesome
@@skan5728
I agree 100%, but the mainstream wouldn’t have accepted Death the way they were.
@@chrism1518definitely would've sounded awkward without the harsh vocals. I don't think I would listen to them if it was mainly clean vocals.
Chuck was a genius... we all miss him.
Exactly. What's your favourite song?
+hennis to forgive is to suffer or voice of the soul
+hennis Story to tell
+hennis Or spiritual healing
Of course. has been almost 15 year's since he died but the music sound's like a new stuff, fresh. I admire, I learned about life because of him, cause he never gave up till the end. Chuck you are Huge, you were and you always will be a huge genius, a pure soul.
4:35 fuck yeah Phil in the back enjoying himself to some beer and death
is that him? lol
Marlon Quilante hell yeah:^)
Marlon Quilante yeah thats him lol its 98' when Ansalmo had long hair
i saw that vinnie was on the other side of the stage with his drumkit ready to destroy it, pantera was performing after death
Hahah fucking sick! Nice spot
One day I walk into a music store and ask : "Give me heavier metal than Metallica and Sepultura, it's harder!!! The seller gave me the Death album "Scream bloody gore" It's been 20 years I've been listening to Chuck schuldiner

One of the baddest deathiest death album ever! My cousin CHUCK was a living legend and one of the best people I have ever known
@@williamburnett5337 he will be a legend til the end of time !
@bradhome1323 my cousin. Loved him so much, it was a tragedy losing him. Someone who was so talented ended having such a short life.
@@williamburnett5337 I never got to meet him but, my long time friend knew him & Kam & Ric when they were young b4 they started Mantis, and he told me the same. He seemed like a truely kind person with a great passion for music and opened the door for a whole new genre of metal ! I currently live a few blocks away from where he grew up. My deepest condolences for your loss, we need more ppl like him in the world! As you know by reading comments he was loved by many around the world, and he will continue to live on in our hearts, through his music forever.
Watching Phil Anselmo in the back jamming to this makes me so happy
Couldn't agree more! They're both In my top 3 all time frontmen along with Layne Staley.
What makes this even cooler is they more than likely hung out after the show 🤟🏻
And Vinnie Paul's kit to the side as well.
My favourite part is from 00:00 till 08:41
Behold Chuck Schuldiner, and he power he holds! RIP, Death LIVES!
+Trinity TV If he was alive, do you think he would ever make a song about Cthulhu mythos? mehtallica suck.
Trinity TV
Maybe, I dunno. But whatever he did, I'm sure it would be awesome
+Trinity TV Agree! \m/
Also, sorry for the delay on the response. Somehow I never saw this until today! lol. but today, just like yesterday, DEATH STILL LIVES, so better late than never
I love the drummer's choice of fills throughout the entire concert
no attitude, no special moves, no special effects or anything just pure talent! amazing!
The first 2 minutes of this song: no vocals, no frills, just instrumental mastery. And why I love metal!
God bless Chuck Schuldiner his family and every fan of him.
God bless you too man.

It's incredible how you can pick any rabdom point of this song and wherever you fall, its your favorite part
This applies to any death song
Literally the most enjoyable song ever. Can't imagine how fun must have been hearing it live
Same goes for 'Pull the plug' too
One of the many things I love about Chuck is how before a song he was like "yeah this next one's from our new album, hope you like it" and when he's doing the vocals for the song itself he screams like a fuckin' madman. Absolute legend.
What band! Phil Anselmo (3:14) in the background enjoying the sound, drums and weight of the song. This is one of the most brutal formations of the band.
Death had one of the most lyrically understandable singer and a brutal lineup of musicians.
In extreme metal, you mean
I use his signiture guitar ... how beatiful it is !!!
Greatly miss you, Brother.
B.C. rich is best
That’s a $6,500 guitar you’re rich AF. Jealous man
USA or Import, those are fuckin AMAZING guitars, dude. Closest I got is a Dean Razorback and Washburn 332 (completely modded with a top-mount floyd, refinish, and BL L500XL pup + Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck). I wanna get a Warrior and deck it out to be a stealth, but at that point I should just get a Xiphos.. hella jealous.
Chuck was more than a musician; he was a philosopher, a teacher.
Phil Anselmo having a blast to Death @ 4:03
Was it really?????
+Hunter Campbell It actually is. Same hair & beard length for that era, plus he's wearing a vest and shorts I've seen him wear for Pantera concerts that year.
Also, quick Google: Pantera played Eindhoven.
How cool. Thanks for filling me in.
+Hunter Campbell That totally is Phil. If you look at the drums kit to right of the stage, that's Vinnie's. 😂
Fuck that solo still gives me the chills 15 years later. Badass.
As it should.
Chuck was a fucking animal. And this, imo, was the best lineup Death has ever had, technically speaking at least. Richard Christ is a monster drummer too.
Every Death musician are amazing but i agree
Chuck = Precision...He was amazing...
Chuck = The best fucking progressive DEATH metal
Totally agree! My favourite band forever man!
We miss you Chuck...
Chuck Schuldiner was something else. Dude was basically a whole band by himself
i really dont understand how he sings like that... respect man rip
i love how shannon looks reminds me of the good ol' 90s
Chuck is to Death Metal as Dave Mustaine is to Thrash Metal, they're both Gods in their respective genres, hell they're just both Gods to begin with.
Exactly!
nope. not even close. Chuck never talks bad about his former band members like shitstaine did
Ya know, the more i listen to Death and watch live shows/interviews, i really respect Chuck more and more as a musician, father of death metal and especially a guitarist!
I think we sometimes like to acknowledge his death metal pioneering a lot, and we don't truly see that he is an absolutely phenomenal guitarist. He really is one of my guitar idols, i love watching him play!
man death got every vocal and cord right every time haha hes a genuise @
Rudy Arriaza His name was Chuck... xd
Rudy Arriaza its not genius..its perfection.
The depth of his songs and the complexity of his music grew exponentiually. Hard to imagine what he could create if alive
I got a chance to see him in OK just after SOP came out, caught up with him before the show along with Richard and Shannon, these guys were in their prime and I truly missed their presence in our music scene. these guys were all down to earth. My favorite band of all time! Long live \m/

RIP Chuck Schuldiner (May 13, 1967 - December 13, 2001), aged 34
You will always be remembered as a legend.
It took me a decade to realize that Richard Christie, prank caller of Howard Stern fame, was the drummer on the best Death album. Insane amount of talent.
fuck this range of voice chuck is truly godfather of death metal...2016 still rocking
Chuck is literally the reason why I want to learn guitar and also the reason I want to set it down and not try. He's a metal God from another dimension. Chuck along with dimebag are truly my idols from the Cradle to the grave. I really miss you and Death..... Rest in peace metal brother
This is the album of my life. Whenever somebody asks about me, I'm nobody, but I identify myself through this masterpiece, as a music enthusiast.
This mAn never misses to amaze me. He’s a musical genius, unparalleled in talent both in creating complex metal tracks and technicality in guitar. The world could not contain his ability. Chuck the father of death metal!
How long were Chuck's fingers? His damn hand looks like the face-hugger from Alien.
Holy shit this song is so good. Never even knew about this band. AMAZING.
Live sounds exactly like studio. If not better. God damn these guys were sick
Does anyone notice Pantera standing there jamming out on the side of the stage to the left? I watch these videos hundreds of times and just noticed them for the first time now! I at least see Phil, Vinnie, and Rex, sitting there, Bangin their heads enjoying some death!
How the fuck could Chuck not afford surgery?! How is it so expensive despite famous, even in the underground? How is it that money determines whether people live or die?
***** My point is, you are allowed to deny life changing surgery to those who cant afford it? And with the success of Death's albums and concerts, he still couldn't afford it? That is truly fucked up.
+Goabnb94 You must not misunderstand capitalism. Money comes before life. Profit before life. Life is cheap. It has no quality bearing, no measurement in ability. If you make enough, you can afford anything. If you can't, fuck you. Quantity before quality.
"No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." H.L. Mencken
As I understand, he was pretty well off, but musicians get absolutely no insurance and he was hospitalized for so long that it drained all his savings, the money he was donated and then some. I think his folks were still paying the bills a few years back, which is really fucked up if you think about it, they were deeply indebted to the people who basically sentenced their son to death.
He did pay for a surgery and won against his cancer but it came back one year later, this time he had no money to pay.
Now that is beyond fucked up.. Chuck was such a lively dude and from what i understand he lived a healthy life too. Only the good die.
at 4:25, he finds time to rub his nose and comes back without missing a note or getting out of rhythm. metal AF
chuck's normal voice is so nice, i'm really sure he was a really nice person
Chuck Schuldiner is my Daddys sisters son. Chuck was a beautiful human being that cared deeply for everyone around him. If he loved you, you knew it and he would go out of his way to help people. Some of his first shows were at chuckie cheese in Orlando lol he did anything to get himself and his music out there!

I watch this concert every few months because I cut my teeth on Chucks riffs as a young man. A genius and a legend and a god and may he rest in peace. Gone way too fucking soon and now we have this travesty state of the world to endure
This is real music not like the shit kids listen to these days
To be fair, it was not like the shit kids listened to in those days either. If you look hard enough, you can find high quality music in any era.
Yeah well I was referring to some kids I see sometimes listening to shity music
I agree. Some of the metal today is pretty good, sure, but it just can't stand up to this. This OWNS.

This is my first time listening to Death and I am loving it. I guess I'll continue by seeing the entire show
I started my way in death metal there 3 years ago. Now I'm usually listening to death metal (death, obituary, cannibal corpse, morbid angel, etc.)
I couldnt get into death Metal for the longest time but chucks insnane skill as a guitarist converted me
Me too although I think his clean vocals sound better then his intense screeching which is pretty badass
