Death is one of the only bands that each album is better (more technical, more progressive, more unique in my opinion) than the previous. One of the best bands of all times and this is one of their greatest songs. Great pick, I'm not surprised Judson didn't like that one :)
I never thought about it that way, you are definitely spot on about that! I think Judson will enjoy Control Denied more than Death, that's why I really hope he does something from Control Denied!
I've always loved the frantic and disorganized feeling of this song as it works perfectly with the theme of us having so much more inside us to express than our short time allows. It's like the song is panicking trying to get it all out.
Maaan, I also have always loved the abrupt and shocking changes in tempo and feel in many Death songs, it keeps you on your toes. But hearing your interpretation on it brings it to another level, extremely well articulated!
To have someone reacting to a metal song in such a geniuine way is so damn refreshing. Not everything has to be catered to the audience, having a discussion with someone with different tastes in music and still be open minded and respectful is the way to go. Perhaps something on the melodic side of death metal could be a better fit. Keep up the great work guys! Cheers from Argentina!
Thank you for reacting to this song, I was waiting for your first bite of Death and Chuck's work. It's fine, Judson. Maybe try without judgment, 1000 eyes, zero tolerance or spiritual healing next. Those songs all have this awesome thing where the chorus happens, and then another chorus happens and then the REAL chorus happens. And the way chucks vocals go over the riffs in such a unique way and he changes the patterns, it’s almost like a rapper, which is a weird way to put it, but he definitely was very different to how most vocalists would add vocals to a song!
You guys just did earthborn evolution, flesh and the power it holds, fermented offal discharge. These are all some of my favorite songs lol nice choices!
Ah just how I reacted when I was only playing trumpet in the school band.
Musical appreciation grows, inevitably.
Best metal band ever
Death's best album imo. Spirit Crusher best song on that album, but the entire album is all killer no filler.
the great thing about music is its personnel. Its an opinion but thanks for stating chuck RIP was a genius song writer and I love everything he did. RIP mighty chuck!!!! Forever missed and forever loved the flesh and the power is a masterpiece
nice intro!! sounds familiar but I can't place it...oh ok the dead..I would have never guessed
Death still kept true to themselves in 1998 when New metal was the flavor of the day 🤘
Respect for the honesty and I understand it's kinda disjointed
Is that a Blackbraid hoodie I spot? 🙌🏻
Next time do Perennial Quest. He will love that one.
