    Man… I have a GX470 which is similar setup to what you have. This video is really helpful in knowing what can go wrong and avoid them.
    Really appreciate you listing and describing the tools needed for this job.
    Your video really shows the struggle of DIY at home. A couple hour job ends up being hours of expletive ridden adventure. 😄

    Just started doing this on my 06' 4 Runner today. I Spent 5 hours in the shop today. The long bolt you mentioned was the most difficult thing to remove and try to angle properly to get out.
    I'm worried about the rack and pinion seeing how you got two different angles for the bolt fittings.
    I got OEM, but I'll be sure to double check. I'm going back in Friday hoping installation goes much easier than the disassembly was.
    The hose clamps you have are a blessing i took everything off using pliers and i wouldn't recommend it 😂
    Awesome video wish i found it sooner!

    Nice video. It is long but you could add chapters. Sway bar removal, outer tire rod, etc...Might be helpful since a lot of people search for those tutorials individually anyway.

    hey just a heads up I found out that Blaster Rust shield actually will melt rust or just turn it into sludge. If you spray it on a rusted nut or bolt then wait just like 5 to 15 min all you have to do is wipe it off with whatever you wipe stuff off with including but not recomended your gloves. If it is a particularly sever rust welded nut or bolt then after you wipe it off the first time hit it with a braker bar and hammer the dead blow one or whatever it is called you know the rubber one. then go ahead and repeat the processes with the rust shield until it finally releases. I watched a ton of videos trying to figure out how to get rust welded nuts and bolts apart and almost all of them told you to take a blow torch to it or just cut it off... You do not have to do this if you simply take 30 to 45 min to apply Blaster Rust Sheild to the thing... this is not what the product is said to be made for obviously in the name it is to prevent rust which it actually is the very best product on the market for that intended use however I promise you it removes rust better than even the rust remover that Blaster offers... It has been a game changer for me and I hope that it can help you out in the future too.

    Is there any difference between the 2wd and 4wd as far as disassembling and reassembling

    • @ELITEkickBOXER
      @ELITEkickBOXER  11 месяцев назад

      Looking at my Haynes Repair manual, I did not see anything that suggested a difference between the 2WD and 4WD variations. It makes sense, too, because, so long as you have the same engine (1GR-FE), which you should (look on inside of the hood if unsure), it is the addition of the front differential that is on the 4WD version, but has no relevance to the steering from what I understand. Obviously, I'm not a mechanic. You could look under your car and see if everything looks the same as compared to mine in the video. If it does, you should be good to go. If not, we'll go from there.

    hi, were you able to center the steering wheel the first time??

    • @ELITEkickBOXER
      @ELITEkickBOXER  2 месяца назад

      Yes I was. I was actually so close to how it was before i started the alignment I got barely needed any corrections.

    Nice work, but why would you cut those zip ties ends at an angle, thats wild 33:56

    • @ELITEkickBOXER
      @ELITEkickBOXER  9 месяцев назад

      Honestly, didn't even notice that. Those zip ties are from before I got the car, or if they did maintenance on the A/C system. I cut mine as low as possible.

    What part number for the rack and pinion ? Im looking online and im seeing 44200-35070 & 44200-35061. Both are showing that itll fit an 05 4 runner on the online fitment.

      Get this one from Oreily's: N311-0204
      It's the one I used and it's new (not remanufactured). As for the OEM part number, that I do not know.

      How's it holding up so far? Is there any play in the steering wheel?

    • @ELITEkickBOXER
      @ELITEkickBOXER  9 месяцев назад

      @@HooliganCha It's great! Still feels stiffer (as my old one was a tad loose) and I'm glad I did it.
