I like the enthusiasm lol. I think on a 30mph roll it will walk them, but not really “rip them to shreds”. From a dig it’s all about the driver. The engine sound of the LT5 easily trumps both IMO.

It was running low 11s at Palmdale and I believe he told me he ran a 1080 at Bakersfield. There's a lot left on the table, these cars are fast

Absolutely magnificent all American super sportscar, the original ZR1 king of the hill is a legend, and still to this day has performance that can make modern recent contemporary sportscars look bad. Congratulations Sir! It also is a great investment and picks up value each day.

Thanks! Yes, the 4.10 is a shorter differential ratio and is a popular modification for these cars. Changes a lot of how the car feels while driving around town. Stock ratio is 3.45.

I love a good stock engine. When it comes to muscle cars and Japanese tuners, everyone wants to give everything engine swaps, 1000 horsepower, massive turbos and superchargers, etc. But nothing to me beats the sound of a nice bone-stock engine, of any type, really. I wish more people appreciated that.
@@kylec4zr1 Absolutely! I went from 3:42’s with wicked long gears to smaller wheels to give it that oomph but ultimately went to a 3:73 that gave it take off at the price of early shifts. Now I’m the world we’re autos are faster than manuals it lost what was gained cause each shift they leap forward.
I like when someone is responsible enough to make videos like this on a road, where no one else is driving, instead of speeding in the middle of a city, like some idiot irresponsible youngster does with their fathers BMW.
Based on seat of the pants feeling, no. I can’t tell much difference, and the 93 also has headers and gears that the 90 didn’t have. The gears make the car feel a lot less lazy driving around town, but I don’t think they make it any quicker. It’s fun to be able to light them up in 1st gear at will though.
@@martyisbell7050 they’re all beasts of the 1990s regardless of the year. They all make the same glorious sounds, but ones with stock exhaust are much quieter.
I'm a auto repair technician and do exhaust work at the shop and have for years so I will make it sound nice. And yes the sound of them is amazing. Thanks again
@@mcmc1863 depends what you want out of it, but if you plan on driving it get one that is already being driven. A 180-mile car will require a bit of work to make it a driver after sitting for 30+ years.
I limp mine around town, it’s embarrassing, sounds like a UPS truck full of gravel. Yeah, I did a lightweight aluminum flywheel. I did stretch it’s legs before the weather change, on the way to the dealership, I miss those 7k shifts. Your car sounds awesome, definitely jealous!
I’m pretty confident I could stay even with or walk a scatpack from a 20mph roll. From a dig the scatpack would jump out in front, no question, especially with launch control.
Recorded with my phone, not a GoPro. Used this mount: iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Dashboard Mount Stuck it to the ceiling and faced the camera forward. Pretty simple.
@@kylec4zr1 damn that’s pretty good, good sound and visual. Bought a go pro and tried to mount it on the hatch (underside) but none stick so I’m catching footage and halfway thru the drive it falls down. Just trying to find a better way.

405hp of stoutness surpassed 500hp to the wheels in its hay day. Chevrolet has finally resurrected DOHC in the Z06 C8. The ZR-1 is a legend.

To be fair the gm c4 only had 300hp, similar hp per liter. Yamaha did the majority of the work designing dohc heads for the lt series

Thanks! It’s the drag on the engine during part-throttle acceleration that I find annoying. Revs fall faster and it throws off my shift timing.

Thank you. The wheels are OEM 5-spoke ZR-1 wheels (aka A-Molds) from a ‘94 or ‘95, which are a deep lug style in the rear.
