Weather was over 80deg F and rather humid. This was our 4th consecutive run against each other within 12 minutes. We were hot-lapping the drag strip. No time spent for cool downs. The charger has over 100,000 miles so the engine is a little tired, and it’s possible heat soak played an issue. ZR-1 = 13.363 @ 108.22 SRT-8 = 14.067 @ 99.06

The power key in a C4 ZR-1 switches between 200ish hp and 375 hp. It is commonly called a valet key. In reality, Normal Power mode was meant to be used to pass emissions testing. 1990 is the only year the power key can be set and left at full engine power all the time. 1991-1995 you had to switch it on every time you started the car.

The engine sounds like heartbeat of the car. Love it!
Iconic car
Peak hp in the lt5 is at 5800. The 4.10’s are running above that most of the time while the 3.45’s are right in it every time you shift. That’s why they’re so similar even through the 4.10’s rev quicker.
Well tomorrow I’m buying and seeing my first zr-1 1991 white I already own a 91 convertible so I’m thrilled can’t wait 🫣 had yours a stock exhaust?

Love the car and will probably add a ZR-1 to my collection some day. The Lotus engine has a great and exotic noise. But still my fav is the absolute low end roar of an American single cam push rod V8 being wrung out to 6 grand. Such a deep visceral sound is spine tingling for me.
What means 1th gear to 4th gear in corvetter zr-1? this is also in your car?
If you’re shifting under a certain rpm, the gearbox forces you to shift from 1st to 4th to save gas mileage. Doesn’t turn on when you drive hard.

Hellcat would definitely win having 300+ more hp. Scatpack would be a better race.

@@misterbee4574 at best, a stock c4 zr1 can run high 12s A hellcat can run low 11s at its best. Not really a fair fight.
Zr1 vs scat pack is actually an even race if both cars are manual transmission.

Hello, Sir. I guess you didn't buy it with fuel economy as an important criteria, but how many MPG with the 4.10 differential?
I averaged 13mpg city and 21mpg highway with 4.10s
@@kylec4zr1 Pretty impressive, considering the engine displacement. I may be wrong, but I think even a V8-engined Ferrari is more gas-guzzling.
@@QMarais95 the stock 3.45 gears can yield 25-27mpg on the highway if you stay at 70mph or below. It is a remarkably well-rounded powertrain even by today’s standards, and was way ahead of its time in 1990.
