  • This is strictly a fun video to show the difference of shift points between a stock 3.45 geared C4 ZR-1 and a 4.10 geared C4 ZR-1.

4.10s seem to work very well with the high revving LT5.

So to anyone thinking of doing this for no real racing purpose I warn against it. I own #79 '94 ZR-1. I bought it with this conversion and really, for a street car, it's no fun at all. You will encounter some annoying vibration at highway speeds not to mention the need for sixth gear comes in at 71 mph. Sixth gear is no fun at all and the need to down shift to accelerate is just not at all cool. Sixth gear really loads up the engine and is not compatible with a 4.10 rear. My previous experience was with a bone stock LT-4 and was much more enjoyable to drive. Chevy put a lot of thought into gear combinations and it shows when you add too much salt to the stew. Car came with the stock ring and pinion and all shims and bearings. It's going back in along with the stock tune and stock exhaust. Corsa long tubes and full exhaust with cat delete is just an annoying drone. My two cents.

Your experience is a personal preference.
For me, I would never own a C4 ZR-1 again that was stock, because I like the louder exhaust and the livelier shorter gears. If you want a quiet comfy cruiser then go buy a stock C6 or C7.
Sixth gear is still usable with 4.10s. I road tripped it 1400 miles and averaged 21mpg driving mostly at 80mph. The stock 3.45s would have yielded better gas mileage, but it wasn’t horrible with the 4.10s.
The only situation I would warn against 4.10s is if you have 500+ hp. 1st gear then will overwhelm any rear tires you have.
In all other instances, 4.10s are more fun than the stock gears.

If I was younger yes I would put up with annoyances. Yes, do own a 17 Z51 Sterling Blue auto that I bought new @ Reedman Toll. It was my eighth Corvette. The only modification I ever did to a Vette was 3.08 in a 3.55 C2 so the Philly to Daytona run would be faster. I do have to say that the performance with the 4.10's in the ZR1 is pretty wild. Have fun!@@kylec4zr1

    Is there any 60-130 comparison?

Hey just curious, what mods did you do to your engine and transmission? That thing seems pretty damn fast. Its got a 350 tpi right?

Both cars in the video are ZR-1s which were produced from 1990-1995. They used the LT5, a DOHC V8. A very different design from the L98 350 TPI and shared no common engine parts.
Both engines in the videos are basically stock.
All ZR-1s from ‘90-‘95 came equipped with the ZF 6-speed manual.

@@kylec4zr1 what your engine rpm when you are relaxing cruise at steady 60 mph and you are in 6th gear. Can you make video?

@@IsderaCommendatore with the 3.45 stock gears, 60mph in 6th is like 1300-1400 rpm

Out of all the corvettes engineers Nd engineering they put 3.08 gears in the auto c4 5.7 . One of worst gear combos i have ever come across . Sux tho cause nobody changed them out like im sure they thought ppl would do and the earlier vette got a tame docile old gentleman sunday cruiser vibe! Had that ish had 4.10s we might have never seen an ls1

The base engines weren't high reving engines, all 4.10s would have done is make it shift sooner and get horrible gas mileage.
